“Lucas took great care of my two elderly cats. When we got back from our week away they were healthy and happy. Lucas even noticed that Cindy was scratching our couch and covered it with a blanket.”

“Haley was great, and really eased our mind leaving our special needs older kitty in her hands. She was prompt to respond, sent great updates on every visit, and accommodated all the special requests we had to take care of Luna. And even though she barely saw Ellie I know she was also in good hands (Ellie is our hider). I wouldn't hesitate to book Haley again if we are away and need care for our kitties. We did a meet and greet first and that was very helpful to walk Haley through our needs, let her meet the kitties, and let us get to know her a little. Thanks Haley for caring for our girls!”

“Breanna was wonderful with our cats while we were away on vacation! She came in for daily drops ins to feed them, scoop litter, and play with them. She sent detailed updates and high quality pictures every day that we looked forward to seeing. I felt really safe leaving our cats and home in her care and would absolutely recommend her to anyone. In addition to taking great care of the cats she brought in mail/packages and took out the garbage. She also vacuumed up their litter room without me having to ask. There’s nothing better than coming home from vacation to a clean house and happy kitties. Thank you Bre!!!”

“Clareese did an awesome job with our Anni. She let me know when she was there and took lots of pictures and even a video while taking care of Anni. We would definitely use her again in the future.”
“Savannah and Silas were great with our two dachshunds! They even took extra time to help the dogs feel more at ease with them. They were also very quick to respond and provide updates. Definitely recommend!”

“I don’t think there are enough words to do justice for the amount of appreciation I have for Erin. Erin not only took this booking the day before I needed her due to a last minute cancel by another rover user, she also extended the time we needed her for due to medical emergencies. She went over and beyond for our dogs, especially considering she had to keep them separate the entire time and one of the dogs is not potty trained yet. She even washed the rags we provided her to be able to clean the puppies cage when she went to the bathroom! I think it goes without saying that Erin is an extremely reliable dog sitter, our dogs were very happy when we got home and appear to be kept for very well. She sent us a lot of photos and videos which our son looked forward to seeing everyday, and she kept us up to date on how the dogs were doing! I would highly recommend Erin as a dog sitter, you can tell she really loves animals!”

“Heather did a great job checking in on my cat. My cat is very timid but even over the 3 days Heather was able to make progress towards getting my cat to be more sociable.”

“I highly recommend Jessica as a cat sitter! Jess took excellent care of my two special needs cats, Wasabi and Mason, over the Christmas weekend. Wasabi is diabetic and requires insulin injections twice per day, and Jess administered the injections with precision and care. Mason has asthma and chronic upper respiratory infections, and they are each on a special diet. Jess made sure to follow all instructions to keep them both comfortable and well. Not only was Jessica reliable and responsible, but she also showed genuine affection for Wasabi and Mason. She took the time for them to feel comfortable with her and make sure they were happy, and she provided regular updates on their well-being while I was away. I have complete trust in Jessica and would not hesitate to use her again in the future. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a responsible and caring cat sitter.”

“Tracie has watched my pets a handful of times and always does a fantastic job. This time, she was watching them during a huge snowstorm and went above and beyond to make sure my dog and cats were safe and well cared for....even walking to my house in terrible weather and extending her booking when my flight was delayed by two days. I would not hesitate to recommend Tracie. She is very dependable and professional and flexible...and the pets love her (even the one shy cat is starting to come around...)”

“We loved working with Meghan! We have a very large, very anxious and moody dog and another very high energy independent pup--they are NOT an easy pair to care for. Meghan did a meet and greet and she had both of them following her around and listening to her every command. We felt so much relief knowing she was taking good care of our babies, she sent updates, photos and video to document her stay. We will definitely ask her back!”

“Any took great care of our three little kitties. She sent photos every day, and I could tell that the cats really loved her. We recommend Amy, and we will call on her again!”

About: I love dogs and grew up with them! Though I don't have the space for them now, I've been missing some puppy playtime! Both of my parents are vets as well, so I'm also pretty well versed in all things pet care! I do work full-time, but a lot of my job can be done from home depending on the amount of notice I have before discussing that with my boss. That being said my weekends are pretty open as well as the occasional monday. I typically work from home every other monday! I love all animals! Growing up I had 2 dogs and then foster failed 2 cats! Those 2 cats currently live with my parents, but I'm bringing them up here when I move into my own place. Both of my roommates also have cats!

About: Animals have been part of my life since day one. I grew up with dogs and cats of all personalities! I currently share my home with Kisses, my calico, and Teddy, my German Shorthaired Pointer — one of the highest-energy breeds out there — so if your dog goes a mile a minute, I'm more than ready for it!! Over the years I've dog sat for all sizes and breeds — from tiny lap dogs to large, boisterous pups — and I treat every single one like they're my own. Your pet will be loved, played with, and completely spoiled. My home has a fully fenced backyard with plenty of room to run, zoom, and explore that's perfect for dogs who need to burn off some energy. I'm also comfortable administering medication, so pets with special health needs are absolutely welcome. Your baby will get the same attentive care at my place that they get at home. Whether your pet needs a calm, cozy stay or a high-energy playmate, I've got them covered. I can't wait to meet your furry family member! I work remotely with a very flexible schedule, which means pet care is never an afterthought. It's woven into my whole day. I'm home the majority of the week, and on the rare occasion I do step out, I'm never gone for more than 3 hours. Your pet will always have someone present, attentive, and ready to play, cuddle, or just keep them company. No long stretches alone, ever. My home is set up thoughtfully for both dogs and cats. The layout is split-level, with cats having full run of the upstairs and dogs enjoying the main floor plus access to the fully fenced backyard — plenty of space to play, explore, and burn energy safely. The two never have to share space unless everyone is comfortable. I do have a resident calico and a German Shorthaired Pointer, both of whom are friendly and social, so I do ask that visiting pets are comfortable around other animals of their kind. I always offer a free meet-and-greet before booking so we can make sure everyone — pets and people — feels good about the stay before any commitment is made. My home is puppy-proofed and high-energy-dog-ready, and I have 24/7 SimpliSafe security monitoring for added peace of mind. You can expect regular photos and updates throughout every stay because you shouldn't have to wonder how your pet is doing. When caring for pets in your home, I follow your instructions exactly. Your routines, your rules — meal times, crate preferences, favorite toys, walking routes — I stick to all of it. I respect your home as if it were my own, always clean up after your dog outside, and scoop litter boxes daily. Your pet's comfort and your peace of mind are the whole point.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Rankin
Lucas was excellent with all of our animals! Not only did he care for everyone expertly but he left the sink and pet dishes clean and orderly (not expected but very much appreciated!). He also handled medication for our elderly cat, which is a sigh of relief for when we go on weekend adventures and short trips (something we used to not be able to do before finding helpers such as Lucas :) ).

Savannah was wonderful with Ziggy! She took time with him each visit for play and cuddles and kept me updated with lots of photos and messages. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for kitty. I would absolutely book Savannah again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful, reliable pet sitter!

We felt completely secure leaving our Mona cat in the care of Rose. Rose administered her med, interacted with Mona on Mona’s terms, and even went above & beyond and watered our plants. We came home to a happy cat and clean environment. Communication was great while we were away.

Claire is super caring & efficient. My one cat, Moe, is usually a super shy dude but he velcroed onto Claire instantly. She sent photo updates from every visit & gave all my babies love while I was gone. I will definitely be booking with her again, great experience!

Breanna was wonderful with our cats while we were away on vacation! Thank you Bre!!!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rankin. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
