“Cai was extremely accommodating and sent tons of photos and very clearly genuinely cares about and loves animals. We discovered through this sit that our dog has separation anxiety and Cai went above and beyond to make our dog comfortable.”

“Allie agreed to dog sit my 2 pups rather last minute, and we are incredibly grateful! She came and met the pups and us before our trip, and kept us updated while we were gone. Our pups loved having her around, and we will definitely be booking again!”

“Abby was great with my girl! This was just an overnight trip but she took great care of Elsa in the short time she was with her. Great communication! I plan to use her again in a few months for a week long trip I have.”

“Malia has been fantastic with our nervous shepherd, Selkie. I am very cautious about who I leave her with and Malia handled her fabulously, made sure she had the best time and keep us updated with photos the whole time we were away. It was super reassuring and so happy she could take care of her both times we have been away. Highly recommend and will 100% be calling upon her to pet sit for us in the future!”

“Ashlyn was amazing! She met with us prior to sitting with our dogs and spent time getting to know them. She even asked if our oldest dog had Cushing's Disease and that prompted me to speak with our vet and have him tested, which turned out to be positive. We did hire her for a 1 hour drop in prior to us leaving for her to spend more time with our dogs and get to know our home. We felt comfortable leaving Ashlyn in charge while we left the country on vacation. She sent us photos and texts with updates. You will not find a better pet sitter than Ashlyn! Our dogs are extremely spoiled and set in their ways and they bonded very well with her. She truly cares about animals.”

About: My grandmother lives out of town, she has multiple dogs multiple cats, has owned horses, and keeps chickens and i have house sat for her before for well over a week. I’m great with animals and can fit into any schedule she needs, therefore I’m always the one to house sit while she is away. Not because I’m family but because I have the experience and ability. Monday-Thursday I’m completely free. I like to keep my weekends free but if I am wanted/needed arrangements can be made. I prefer to walk in the morning because it allows me to feel energized throughout the day. If there is a specific way I will follow the owners instructions, if left none, I will simply treat the pets how I would want me pets treated because I love my fur babies.
“Aunya watched my dog for me while I was out of town. My dog is an anxious rescue, and Aunya did so well with her! I’m glad I could have someone trustworthy and reliable to care for my fur baby.”

“Austin was a great sitter and house guest. He was consistent with sending us updates and photos and made sure our dog was comfortable while we were out of town. He was respectful of our home and left it nice and clean. Will be booking again!”

“Alyce took good care of my 2 poodles. She gave them their meds and kept the cone on one of my poodles due to a broken nail. She keep clean throws on couch and sent photos and updates daily. I will definitely use her again in the future.”

“Angelica is the one you need. She was wonderful with my four fur babies! She has a peaceful and calm energy that everyone appreciates. She communicates very well, is prompt, thorough, and above all genuinely cares. I felt completely comfortable leaving my house and babies in her care. I will be booking with her in the future! I can't recommend her enough 🫡🙂😇”

“Nolan was wonderful! She made sure my dogs had exercise before the heat set in and was truthworthy with access to the home without someone being there. Truly appreciate her and will hire her again!”

“Elizabeth was a fabulous house sitter and companion for our girl, Coco. When our regular sitter was unavailable we reached out and she was very responsive. During our time away she stayed in constant contact , and we t us tons of pics where we could tell Coco was truly enjoying herself. Our house was well taken care of too. Highly professional and reliable, Elizabeth is a top notch sitter!”

About: Hi! I’m Emma! Dogs have been a huge part of my life since I was 4 years old. I grew up with a German Shepherd mix and a Pit Bull mix, so I have experience with big and small, high-energy dogs and understand the attention and exercise they need. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, and they have a special place in my heart. Whether your pup is young and playful or older and prefers a slower pace, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, loved, and well cared for. I genuinely love being around dogs and would be thrilled to spend time with yours! I’m a full time touring musician, but I have multiple months in the year where I’m at home and don’t have much to do. I’m almost always available on weekdays, and sometimes weekends. I’m also usually available anytime between 8am-8pm I know how important it is to trust someone with both your pet and your home. ☺️ I carefully follow each pet’s routine, make sure they get plenty of attention and exercise, and always prioritize their safety and comfort. I keep a clean environment, doublecheck doors and gates, and communicate regularly with owners through updates and photos. My goal is to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible while giving you peace of mind while you’re away! 🐾

“Bobby & Victoria took good care of our two kitties and dog during their stay. They knew how to be around all three animals and their very different personalities. I would be happy to have them pet sit again!”

