I booked with Shayla very last minute to housesit for a quick overnight trip. Shayla being there put my mind at ease, and I appreciated her being able to help us out last minute like that.

I hired Caroline to petsit my dog Kobe for seven days. Kobe is special needs as he is four years old and was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of three. He takes anti-seizure meds throughout the day which is one of the reasons I work from home, and I am super overprotective of him. When we did our first meet-and-greet, Caroline came armed with a notepad and questions about Kobe, his likes, dislikes, and his habits. She wanted me to show her where everything was and was very mindful of every thing I told her concerning Kobe and his routine. She is a very kind young lady and seemingly loves animals. I have a camera and was able to check in on Caroline and Kobe throughout the 4.5 hours she'd be at my house. She is really responsive and good about letting me know when she arrives at the house, takes pictures throughout her shift, also videotapes her giving him his meds, and even proof of his poop events. All this is stuff she might have learned in her training with Rover, or just from her own experiences. I didn't ask for all that detail, but am not complaining to get the whole scoop on my dog while I am out. To pass the time while she sits my pooch, Caroline reads, writes, does stuff to keep herself occupied, even takes short naps with my dog, and I appreciate she feels comfortable enough in my home to be relaxed because our pets can sense those types of things. When Kobe first met Caroline he could not stop giving her kisses, and jumping up on her lap, he was so happy and excited he was crying he just could not contain his joy. Our pets are the ultimate judges, so I suggest you do a meet-and-greet with her and take it from there. Do I recommend her? Absolutely, as I will be using her again and again.

Sara was great. She was able to come meet Poppy prior to agreeing to the term to make sure both she and the pup would be comfortable. She gave regular updates and was accommodating to the nuances of our home and pup.

Katie was fantastic!!! She was great with our dog Brady and he just loved her! She took him on walks every day and kept us updated (with pictures) while we were on our vacation... She looked after things at the house and left it as if she'd never been here! We've been home for a day now and Brady keeps looking for her to come back... We would recommend Katie highly to anyone looking for a house or dog sitter, or both... We will definitely plan to use her again and I'm sure that Brady can't wait!! 5 stars and A+++

About: I grew up in a home with both dogs and cats and have always loved caring for animals. When I was six years old, my parents gifted me a kitten named Sophia. She became my best friend and lived to be 20 years old before recently passing away from chronic kidney disease (CKD). Caring for Sophia throughout her life taught me a lot abt what cats need to thrive, including administering subcutaneous fluids and supporting a senior pet with medical needs. I also volunteer with a local cat rescue, where I spend time caring for cats and learning about their unique personalities and needs. Since Sophia’s passing, I’ve realized how much I miss having animals in my daily life. Pet sitting allows me to share that love and care with other people’s pets while giving owners peace of mind that their furry family members are in good hands. I’m currently working full time but available everyday after 3:30/4. With the schedule I have, it allows me to still devote time to caring for your fur babies! I’m more than happy to come to your home to care for your pet so that you can enjoy your time away from home without anxiety!

Stella did an amazing job taking care of our dogs and we highly recommend you book with her! We recently went out of town and booked Stella to watch our dogs while we were away. She went above and beyond! She was able to handle our two huge dogs perfectly fine with no problem at all. She sent us picture updates each day while we were away, and even followed all of our very detailed instructions we left for our dogs. If you need someone who will do a great job, we highly recommend you book with Stella!

She’s an excellent communicator and shared updates, pictures and videos with us regularly and reached out when she had questions. When we returned home everything was clean and in order which is always a huge plus when returning from a vacation.

About: I’ve taken care of neighbors dogs for years! I have three chihuahuas and a german shepard hound dog mix! What sets me apart is my dedication to anything I do. I can promise a safe and caring environment for your best friends! As well as someone who truly cares about giving people the best service possible. I am in school and work part time! However even if my availability doesn’t align with your needs, I might still be available! Due to Rover settings I cannot put in hourly settings, but I am available certain times that I cannot put in the app. I am currently looking for a part time job while I am enrolled in school, and want to do something I love as well ! I have a fenced in backyard, as well as a doggy door so they can have access 24/7! Additionally I have a large neighborhood to take any fur baby’s on walks.

He was proactive with communication, sending daily photos and updates that gave me total peace of mind while I was away. Not only was Hayley happy and relaxed when we returned, but Marshall also left my place just as clean as I had left it! I will definitely be booking him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy, communicative, and tidy sitter!

My dogs love Neva and I knew they were happy and well cared for while my wife and I were gone. We received photos galore and detailed updates daily which reaffirmed that they were in good care. My dogs are Dalmatian and Catahoula hound and need lots of exercise or they tend to be mischievous when no one is around. Neva would take them running daily and send photos of them all tuckered out and asleep afterwards. Just what they needed. Thank you Neva for caring and loving my dogs.

Haley did a great job taking care of our dogs for a week while we were out of town. She took them on several walks despite the Columbia heat in July. I could tell they were well loved from the pictures she sent while we were away. She also was very helpful with a water issue we had at the house while we were gone. Definitely would use her in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Skippers Corner

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 773 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Skippers Corner. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Skippers Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Skippers Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Skippers Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Skippers Corner. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
