“Lily did an amazing job with my dog, Maverick. He was super anxious about the bad weather, and Lily was incredibly patient and understanding of his anxiety. She was very communicative, my place was well taken care of, and I came home to a happy dog. I would highly recommend booking Lily!”

“Erin was so excellent with our two doodles! She sent us plenty of updates to give us peace of mind, and although we did not ask her to clean, I’m pretty sure she did. Our home did not look like somebody had been here dog sitting/house sitting while we were gone. We will definitely check to see if Erin is available again if we need future dog care. 10/10 highly recommend!”

“Stephanie was fantastic watching our French Bulldog! We got a number of updates and she went above and beyond. We very much appreciated her and will be using her again!”

About: I’ve loved animals of all kinds since I was a kid! For the last 8 years I have worked as a veterinary assistant working hands on with pets of all kinds including anxious pets, special needs pets, and geriatric pets. I’m comfortable giving medications or following specific directions for pets that need just a little more attention. I of course love pets of all ages whether that’s playing with young pets or giving older pets more accommodations. I’m currently working part-time at an animal clinic, so I’ll have plenty of time to care for your pet! I go for walks twice daily already and your pet would make a perfect addition! I live in an apartment with my 13 year old cat, Juliet. Juliet is a very sweet cat but will typically hide when other pets are boarded in the home. My apartment is located in the Volker neighborhood with parks and plenty of walking trails nearby. For in home boarding, pets are welcome on my furniture including the bed. I am happy to follow any and all requests for boarding / caretaking inside your home, including giving medications either orally or injectables.
“Julia took excellent care of our girl. We made a last minute request for Julia to extend her stay and she was kind enough to accommodate. I would definitely recommend Julia for your pet sitting needs.”

“Maryn did a great job watching our kitties. She stuck to our routine with their feeding schedules and left our home exactly as we left it. She even went above and beyond with leaving food and water out for the neighborhood cats who were not included in the booking but who my husband and I look after. We will definitely be booking with Maryn again!”

“Brooklyn came right in and took charge, and Tufa took to her very quickly. She didn't get a ton of acclimation time or instruction due to short notice for care, and my crazy busy day. I was impressed with how at ease she was with the situation and that made it so much easier for me. Brooklyn definitely cares about providing top notch care for your pets, I highly recommend her and hope to have her care for Tufa again.”

“We've used Mirette twice now to house-sit/dog-sit our older Westie, and she did a great job! She was great at communicating with us and was at the house the vast majority of the time with our dog, which we loved! The house was clean when we got home and we had no issues! We would recommend Mirette, and would definitely use her again the next time we travel!”

“Another 10 star performance by Abby! There are very few people we would trust with our animals and our house for a week while we traveled overseas— Abby is at the top of the list! We received daily updates/photos and she took great care of our boys. Excellent communicator before and during her stay which gives us peace of mind. House was immaculate when we got home. Thank you Abby!”

“Kirsten did an excellent job taking care of our dog Lili for a week while we were on vacation. Lili was so happy to have an overnight cuddle buddy and go on her walks during the day. Our house looked just like we left it when we came back. I highly recommend booking Kirsten if you need a house sitter!”

About: I am a very passionate and driven person when it comes to any and all animals! I currently am the owner of a 10 year old Belgian Malinois, but for many years I have taken sole care of both dogs and cats of all different breeds, and am well experienced in all general pet care. All of the dogs I ever had as a kid were trained as puppies almost solely by myself and my brothers. My mom used to make me read books and do online research about the breed of dog we had, different training techniques, K9 first-aid, and so much more. Being as passionate as I am about animals, those studies were well retained, and while I don't have professional experience, the knowledge gained from doing it on my own with 9 different dogs over my lifetime have graced me with at the very least, an in depth knowledge of all different stages of dog ownership. In regards to puppies: I have experience potty training, leash training, crate training, and what I would call experienced but moderate obedience training skills. I know how to deal with things like food aggression, how to properly establish the "hierarchy" or "pack mentality" and other conditioning behaviors. As well as handling young puppies, I've even assisted a momma in giving birth to a new litter, and taking special care of a brand new litter of 7 pups! So my experience with all dogs truly does begin at birth and goes all the way to end of life care. For the old timers: The couch potatoes in our lives need just as much, and sometimes even more care than their energetic and young counterparts. I have experience with things like giving medication and shots, managing specialty diets, and a number of other age specific needs. I'm very patient and am willing to take the time to get to know your pet and what they need. Every animal has a different personality and needs attention in different ways, and I'm very attentive to that! I will always treat your pet as if they were my own, and will to the best of my ability make sure that your pet is well taken care of at all times. I’m almost always available. My location says WA, but that was just my last permanent address before taking the leap of full time van life. I travel for a living, and that allows me to accept side jobs and pet care at a moments notice. I have lived with my own dog in a variety of different conditions. From being on our own in both houses and apartments, to having a full house of dogs and cats. I am well versed in any additional responsibilities and special care based on living situations, and have no trouble go up and down a few flights of stairs for potty breaks/walks, etc.
“Lindsey was absolutely fantastic! She stayed at our home while caring for our special needs dog and cat, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was incredibly attentive, patient, and compassionate, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. She sent thoughtful daily updates with photos, which made it so much easier being away from our pup. It was clear she genuinely cared and took the time to understand our dog’s unique needs and routine. When we returned, our house was spotless and exactly as we left it. Lindsey went above and beyond in every way, and we truly appreciated her professionalism, communication, and kindness. We have already booked Lindsey again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, and caring to watch their pets!”

“My wife and I had Reed watch our two Golden Retrievers for a whole week while we were out of town. We had Reed stay at our house during this time and came home to two happy and healthy pups. He was able to manage both of their needs just fine. Reed was very professional and updated us with pictures throughout the week, which we appreciated. He took good care of our house as well, and we came back to it in the same condition when we left. We plan to try and use Reed in the future if further care for our pups if needed.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Roeland Park
Wonderful sitter! She was warm, detail-oriented, and immediately became best friends with our dog. She kept me updated with photos throughout the visit, which I really appreciated. Her experience caring for dogs needing extra care gave me great peace of mind, and I would absolutely trust her with dog again!

Courtney and Sara are so awesome. They always treat our house like it is theirs and our pups absolutely adore them. This time it happened to be our bulldog Tilly's birthday while we were gone and they threw her a party complete with a hat, cake, and lots of pics. They are the best!

It was our first time having Kayma house sit and stay with the two dogs. It went great and we will definitely use her again. We travel as a family once or twice a year and have found that the dogs are less stressed if they get to stay home. Both middle age pups, one more shy than the other. Kayma shared photos and updates each day. Glad to have connected with Kayma.

Charlett was absolutely wonderful with my dog! She gave me so much peace of mind while I was away by sending regular updates, photos, and videos, and it was clear Poppy was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. Charlett was reliable, communicative, and genuinely attentive to Poppy’s needs. When I picked her up, she was relaxed, happy, and had clearly been treated like part of the family. It’s obvious Charlotte truly loves animals, and that comes through in the level of care she provides. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Charlotte again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable dog sitter!

I really appreciated Evelyn's flexibility with this booking. The nature of this trip meant that my exact return time was a moving target, and Evie was communicative, adaptive, and helpful in making sure there was no interruption in Pippa's care, which was a huge aid to me in a time of stress.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Roeland Park on Rover is $29.96 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Roeland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Roeland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Roeland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
