“Erin is wonderful! She house and dog sat for two weeks. Trustworthy and loving to our two dogs and send photos of them every day. Outstanding communicator. Will use again and again!”

“Julia took excellent care of our girl. We made a last minute request for Julia to extend her stay and she was kind enough to accommodate. I would definitely recommend Julia for your pet sitting needs.”

“Stephanie was fantastic watching our French Bulldog! We got a number of updates and she went above and beyond. We very much appreciated her and will be using her again!”

“Lori was amazing - one of my dogs is very high-strung and barked when she first arrived, riling up my downstairs neighbors who complained to the condo management. She worked with the front desk and Pippin to quiet him down, and reassured me throughout the entire stay with regular pictures and feedback. I absolutely recommend her 100%.”

“Lily did an amazing job with my dog, Maverick. He was super anxious about the bad weather, and Lily was incredibly patient and understanding of his anxiety. She was very communicative, my place was well taken care of, and I came home to a happy dog. I would highly recommend booking Lily!”

“Abby was fabulous she gave our dogs extra special care and she did a wonderful job taking care of them. We look forward to having Abby watch our furry friends again almost as much as they do. 10 stars”
“Maryn did a great job watching our kitties. She stuck to our routine with their feeding schedules and left our home exactly as we left it. She even went above and beyond with leaving food and water out for the neighborhood cats who were not included in the booking but who my husband and I look after. We will definitely be booking with Maryn again!”

“Susannah stayed in our home with Phoebe and her dog Oliver. She left the house spotless and sent happy video of Phoebe every day with reassuring comments! I will definitely hire her again!”

“Kate was amazing!! She checked in often and sent photos of my dogs daily! Dolly is usually timid of people but she was really comfortable with Kate! She stayed at my home and was with them majority of the time! They had constant care and attention. When I returned she started laundry for the bedding and towels, and left everything spotless! It doesn’t even look like she was here which is such a blessing to come back to a clean home! I would recommend to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“Brooklyn came right in and took charge, and Tufa took to her very quickly. She didn't get a ton of acclimation time or instruction due to short notice for care, and my crazy busy day. I was impressed with how at ease she was with the situation and that made it so much easier for me. Brooklyn definitely cares about providing top notch care for your pets, I highly recommend her and hope to have her care for Tufa again.”

“We are so incredibly grateful for Whitney and everything that she’s done for us. Whitney brings a natural and consistent loving approach to her work. It was immediately clear that her care and supportive approach sets her apart from others. For this stay, Whitney cared for our two cats and one dog for a week. Due to the weather, we were delayed for 1 1/2 days coming home. Whitney was beyond understanding and did not hesitate to continue caring for our babies and home while we were away. We feel lucky and privileged to have met Whitney. I genuinely cannot wait until my babies have the opportunity to spend time with her again! Thank you again Whitney!!!”

About: I’ve loved animals of all kinds since I was a kid! For the last 8 years I have worked as a veterinary assistant working hands on with pets of all kinds including anxious pets, special needs pets, and geriatric pets. I’m comfortable giving medications or following specific directions for pets that need just a little more attention. I of course love pets of all ages whether that’s playing with young pets or giving older pets more accommodations. I’m currently working part-time at an animal clinic, so I’ll have plenty of time to care for your pet! I go for walks twice daily already and your pet would make a perfect addition! I live in an apartment with my 13 year old cat, Juliet. Juliet is a very sweet cat but will typically hide when other pets are boarded in the home. My apartment is located in the Volker neighborhood with parks and plenty of walking trails nearby. For in home boarding, pets are welcome on my furniture including the bed. I am happy to follow any and all requests for boarding / caretaking inside your home, including giving medications either orally or injectables.
“Rachel was great! She did all the objective things well - was on time, fed and medicated correctly, etc. She was also a clear and consistent communicator, she took great photos, and my dog liked her (he's quick to go on a hunger strike if he's stressed but he ate well with her). My cat full-time hides when there's a human who isn't me in our house, but Rachel sent detailed updates on what she was able to observe (e.g., food consumed, frequency of litter box use). After I left, I realized I had forgotten to put the compost in my freezer into the bucket, so I texted Rachel to ignore the instructions about putting the compost bucket at the curb - Rachel responded by asking if the bin in the freezer was what needed to go in the bucket and said she'd take care of it, which was a huge help. We had a pretty bad storm while Rachel was here and she gathered up the many sticks and branches that had fallen all over my yard. Totally above and beyond!”