“Karen was amazing! She let me know when she got to the house and kept me updated with tons of pictures of my dogs. I had no worries being away from them under Karen’s care! Definitely plan on booking with her again!! Thank you again, Karen!”

About: I have loved dogs since I was a little girl. My parents couldn’t find me when I was 5, finally discovered me curled up sleeping in the dog house with our dogs. I am a dog mom and love my babies. I can walk, feed, play, bath, and definitely love your baby. I have breed several litters so I can take care of expecting moms, and puppies too. Pets are family!! I am very flexible. I am available weekends and weekdays for all your pets needs for walking or sitting. I love animals and will treat them like my own. I am very trustworthy and will respect your home . I will take extremely good care of your babies and love on them and probably spoil them.
“Sarah B. is simply AMAZING, Awesome, Extraordinary! Our four-year old poodle, Braxton has never been kenneled or left alone while we were away even a few days at a time. We recently traveled for over a week, and all of our extended family support was going with us! So, we contacted Sarah through Rover and all of our anxiety and concern evaporated at our first meet. Braxton climbed in her arms and cuddled like meeting an old friend. We were immediately set at ease and comfortable that we could turn our house and fur baby over for her protection. She is organized, smart, and most importantly, caring and comforting to dog and human alike. She kept us posted with lots of photos of walks, naps, play time with the hose, and cuddling on the couch. Communication from Europe was seamless, and every time we checked in, she was there to make us rest easy. We feel like we added a new member to our extended family, and you can be sure that we will hire her ANYTIME we need to leave home - even if only for a day. She could easily double her daily fee and would still be under paid for the value she brings. Peace of mind for your loved one while away is worth more than money! THANK YOU, SARAH - We love you wholeheartedly!”

“This is the second time I’ve used Josue and I have not had any problems at all. He is very good with Mylo and very responsive when needed. Kept my place in good condition and took great care of Mylo! Will be using him again!”

“Great dog dog sitter. When I returned from my trip I found she left my home tidy and my dog was healthy, happy and clearly card for. I really enjoyed the pics and vids she sent and would hire her again!”

About: I truly love animals, and it shows in the way I care for them. I don’t just “watch” pets, I bond with them. I’m patient and energetic enough to keep active ones happy and engaged. I pride myself on being dependable and keeping owners updated with messages and photos. I currently work full time from 8 to 4:30 PM. Once I am off work I focus my attention on your fur babies making sure they get the energy out of going on a walk! I do not keep pets at my house due to having 3 dogs of my own. In your own home I will keep their routine consistent as possible. I follow feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any special instructions closely. I make sure pets feel secure in their familiar space while keeping everything tidy and respecting your home.

Pippi and Pepper immediately loved Kai when we first met at our meet and greet. While staying with them, Kai sent several updates a day which made me feel way less stressed leaving them for 10 days. Thank you Kai! The girls will look forward to seeing you again!
Kimberlina was an absolute gem! I left my three dogs with Kimberlina while I was away, and she took such wonderful care of them. She kept them happy, active, and well-loved the entire time—they were all wagging tails and full of energy when I got home. She sent regular photos and videos throughout the stay, which meant the world to me whenever I was missing them; she always timed them perfectly and responded right away. On top of the great dog care, she went above and beyond by cleaning the house so thoroughly—it smelled fresh and amazing when I returned. Communication was excellent from start to finish, making the whole experience stress-free. Kimberlina is professional, caring, and truly reliable. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter. We’ll definitely be booking with her again! Thank you so much, Kimberlina! 🐾
Ashlyn watched my dog and cat for 7 days and she was excellent. Very attentive to my request and flexible to stay an extra 2 days due to an emergency which required my stay to be extended. My dog and cat loved her. I will be using Ashlyn for my critters when I need to travel. I can't recommend her enough. She also stayed overnight with my guys for the week and tbe house was in the same condition as it was left when I returned.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ryland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ryland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ryland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ryland. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
