“This was our first Rover experience and our sitter did not disappoint. Xena was wonderful with our husky. She was punctual and communicative throughout the evening. We look forward to having her return for our next event.”

“I simply cannot express the relief I had while traveling with Vanessa as my house/pet sitter. I have 2 cats and was babysitting my daughters cat, who arrived the day I left. Vanessa sent pics everyday of the cats snuggled with her or chilling in their fav spots! My trip was very unexpected, and it was my first time using Rover. I’ve always wary booked Vanessa again for a trip I had planned and was going to take my cat to my daughters, but it was so much more relaxing for them here in their home❤️”

“Charlie house sat for us for a week. He took amazing care of our cat and dog. Charlie was very professional and an excellent communicator. When we got home, the pets were happy and the house was immaculate. I highly recommend Charlie for pet sitting. We'll be using his services again!”

“Leah was absolutely amazing yet again! Lily absolutely loves her and it’s a joy to see them together. Loving all the photo and video updates and love discussing puppies with her:)”

“Duncan watched our two dogs in our home for 3 nights. He was conscientious and communicative before we left and throughout his stay. He sent updates and photos of the dogs and reassured us that all was well while we were away. Bonus points for leaving our apartment very tidy!”

“Jennifer is fantastic! Our pup had an emergency and she handled everything as if Bindi was her own and kept us updated throughout the process. She will be our first call to watch Bindi in the future. 10/10 recommend!”

“Alissa is a fantastic pet sitter!! She stayed at our house for a long weekend. I met with her ahead of time to show her around my house and to tell her about Bentley. She is warm, caring, very responsible and trustworthy. The weekend went very smoothly and she texted me updates every day. I knew my dog was in good hands with Alissa.”
“Malek was amazing!! He really loves animals and treated out two huskies and cat like royalty. He sent us updates on them and photos. We were always in the know. We came back and they were very well taken care of, I would use him again!”

“Madeline is great with Holly. She is also incredible as a human. She is great in communication. She is responsible and reliable. She is kind and intelligent. You can trust her completely. Cannot recommend her more.”

About: I offer more than basic pet sitting—I bring experience, intuition, and a calm, knowledgeable approach to every visit. From everyday care to more complex medical needs, including medication administration, I’m confident handling a wide range of situations while keeping your pet comfortable and stress-free. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs, with a preference for early mornings, late afternoons, and evenings. These times are ideal for walks, feedings, and quality time, especially for pets who thrive on consistent routines or need care outside of standard work hours. I’m happy to work with your schedule to ensure your pet receives dependable, timely care when they need it most. My apartment is located in a safe, pet-friendly community that’s ideal for in-home sitting. The environment is calm, clean, and welcoming, with plenty of space for pets to relax comfortably. Being in a dog-friendly area also means easy access to safe walking paths and a neighborhood where pets are part of everyday life. I make sure every pet in my care feels secure, supervised, and right at home.
“Rachel is a professional and reliable dogsitter. We felt comfortable leaving our two dogs and house in her good hands. We appreciated the regular updates and pictures a lot.”

“Tabatha was fantastic! I had to go out of town to deal with sick family, and needed to not worry about my pets. Tabatha made everything so easy and took great care of my dog and cat. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Claudia and Omar were just great. They stayed with my dog for 5 days and I was was concerned at first that since my dog didn't really know them it might make her anxious. Not at all. She seemed like she barely noticed I was gone when I returned:(. My house was in the same shape as when I left so hard to know they were even there. Highly recommend them and will use them again when the occasion arises.”

About: I’ve been taking care of pets - fish, dogs, cats, and birds primarily - for around 10 years. Possibly more. Absolutely love being able to assist elderly pups as well I’m currently a college student who has a lot of free time at various times during the day. Happily available to stay over as needed I play with and relax with the pets during the day and take them on walks as needed. Depending on age or size of the dog I try to give them one longer walk each day.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sandy Spring
Leah was wonderful with Ruby and our family. She made us feel comfortable sending numerous videos, pictures and communicating with us. She took care to make Ruby comfortable since she is often shy with new people. She took her for walks and played her favorite games. We highly recommend her to all who are looking for someone to take care of their special pet.

Annesha watched our two dogs for two nights and did a wonderful job. One of our dogs is older with some medical problems and one is just a year old, and she handled their different needs very well. They both seemed extremely happy with her. She is very conscientious and responsive. She sent pictures multiple times a day, which made us quite happy. We would highly recommend her and will be using her again.

Gianna did a great job with the dogs. Not only did she really care about animals, as was evident by our first meeting, but she read my (ridiculously detailed) instructions and remembered everything in them, really following the dogs' routine and understanding what they wanted before they - or I - even had to ask. She sent tons of great pictures and we felt confident that the dogs were in great hands. What we didn't know is that our house, too, was in great hands - it was cleaner when we came home than it was when we left! Seriously: even the dog toys, which are usually scattered all over the house, were all in their toy basket for the first time in years. We highly recommend Gianna to anyone considering her services!

McKenzie did a great job with our two dogs and cat. She was super responsive, sharing pictures each day and communicating any issues. One of our dogs has major trust issues but McKenzie was patient and by the end of the first night, our pup was up with her in the sofa, sleeping comfortably. Thanks so much!
Sierra was amazing to work with. She met us and our 2 dogs, to be sure we were all a good match. She was incredibly friendly to both us and our dogs. We have 1 very shy dog and she was so patient with him. She tried various different methods to gain his trust, and it finally worked. He came to her for years and to give her some "kisses " We knew that when she won him over, it was a definite match!

Alyeska was great caring for our dog and salt water fish tank. She had no trouble following all the unique instructions and helping with anything we messaged her. She sent photos of our pup and kept us in the loop with how she was doing. We came home to a very happy dog. We will definitely use her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sandy Spring on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 11,568 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sandy Spring. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sandy Spring walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sandy Spring maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sandy Spring choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
