“Brigit was GREAT! Very thoughtful and communicated often to let us know how everything was going. We came back to find our crazy, energetic puppy a calmer puppy. Our older dog initially had some trust issues but Brigit kept working with him and when she came to drop the key off it was obvious that that was no longer an issue since he was so excited to see her. Thank you for taking such great care of our babies! I would definitely recommend Brigit!”
“Beth was very good asking questions during the meet and greet. She has a great demeanor for our puppies. She was great communicating and sharing pictures. Definitely will be using her in the future”

“Shakti is an amazing pet/house sitter! She is responsive and thorough, and she took great care of our dog and two cats. She followed instructions and went above and beyond by trying to mediate the ongoing drama we have between our two cats. We will definitely use her services again!”
“Juan was great! He came to my house last minute while my husband was in the hospital and stayed with Bacon for us. He took great care of our baby. He actually had him come back the next day to help again.”

“Marty is a God-send. I hesitate to write this glowing review for fear that he will get really busy and won't be available when we need him. That being said -- Marty stepped in when we had only had our sweet pup for a week. He stayed for 4 days and was a great communicator while we were away -- he passed along everything he was observing with our new dog (the good, the bad and the ugly). Our pooch has some trust issues but he came around to Marty and they were best buds by the end of the trip. We knew both of our pets would be in great hands (our cat, too!) based on all of the previous reviews and Marty proved all of it to be true. We will be using him again in the future.”

“My daughter and i went on a toadtrip to CA to visit potential colleges for about 10 days. I contacted a lot of people on Rover somewhat last minute. Faris was the first to respond! And I am so happy and appreciative that I chose him! He is the absolute best! He's so kind and friendly and professional and funny and totally loves my 2 husky brothers. He's making home-made dog food due to my pups sensitive digestion. He walks them daily if not twice a day when its not too hot. He's house sitting as well and stays with my guys most of the time. He's very aware of protecting them from the heat. He's a great communicator. He listened to me about the dog training Ive dome so he could keep it up while Im away. He sends messages daily with walking pics and others. He often tells me how much he loves my Huskies! I am overjoyed that I found him!! I know without a doubt that my Pups are having the time of their lives! Thank you Faris!!!”

“As always, Ava takes great care of my Tallulah & Dennis. Always prompt and arrives when she says. I’m so appreciative of the great care she gives my 2. Especially my Dennis who doesn’t really like anyone but me. She provides regular updates and communicates often. I’m so appreciative and grateful. She is a blessing.”

“Hannah was great! She came out to meet our cat (and us) and get the run-down. Monkey seemed to like Hannah right away, which is weird for Monkey. Hannah was responsive throughout our trip and left the place spotless. I'll be happy to have Hannah cat-sit the next time our usual friend is unavailable - we are grateful she got us out of a tight spot this time!”

“Abigail was the best dog/house sitter that I could have asked for. My dogs and cats loved her. My house was tidy when I got home. Will definitely use her again and again. Highly recommend her!”

“Alexus was so sensitive to our nervous pup, Rusty’s needs! He’s new to us and was anxious about us going out; he apparently was jumping up thinking we were home every time the heat came on, so she turned down the temperature so he could be more relaxed. Thank you so much, Alexis!”

“Josie did an amazing job taking care of my dogs and my home. The dogs were very happy and the house looked great. I would definitely have her back again. Thank you!”

“Amber was so professional, responsive and very sweet! She stayed at my house and when I got back from my trip it was exactly as I left it. She sent me photos and videos of my Stout and kept me updated on how he was. I would definitely recommend her and will be rebooking!”

“Vincent cared for our two dogs and was OUTSTANDING. He was extremely professional, prompt, courteous and reliable. My dogs were very well cared for and cannot thank him enough. We will most definitely look to use his services again.”

“Thank you Martina!! The kitties were relaxed and happy when we got home. Martina left our house in great condition and took care of all our plants as well. She was quick to respond and asked good questions about the care of the kitties and our house. I highly recommend her for those looking for a reliable house and pet sitter!”

“Mariah is fantastic! I have a medically fragile dog and she cared for her with so much love and compassion. I received picture and updates all the time. Thank you,Mariah, for being awesome!”

