“Kiera did a wonderful job housesitting and petsitting Gia and Ferris while we were on a two week trip abroad. She kept them on their schedules and provided lots of pictures and feedback. Highly recommend and we won’t hesitate to hire her for our next trip.”

“Amelia stayed in our home and looked after our geriatric small dog recently. (This was our first experience with Rover). On a previous trip when she’d been boarded, our dog hadn’t eaten and had lost several lbs, so we needed help. Amelia was perfect! My dog was able to stay home with no change to her routine. I received pics, texts and had an stress-less trip thanks to Amelia!”

“Very punctual, communication and timing were excellent and above all else my pup absolutely Loved Gavin! Highly recommend using Gavin for walks/out of town trips requiring a sitter!”

“Olivia was AMAZING!! Highly recommend her. She stayed at my house with my two dogs and sent daily updates with photos. She was everything I was looking for in a dog sitter. She even swept my floors before leaving which was above and beyond.”

“Emma is a fantastic person to care for your pets and your home. After finding out I needed last minute surgery, I worried about finding the right care for my dogs. Emma flawlessly cared for my two semi-neurotic chihuahuas with love, humor and professionalism while I was gone for multiple nights. I received timely updates, my dogs were happy, their medication schedule was adhered to properly, my home was just as I left it (if not better!), and overall I returned to the feeling that I had worried about my dogs for nothing and everything had worked out in the best way possible. I can’t thank Emma enough for making me and my and pups feel safe and secure that every detail would be handled just as if I was home with them.”

“Allen was great! I needed a last minute sitter and Allen was the perfect choice. Great communication and put up with my silly dogs with no complaints. Left my house in great condition. I look forward to having him stay with my beasties again. Thank you so much! 💜”
About: I have been around family pets from the age of 5 years old. At 17, I raised my own dog from a puppy as well as participated in obedience training up to the advanced level. I have worked with dogs of various breeds and sizes through house sitting and volunteering, and I have experience with dogs of all ages from newborn puppies to senior dogs. I have also had pet cats and enjoy caring for them and their needs. PLEASE NOTE: New clients must book a minimum of 5 nights for the first stay. My job allows me to work fully remote, meaning that my place of work allows me to be flexible for extended stays as well as have pauses throughout each day for the ideal at-home pet care schedule. I strive to maintain a routine as close to each pet's home life as possible. I set clear and simple boundaries for clients' pets that reflect those of their owner and allow them to feel at home with me as their sitter.
“Shianna was recommended to us by our regular sitter and we could not be more grateful! Shianna scheduled a meet and greet quickly and was super understanding with our girl dog who gets a bit nervous with new people. Shianna was super sweet and receptive to our dogs needs. She was kind, sent regular updates and kept us informed of her schedule during our weekend trip. We came home to a clean home and happy animals! Overall we would absolutely trust Shianna to care for our pups again, and will be reaching out for future needs. 10/10 would recommend for anyone who is in need of a trustworthy person to look after their home and their animals! ✨”

“Ross was fantastic. He asked very thorough questions about care for our dog, and how to be a good guest in our home. He stayed in regular touch with updates and photos, and We returned to a clean house and a very happy pup! Highly recommend him for walks, boarding or housesitting”

“Blair was wonderful. This is the first time using her. ( she lives next door so it was extremely convenient). We've had the puppies for a month, this was the 1st time leaving them. They warmed up to real quick. Followed instructions. Will definitely use her again.”

“Abby did a great job taking care of our two dogs and cat while we were out of town for vacation! It was such great peace of mind to have someone with our animals while we were gone. Abby did a great job communicating and staying in touch with us, providing updates and pics throughout the week! Will definitely use her services again.”

“Amanda took great care of our dogs while we were away for a couple of weeks. She sent photos every couple of days which was appreciated. The house was as we left it.”

About: I started my pet sitting business once I graduated high school in 2012. I did brief pet sitting while in high school and that’s what made me realize I wanted to have a career that involved being around animals. I’ve watched from the age of 8 weeks old puppies to 15 year old dogs. I’ve also watched cats, ducks, and peacocks. I do currently work full time as a receptionist but I plan on quitting that to make my pet sitting business a full time gig for me. I usually pet sit in the clients home due to me having to move back in with my parents. I either stay at their house or do visits. Whichever makes the clients more comfortable.
About: I have a dog walking and pet sitting business called Furry Up & Walk. I have many years of experience handling and training dogs and treat all of the animals like my own! I have a dog service business that I work full time 7 days a week. I can also handle multiple dogs at once and work on leash manners and commands. I can cater to each individual dogs needs. I can help with high activity levels or just cuddles on the couch. I am here to make your animals comfortable while you are away. I provide care for all types or animals. Chickens, horses, goats, cats, dogs, reptiles, hamsters, guinea pigs, etc! You name it, I’ll take care of it! I care for all types of pets as my full time job. I am available days, nights, weekends, and holidays. I can be your go to pet care provider! I come to your home to provide top notch care. I follow your pets needs and wants and any of your wishes. It is important to me that you feel comfortable and have full confidence that your Furry Friends are well taken care of!
About: I enjoy taking active dogs for long walks & runs! No issue providing meds & special attention for older fellas/ladies. I have sat for cats for extended stays as well. Happy to do so again! I work remote 3-5 days a week so I can take breaks to walk your dogs or give them a potty break a few times per day, including midday. I currently have no pets at home, however I grew up with 2-3 dogs and a cat for 18 years. I'll love taking your dog for long walks/runs if they need it! I am happy to care for special needs animals or those who require medications at each meal. Just send me your instructions and I'll treat them as you would! I am open to sitting cats, but would consider myself a dog person.

About: I can’t remember an age where I wasn’t helping birth and raise kittens and puppies, turtles, or rodents. From having blind, toothless senior chihuahuas and senile cats…to a litter of brand new pups or kittens struggling to catch their first breath I’ve been part of it. I’ve had several rodents and reptiles, and cared for my friends and family birds as well. Trained puppies and kittens to use the potty and more. Also helped with a few farm animals too. I work only 20-25hrs a week, so I’ll always be home within 6hours or less. Outside of work, I’m home hanging out with my kids and furbabies. I have two e.s.a. Certified cats who tend to hide away when someone new is here. I’ve had them both since babies (13y & 3y). Keep things clean, organized, healthy, I had a cleaning company too. I don’t have crates on hand or an outside fence but I have a huge yard, the neighbor has a spayed female American bulldog, very friendly. There are farm animals next door. However, I do appreciate being where the pet is comfortable and knows its space.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 803 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Saint Helena. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Saint Helena walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Saint Helena maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Saint Helena choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
