Luca was amazing! We had a last minute trip and he was incredibly responsive and was able to meet up for a meet and greet very quickly. He took amazing care of our pup and our home for a few days while we were out of town. He sent frequent updates and pictures and overall was very communicative. Our dog was happy and our house was cleaner than we left it! 15/10, we will absolutely be using Luca again in the future and I recommend you do too!

Misty is without a doubt the best human ever. She is kind and cared so much about my babies. She kept them on the same schedule as we have and follwed the same routine. Including food, correct amounts and right time, and treats and potty breaks. When we got home, our babies were just calm and not stressed and we knew that she did a great job. Other dog sitters we have had stressed our babies and it took several days to get them back to normal. She is trustworthy, kind, truly loves animals and I would most highly recommend her for any pet sitting.

Marty is awesome! He has now stayed with our pups on multiple occasions and has done a great job. He is very trustworthy and respectful of our home and dogs. He has been able to connect with our very hyper girls and understands their need to be active. He reaches out to us just to let us know the dogs are doing well while we're away. He gives us peace of mind while traveling knowing our dogs are safe and being taken care of. That is priceless! Thank you for all of your help, Marty! We highly recommend Marty to anyone who needs someone reliable, trustworthy and in tune with your pets!

Grace was available last minute for pet sitting in my house, and was very accommodating for my open-ended return. She sent pictures and good updates daily. The house looked great when I returned and my dog was very relaxed - I could tell she had enjoyed her stay with Grace and that Grace had treated her very well. I can recommend Grace for your peace of mind while you are away.

When Leah came for the meet and greet, I had a good sense that my precious Luna would be in good hands. Leah stayed at my home for three and a half days while I was out of town in Seattle. She provided excellent care for my playful, high-energy Luna. Leah followed Luna’s care and feeding routine to the letter and sent me daily photos and video clips of them playing fetch and enjoying plenty of quality time together. Leah also went above and beyond by watering both my indoor and outdoor plants and bringing in the daily mail. Coming home to a spotless house, freshly washed sheets, and a calm, happy pup was such a wonderful feeling and made my return a real joy. I would wholeheartedly recommend Leah and will absolutely reach out to her the next time I travel.

Autumn stayed with my three dogs for a week while I was away. She was so great with them! She handled my old dog and my reactive little dog so well. I appreciate how much time she spent with them! Other sitters I’ve used just pop in for meals and leave, then come back close to midnight, only to sleep and take off again in the morning. Autumn actually spent time with them. I always worry about the old guy falling…and the reactive one is a handful…absolutely no worries with her here! Another review noted how clean she was - and they were right - you’d never know she was here…not that I would have minded a mess, as my 3 dogs are a handful and she was so great with them. Best River experience ever, and I’ve had several.

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life. My dad is a herpetologist, so I grew up caring for snakes, turtles, frogs, salamanders, and fish, along with dogs, cats, and chickens. This gave me an early understanding of different species, temperaments, and individual care needs. I recently relocated from Pennsylvania, while my dog is staying with my family, where she is very loved and well cared for. I’m currently saving my Rover earnings toward a road trip home to bring her here to New Mexico. Even knowing she’s in great hands, I understand how hard it can be to miss your pet and how important it is to trust the person caring for them. That perspective is a big part of how I approach pet sitting—I prioritize reliability, communication, and making sure every animal feels safe, comfortable, and cared for. I have experience with animals of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior pets, and I treat each one with the same patience and attention I would want for my own. Please message me your pet sitting needs and I can likely accommodate! My availability is more open than reflected on Rover. Presently, I drop-ins, dog walking, and house sitting/overnight care. I live in a pet-friendly apartment with access to a small dog yard and a nearby park, providing plenty of opportunities for walks, exercise, and outdoor time. I prioritize creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment and will diligently follow all care instructions and routines closely and give each pet the individual attention they need to feel secure and at home.

Marlena is the epitome of a professional who cares for all animals. When a dog sitter left me in a lurch before a big trip, she stepped up with very short notice and provided the most amazing care to all my fur babies. She is patient, communicative, and above all else caring and kind. I could not have asked for a better person to step up in my time of need and wouldn’t hesitate to rebook if our schedules realigned.

I just used Rita for the first time for an overnight pet sit. She is nothing short of absolutely amazing! I felt so comfortable being away from my old (14.5 years) girl because Rita's communication, pictures and updates were great. I never felt rushed going through the quirky house instructions and the pup's likes, dislikes and habits before I left. Rita was patient and really listened to me, which put me at ease and feeling like both house and dog were in great hands. She's a keeper for sure and I feel so relaxed about an upcoming long trip where Rita is staying with my Peanut again!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Leaving my dogs with someone else is never easy, but she made the entire experience completely stress-free. From the moment I left, I knew they were in the best hands. She went above and beyond in every possible way. She treated my dogs like they were her own, kept me updated with photos and messages, and gave them so much love and attention. When I came home, they were happy, relaxed, and so obviously well cared for—which says everything. She also took incredible care of my home. Everything was spotless, organized, and exactly how I left it. It’s rare to find someone who is not only amazing with animals but also so thoughtful, trustworthy, and respectful of your space. The level of care, kindness, and professionalism she provides is honestly unmatched. She genuinely loves animals, and it shows in everything she does. I would trust her with my pets again in a heartbeat, and I can’t imagine using anyone else. If you’re looking for someone to care for your pets as if they were family, stop searching and book her. She is, without a doubt, the best dog sitter you could ever ask For.

Scott did a great job taking care of our home and dogs! The dogs instantly liked him, and he sent photos and updates to us during our trip, as we had agreed upon. One of our dogs came down with a UTI just before we left, and Scott was just fine administering the additional medication that she needed to take for that. (she's all better now! Yay!) Our home was clean when we returned and Scott even kept the outdoor plants alive while we were away - in spite of the dry weather and heat. We look forward to having Scott as a house sitter again!

Erin did an excellent job caring for my 3 cats. When I got home, they seemed relaxed and calm, so I knew they were happy with her, too. One of my cats that doesn't come out to meet visitors was on the sofa next to her, letting her pet him. She sent me photos and gave me updates. Her communication is fantastic. FAQs for House Sitting - Sandia Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Sandia Heights on Rover is $50.15 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 649 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sandia Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sandia Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sandia Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sandia Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sandia Heights. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