About: Volunteered at a vet clinic & pet sat for friends and family & discovered the joy of comforting pets when they're feeling anxious and home sick. I am pursuing a master's in computer science at UNM, and my schedule can be flexible. I will be home for the most part, but if I ever need to step away it's only for a couple hours. My boyfriend and I work as a team in caring for our dogs, and we do the same for our clients. It's normal for your pet to feel homesick, so we do our best to make them feel like they are at home and give them the quality time and affection they are used to from their loved ones ❤️ Baxter is 9 yo pit mix & Chiqui is an 8 yo Pomeranian/chihuahu. We have a small fenced yard and a kennel that Baxter uses for whenever we have to leave the house to run errands. Our dogs sleep in their beds upstairs in our bedroom, and we set up your pet's bed next to us as well. We typically ask clients to bring their pet's bed or crate/kennel and a blanket or toy they like to cuddle with to remind them of home 🤍 If you could also pack their food, food bowl, and leash for their stay, that would be great! 🐾
“Jesus did a wonderful job with our two dogs, home and plants in our home. His kindness and gentleness is so evident in how easily our dogs became comfortable with him. He very regularly sent us photos of the walks he took them on and the feeding times. It was amazing how well the plants did under his care even though he said he wasn’t a “plant person”. He paid attention to details of caring for our home; we felt confident that everything was well cared for and were able to relax on our vacation. We would highly recommend him and would make use of his services again.”

Mariah was amazing! Lots of communication and pictures. Kept the dogs and chicks well watered, fed and happy. Took amazing care of the house while staying here in our home. We will use her always if we can! Highly recommend Mariah! We love her and so did our pets❤️

CK took excellent care of our little dogs and our house. It made such a difference in our going away. We didn’t have to worry about anything. When you see Kay was there and was taking care of everything. The doggies just loved her and she sent us pictures. She’s just the best.

We were a bit nurvous leaving our pups, River and Ollie, with someone new but Nick was great with them both! He took great care of them, feeding twice a day and giving River her daily medication. Nick even gave River a bath after an unfortunate run-in with a skunk. He sent regular updates and pictures so we knew how things were going. Everything was great when we got back, the dogs were happy and he even kept the house very clean, bonus! We normally have family watch our dogs but will definately use Nick again when family does not work out.

We were so grateful that Daniel was able to watch our dog on such short notice! He did a great job with our dog who has severe separation anxiety! He is a great conversationalist and we felt comfortable having him at our house. We look forward to having him watch our dog in the future!

Cannot recommend Lily highly enough! Communicative and went out of her way to make sure she had everything she needed before house/pet sitting. She made my travels so much easier knowing everyone was well cared for. Came home to happy pets and a well cared for space. Thank you thank you!!

Teresa was so great staying with our dog. He’s kind of a goofy guy. And she just came in and handled him very well. And for us she was so good at keeping us updated and with pictures. Our house looked perfect when we returned. I am grateful it all went so well.

We hired Keri to pet/house sit for us while we were away over a 2 week period. I could not be more thrilled with her work! All 4 of my pets adored her. Keri sent so many pictures and videos. I never had to worry about how they were doing. I loved seeing all the fun they were having, especially the wonderful walks my dog got to go on. Keri left our house in amazing condition. Everything was clean including fresh bed linens on the bed she used. She even left a note detailing what pet supplies we needed to replenish soon. It made coming home so easy. The pets were excited to see us, but didn't freak out and get overwhelmed when we walked through the door. That was a sign to me that they had been thoroughly taken care of and loved while we were gone.

Shakti is an amazing pet/house sitter! She is responsive and thorough, and she took great care of our dog and two cats. She followed instructions and went above and beyond by trying to mediate the ongoing drama we have between our two cats. We will definitely use her services again!
Amie was amazing! Very communicative and quick with responses. She was very thorough when meeting the dogs which made us feel at ease. I have a generally anxious dog that I’ve never left with anyone else and Amie was able to make her feel comfortable and work with her. I really appreciated the frequent updates and picture of my dogs while I was away. Definitely will be using her in the future!

Isabella house sat while I went out of town and was unable to bring my sweet pup. She treated my place like her own, took such good care of my pup, and even sent pics while I was away. Her skills eased my stress about leaving my dog behind, because I knew he was in great hands. I will book her every time!!!

Peggy house sat for me watching my dog and two cats for about a week. The animals all looked like they had a great time and Peggy provided updates and photos daily. Communication before and during my trip was fantastic, and I’ll be looking forward to utilizing her services again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
