“Thankful for a last minute booking- Ren kept me updated on my two and I was at ease knowing they were home. I’m a bit of an overprotective dog mom but the photo updates really helped!”

“Emma is very professional, very friendly, and my pets really like her (especially Winifred). She did a great job with them, gave good updates with pictures, and was patient with our newest dog Vee. Highly recommended and will book again.”

“Hannah is the best! My dog unexpectedly got a bad hot spot while we were out of town, and Hannah went above and beyond to take excellent care of him. Very communicative and attentive. 10/10 :)”

About: I have been caring for my friends’ and neighbors’ pets for over three years, and I cherish every opportunity to care for them. I always prioritize the safety of both the home and the pets, ensuring they are happy, healthy, and well cared for. Note: The app automatically adds a $45/night extended stay fee when booking. My base rate is $30/night and I’ll remove the extended fee and only charge it if your trip runs longer than expected. I’m currently a college student with classes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Outside of school hours, I have a flexible schedule and would be happy to dedicate my time to pet sitting, making sure your pets get the attention and care they deserve. I always make sure that your pets have a safe, clean, and comfortable environment. I keep a close eye on your pets, and make sure they feel loved and secure at all times. Safety, trust, and a calm environment are my top priorities.

“Alissa was so great with our puppy! We work night shift and she came over and spent time with him while we were at work and our dog absolutely loved her! Our cats also cuddled up to her too. She took him out, sent us pictures, and took him for a walk to get some of that puppy energy out. Would love to use her again in the future. Thanks Alissa! :)”

About: Hi! I’m Carrie, and I’ve been caring for animals my entire life. As a former veterinary assistant, I gained hands-on experience caring for pets and learned the importance of their health, safety, and well-being. I have experience with dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, and other small pets, and I’m happy to care for almost any animal. I’m experienced in administering medications, including pills, topical medications, and injections, and I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions. Whether your pet needs extra attention, a special routine, or simply lots of love, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I offer drop-in visits, walks, and overnight house sitting so your pets can stay relaxed in their own home. I treat every pet like family and care for them with the same love and attention I would give my own. I look forward to meeting you and your furry, feathered, or scaly family members! I am doing this as my source of income, so my schedule is open to check on your cat whenever it is needed. My schedule is flexible. I have four cats of my own. They are all indoor cats and they are well loved. I make sure to do the same to the cats I am watching.
“Amanda was absolutely wonderful with Gordon. She was incredibly communicative throughout the stay, sending frequent updates and pictures that gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She also handled an unexpected change in plans with grace and flexibility when my family arrived before I did, staying with Gordon until I got home and making sure everything was taken care of exactly as needed. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about the pets she watches and the people who trust her with them. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again, and Gordon and I are so grateful for her help!”

“Jaclyn took on my 3 aging pets, all with medical and TLC needs. She took care of them all like they were her own and communicated status all weekend. So grateful. We hope to book her again soon.”

“Paul was just fantastic. Sent updates and took wonderful care of our Dallas. No problems at all. Would highly recommend him to take care of ur fur baby. I will definitely use him again. Our Dallas enjoyed him a lot.”

“Emily (Paige) was soooo great with our dogs Harley and Prince! I’m usually one of those super paranoid dog moms, and I did not feel uneasy or worried one single time. She was super communicative and sent tons of pictures & updates of our babies! I also let her know not to worry about cleaning any bed sheets or towels, and when I got home, everything was cleaned and folded neatly on the bed. She also left a new bag of treats on the counter with a little note :) We will for sure be using her again in the future! Thanks for taking such great care of our babies, Paige!!”

About: I do prefer to go by Sophie but I have been a reliable pet sitter in the past for family and friends loving their animals like my own while they are away. I can provide services such as dog walking, dog park visits, food and water replenishment, medication administration, scooping cat litter boxes, and tons of cuddles. I am a full time college student so I have little pockets of time here and there to come hangout with your furry family members and provide lots of cuddles. I have my own transportation so I can come to your home to care for your furry family members. I am good about following feeding schedules and instructions as well as other instructions left by owners. I strive to treat furry friends like they are my own, giving them lots of love, attention, and cuddles.

I can not say enough good things about Hillarie. We were fortunate that she was available on short notice to pet sit our pups. She provided great loving care to our senior dogs. She was very responsive and communicative when questions arose about our pups needs. She was extremely responsible about tending to them during the day as well. We had great confidence in her and were able to enjoy our trip knowing they were in good hands. A bonus was returning to a tidy house upon returning very late at night after hours of flight delays.

I highly recommend Taylor for dog sitting. She took great care of my dog Maddie when I was away for the weekend and even stayed at my home. She provided photos and updates of Maddie. I felt at ease knowing that she was being taken care of. I will definitely be using her again. Thank you, Taylor!

She also handled an unexpected change in plans with grace and flexibility when my family arrived before I did, staying with Gordon until I got home and making sure everything was taken care of exactly as needed. Ashley did a great job watching our dog, Angel, while we were on vacation. She kept the house spic-n-span, did the dishes, stripped the bed, took out the trash, etc. She followed all the directions we left her and was responsive when contacted. We would definitely hire her again if needed.
Victoria was great! This was our first time booking her through the Rover app and we are very glad that we did! She took great care of our babies while we were away, provided daily updates/pictures and made us feel very comfortable while we were on our trip. She kept the house in great condition and even washed her linens (without being asked) before she left. We will definitely rebook with her in the future and recommend her services. Thanks again, Victoria!

FAQs for House Sitting - Carter
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Carter on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 3,768 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Carter. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Carter walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Carter maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Carter choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Carter. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
