About: I enjoy taking active dogs for long walks & runs! No issue providing meds & special attention for older fellas/ladies. I have sat for cats for extended stays as well. Happy to do so again! I work remote 3-5 days a week so I can take breaks to walk your dogs or give them a potty break a few times per day, including midday. I currently have no pets at home, however I grew up with 2-3 dogs and a cat for 18 years. I'll love taking your dog for long walks/runs if they need it! I am happy to care for special needs animals or those who require medications at each meal. Just send me your instructions and I'll treat them as you would! I am open to sitting cats, but would consider myself a dog person.
“Katie was fantastic!!! She was great with our dog Brady and he just loved her! She took him on walks every day and kept us updated (with pictures) while we were on our vacation... She looked after things at the house and left it as if she'd never been here! We've been home for a day now and Brady keeps looking for her to come back... We would recommend Katie highly to anyone looking for a house or dog sitter, or both... We will definitely plan to use her again and I'm sure that Brady can't wait!! 5 stars and A+++”

“Very punctual, communication and timing were excellent and above all else my pup absolutely Loved Gavin! Highly recommend using Gavin for walks/out of town trips requiring a sitter!”

“Olivia was great with both of our dogs. She kept us well informed and the dogs were happy when we returned home. Olivia stayed overnight and was super responsible and respectful of our home. We highly recommend Olivia and will certainly reach out in the future!”

“Ian was absolutely amazing! He kept us updated everyday about our pups and they absolutely loved him. Thank you for giving us a peace of mind while we were away knowing our pups were in good hands. Will definitely refer Ian to others!”

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats for a while now. I mainly take care of my own pets and I am wanting to get into pet sitting. I have a dog and two cats back home. I promise your pets are in good hands!! I am a student at UNCW in need of a part time job! If we work together I can show you my class schedule - I am very flexible! Furry friends are so important to me. I absolutely love them and put so much love and care into them. I will walk them, love on them, feed them, and do whatever else they need:)
“Abby did a great job with our Yorkie. This is our second time having Abby babysit our fur baby. She also leaves your house in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend Abby.”

About: I have been caring for animals (outside of my own) for over 10 years. I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life and was so happy to be able to get the opportunity to help take care of and love on others’ pet family members! I have experience with all size and age range of dogs, as well as dogs with medical needs. Cats are also a plus to hang out with! In Texas, Ive been a sitter in Lubbock, and sitter, walker, and drop in in Austin, and have done walks, sittings, and drop in in Fort Worth. New to Wilmington and would love to help care for your fur babies! I currently work from home! So I’m able to pop over to others houses during the day and if a last minute pop in is needed :) My own puppies and cat I love with my whole heart! For them and others animals I ensure that I am attentive to their cues and needs, especially for new dogs I am meeting - ensuring I am respecting their cues and taking the time to build trust. With drop in services and walking services it is lots of new people meet and I love to ensure that animals are comfortable around me. Additionally I work to communicate with pet parents and make sure that I am knowledgeable about each pet’s unique characteristics and personality!
“Trinity was reliable, took good care of our energetic puppy, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. We appreciated her help and would be happy to recommend her to others looking for someone dependable to care for their pets.”

“Amelia stayed in our home and looked after our geriatric small dog recently. (This was our first experience with Rover). On a previous trip when she’d been boarded, our dog hadn’t eaten and had lost several lbs, so we needed help. Amelia was perfect! My dog was able to stay home with no change to her routine. I received pics, texts and had an stress-less trip thanks to Amelia!”

“Allen was great! I needed a last minute sitter and Allen was the perfect choice. Great communication and put up with my silly dogs with no complaints. Left my house in great condition. I look forward to having him stay with my beasties again. Thank you so much! 💜”
“Milena was absolutely wonderful with my two dogs! She responded to my request for a dog sitter immediately and was friendly, flexible and professional. My dogs are pretty high energy and nervous around new people, but they quickly warmed up to Milena. I knew my pups were in great hands with her and it made my weekend away that much more relaxing. She updated me regularly with how they were doing and sent great photos. I would highly recommend her and can’t wait to have her back!”

“Kelsey did a great job watching my dog! She was very communicative and sent pictures! I really appreciate how she not only cared for my pup but also my home! Highly recommend her!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 779 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Montague. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Montague walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Montague maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Montague choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Montague. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
