I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter. From the very first moment, it was clear that Ella truly understands cats—not just their routines, but their emotions, boundaries, and quiet language. My cats felt safe and genuinely cared for, which says everything. Ella has what I can only describe as soul cat energy: patient, intuitive, and deeply kind. She went above and beyond, not just making sure everything was done, but making sure my cats felt loved. Ella is a true star and a rare find.

About: My family adopted a puppy when I was nine, and we named her Sora—“sky” in Japanese. From that moment on, I fell in love with caring for her: watching her grow, teaching her tricks, and napping beside her. She crossed the rainbow bridge seven years ago, but I still think of her often. Whenever I think of her, I feel the same warmth as when we used to lie in the sun together. Since 2018, I’ve also cared for two medium-sized sibling dogs. I loved getting to know their personalities and spending time with them. Now, I share my home with two cats. Even after the longest, hardest days, they make everything feel okay the moment they greet me at the door—usually with a sleepy yawn 😄 As you can tell, I’ve always loved dogs. I never imagined I’d become a “cat person,” but now I think I’m happily both. I love my angel Sora, those two dogs, and my two cats so deeply—and I truly believe every pet deserves endless love and the very best care. I have a full-time job in the Princeton area and typically finish at 4:30 PM. I’d be happy to walk your dogs or spend time with your cats anytime after work. I’m also available most weekends. In addition, I usually have extended breaks throughout the year. My summer break typically runs from mid-May through the end of August, and my winter break is usually from mid-December to mid-January. During those times, I have much more flexibility. Feel free to reach out anytime to check my availability! I will always respect your home and your privacy, and most importantly, I’ll take the very best care of your pets. While you’re away, I’m happy to stay in touch—whether by text or call—with updates, photos, or videos. I understand how much you’ll miss them and how reassuring it is to know they’re doing well.

About: My weekends are spent caring for animals at a local animal sanctuary. I tend to dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels. I spent my entire life having pets in the house and I am very comfortable giving them the love and attention they deserve while their family is away. I am a college student with frequent free time to take on pet sitting, walking, or visits. My classes are once a day, usually just for a few hours. I am available to take care of your pet while you're at work, school, or just out having fun! My most recent pet experience was caring for animals at St. Bonnies Animal Sanctuary. I am very used to working with all types of dogs and taking them on frequent walks. Pet sitting and house sitting have been an ongoing job for me with friends and family for many years now, but I'm looking to offer my assistance to a larger group of people. My current dog is a rescue, so I am used to working with animals who need some time to adjust to a new face.

About: I’ve taken care of my own dog for years and have helped care for senior pets, as well as friends’ and family’s dogs and cats. I make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved. Dogs are my absolute favorite. I’m a college student at Rutgers and currently on a long break, so I’m around for most of it and have a very flexible schedule. This allows me to give pets plenty of attention, care, and time throughout the day. I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment. At home, I care for my own 5-year-old Cockapoo who is shy, so I’m very attentive to each pet’s comfort level and needs. I keep a clean, safe space and can crate dogs if needed to make sure everyone feels secure.

About: I have two cats of my own who I have taken care of for 4 years! Along with that I frequently walk and dog sit for neighbors who go on vacation! I also volunteer at the nearby animal shelter! I currently only work a part time job some days a week leaving me plenty of time! My work schedule is flexible in case of any emergencies as well! I don’t mind early morning visits or late ones! About: I have returned to school to earn my PhD as an adult in my 30s, which means I have both many years of experience with animals and significant flexibility to help out as your schedule requires. I have spent my whole life around animals - I grew up in a house with two cats, a dog (chow chow), and a multitude of fish; I worked for a stint on a farm as a teenager; and as an adult I have two sweet cats! I have been pet sitting for family and friends since I was young, most recently caring for a variety of cats and dogs for friends during work travel, vacations, and weddings. I have experience with cats of all life stages, giving medications, and walking both small and large dogs. I am a PhD student, which means that my schedule is very flexible! (It also means I always welcome study breaks to hang out with your furry friends!) I am available mornings, afternoons, and evenings, including during weekdays and normal business hours. Because I have two cats of my own, I am not able to offer services in my own home at this time. I offer in-home care and dog walking, and am happy to learn from you where your dog most likes to go for walks! I do have a car, and am able to transport pets to walking trails or dog parks if desired, but would only do so with your prior permission.

About: I'm a very caring animal lover and have been house and dog sitting for years. I've had my dog since she was a puppy so I have the experience to care for dogs of all ages. My dog is extremely active so I dont have any problem keeping up with pets of any activity level. I've been to training with my dog and am able to use the skills I've learned with my dog to any pet. I've dog sat for multiple dogs at once with different health issues and dietary restrictions. I'm very meticulous when it comes to your pet's health including medication regimens and special dietary needs. I treat all animals as if they were my own. My main goal while caring for your pet is to keep your pet safe, happy and healthy. I work Mon-Fri 9-5pm so I only pet sit on the weekends to ensure your furry baby gets all the walks, playtime and attention they deserve. My goal is to provide your pet with the same enviroment they would recieve at home. We are away from main roads and have access to a fenced dog park.

The average cost for Pet Sitting in Princeton on Rover is $24.61 per visit (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Pet Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Pet Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 5,150 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Princeton. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Princeton stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Princeton. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