“We were traveling for nearly two weeks and were understandably nervous about leaving our pets, but Jennifer was amazing and quickly put our minds at ease. She was responsive, communicative, and regularly sent photos and updates throughout our trip. What stood out most was that her daily updates included thoughtful observations about our pets' personalities and behavior, which made it clear she was spending quality time with them and getting to know them. It was so reassuring to know our senior dog and crazy cat were comfortable, happy, and well cared for while we were away. Jennifer also took great care of our home while we were gone, including watering our plants, which we really appreciated. We will absolutely be reaching out to Jennifer for our future pet-sitting needs, and highly recommend her to other anxious pet parents.”

“Erika is a dog whisperer! She navigated my youthful pup and senior dog with such care and attention. I felt so confident being able to hike and explore while my two dogs were well cared for. Erika provided great communication on arrival and departure, and I loved the pup picture updates. Very responsible and trustworthy too. Overall I highly recommend Erika for overnight dog visits. A+ experience.”
“Amina was great with our two cats for the weekend. We just added our kitten Boots to the family so we were nervous leaving for a quick weekend trip. Amina was understanding about the introduction process between the two cats that we were going through and made sure everyone was well taken care of and happy.”

“Mirette was great at communicating how the dogs were doing while we were away. She followed all our requests and pups were well cared for. She sent pics during the time to keep us posted how they were doing too. We would recommend her and will have her back.”

About: Hi, I’m Chris! Dogs have always been a huge part of my life—I’ve spent 30+ years caring for pets for friends and family and I volunteer at a local shelter as a dog walker. I work from home and now have the flexibility to spend more time doing what I love: keeping good dogs (and cats) company. Your dog will get plenty of attention, care, and a walk they’ll look forward to. With a work-from-home schedule, I’m able to offer flexible, attentive care for your pup. We regularly walk around Loose Park and the Plaza and would love to include your dog. When visiting your home, I make sure each walk is tailored to your neighborhood and your dog’s routine. I provide a safe, structured, and attentive environment tailored to each dog’s needs. I take the time to understand your pet’s routine—feeding, exercise, and any specific preferences—so they feel comfortable and cared for from the start. In your home, I’m respectful and detail-oriented, ensuring doors, gates, and leashes are handled carefully at all times. Walks are attentive and controlled, with a focus on safety, awareness, and your dog’s comfort level. With my background in shelter volunteering, I’m experienced with a range of temperaments and prioritize calm, positive interactions. I also provide regular updates, so you can feel confident your dog is in good hands while you’re away.

Charlett was absolutely wonderful with my dog! She gave me so much peace of mind while I was away by sending regular updates, photos, and videos, and it was clear Poppy was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. Charlett was reliable, communicative, and genuinely attentive to Poppy’s needs. When I picked her up, she was relaxed, happy, and had clearly been treated like part of the family. It’s obvious Charlotte truly loves animals, and that comes through in the level of care she provides. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Charlotte again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable dog sitter!

Kayma did a wonderful job of looking after my home and my cat! She kept me updated daily with photos, assisted with an untimely inspection that needed to be done while I was away, and I came home to a clean, tidy space, fresh sheets on the bed, and a very happy cat - he acted like I hadn’t even left him! I would absolutely recommend her if you want someone who will look after your home and pets as you would!

I really appreciated Evelyn's flexibility with this booking. The nature of this trip meant that my exact return time was a moving target, and Evie was communicative, adaptive, and helpful in making sure there was no interruption in Pippa's care, which was a huge aid to me in a time of stress.

This is the second time we've booked Hillary to stay at our house and care for our pets while we were on a weeklong vacation. It won't be the last. We feel completely comfortable with her in our home and our pets love her! Hillary also takes good care of the house while we are gone. I 100% recommend her services.

Lily watched our dog for 5 days, and we were anxious to leave him, but she did a great job! She was very communicative and responsive, and she sent picture updates to show us how he was doing. We came home to a very happy dog and a clean house. I highly recommend Lily and will absolutely have her back to watch our dog!

Always a 5 star experience with Amina! It is such a treat for Chambo and peace of mind for us to have Amina taking care of things. We were able to have a little adventure out of town, and out of cell service, knowing Amina had it covered. And we returned home knowing Chambo was taken care of and all we had to do was cuddle our bubbs. Thank you again, Amina!

Maryn was so great, our dog had so much fun with her and got so much love, attention, exercise, and play time! She sent so many pictures which put us at ease and allowed us to enjoy our trip knowing our dog was taken care of. Would definitely use Maryn again and definitely recommend her!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Roeland Park on Rover is $29.96 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,745 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Roeland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Roeland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Roeland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Roeland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
