“Willy loved Having Donna come to take care of him! He was well cared for and I appreciated the daily photos and communication . Meds administered with no issues . Really kind and trustworthy to come into my home daily. Will definitely request Donna for future pet sitting needs ! Thanks so much”

“Ebony is a lifesaver!!! Took care of our four pets for 3 days super super last minute — she is super communicative, sends pictures often, and took our dogs on a walk daily. I have a kitten and she took special care of him. Took extra time to make sure each pet felt comfy with her. She’s our go-to sitter now!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs at different life stages, including raising a dog from puppyhood and providing dedicated care for a senior rescue. I also have experience administering medication, including for dogs with congestive heart failure. I’m attentive to routines, behavior changes, and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and safety in pet care. I work part-time and am available for pet care on weekdays after 1 PM and on weekends. I plan my schedule to provide consistent attention, including walks, feeding, and medication routines. I’m reliable with timing and make sure each dog’s routine is followed closely. I provide a calm, structured home environment that works well for gentle, low-energy, or senior dogs. I have two young children who are taught to respect dogs’ space, so I only accept dogs that are comfortable around kids and have a calm temperament. While my yard is not fenced, all outdoor time is supervised and dogs are kept safely leashed. I do not have other pets, allowing me to give your dog focused, one-on-one attention. I follow routines closely, including medications, feeding schedules, and any special care instructions. I require a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit for everyone’s safety and comfort.
“Kayla is the best! She’s wonderful with our gang, and especially our dog, and her communication skills are top-notch. We know our kiddoes are in great hands when Kayla comes to visit 😉!”

“So thrilled to have someone so reliable to swing by to let Penelope out a few times while we were gone for an extended sports tournament. Loved the detailed updates and photos. Will definitely use her again!”

“Timothy was a great sitter for our elderly cat. He was patient, kind and easily administered medication for our fur guy. We absolutely will hire Timothy again when we’re out of town and know our cat Stoopy would be in good hands.”

“Needed someone for a last-minute drop in for the next day and Margaret willingly accepted. She was timely and send photos while there. Will definitely contact her again.”

About: I've been taking care of cats and other small animals since before I could walk. In addition to cats (up to 4 at a time), I have owned hedgehogs, hamsters, gerbils, and frogs. I am comfortable with all rodents and reptiles. Although I've never personally owned a dog, I have been dog sitting for friends, family, and neighbors since High School, and love taking dogs for hikes/walks. If your dog has a lot of energy and wants to get outdoors, we'll be a great match. Also, my dad keeps bees, so if that happens to be relevant, I do have limited experience in that arena - though I would need a bit of a refresher. I currently work full time, but I have a relatively flexible schedule and the ability to work from home 1-2 days per week. I am an early bird so have no problem waking up before dawn for walks/care as needed. I would follow your guidelines and rules. The pet is yours and therefore I would always honor and respect your house rules, the animal's needs, and anything else agreed to when discussing the pet sitting opportunity. Therefore, how I would care for a pet is 100% dependent on the individual circumstance.
“We're always very happy when Mary Jane takes care of Grace. We have used her several times now and Gracie has completely warmed up to her and looks forward to her visits. As always we have no worries when Mary Jane comes to visit and will continue to book her for any future trips.”

About: I grew up with dogs and other small pets (cats, rabbits, chickens, mice, parakeets, fish, and more). That being said I am comfortable and prepared to take care of much more than dogs and cats. I’ve been responsible to provide food, water, and enrichment to my own pets as well at those of friends and family. I am a full time college student even over the summer but besides that I have a lot of free time. During those times i’d love to spend time caring for your pet or pets! I believe I can adapt well and pick up on the cues of a pet to keep them happy and healthy while according to the owners requests on care.
About: I grew up around animals, from birds and hermit crabs to cats and dogs, my household has always been filled with pets. I have also fostered medically fragile dogs and volunteered at the Westchester Humane Society. I am passionate about ensuring all animals receive the best possible care and I will give your pet the same love I give my own. I currently work part time and I’m a full time grad student, but I have my own transportation so my schedule is open and flexible. I will schedule a meet and greet with you and your pet to learn all about their unique quirks, likes, dislikes, and routines prior to beginning services with them. I ensure a safe environment by using non-retractable leashes on walks and will send you updates while I am with your pet. Your pet's safety is my top priority.

About: I’ve been a dog lover all my life , currently have five little dogs of my own so when your dog visits he will always have playmates I currently work from home so availability won’t be a problem , my wife also works from home as well, your pets will always be supervised My yard is fully fenced in an of course there will be several playmates to accompany them on there outdoor excursions, I have crates available
“Amelia was warm and kind and listened to all the directions I gave her (helicopter cat-mom here). She sent lots of pictures and updates about how everyone was doing after every visit. Just the best!”

“My wife and I cannot say enough good things about Sam! Great visits, played with our one unruly and terrifically needy orange, and treated them all (we have four cats altogether) like they were their own! Thank you, Sam for doing such a wonderful job!”

“Amruta is amazing! From the meet and greet I knew she would be a good fit for us. Tux was drawn to her immediately and is always so excited when she walks through the door. I have a very specific feeding routine for tux and amruta is diligent about following it. I am so happy to have found Amruta because I am now at ease when I go to work, knowing she dropping in to care for Tux. I cannot recommend her enough!”

“Aliza is a warm and friendly sitter who was able to look after our two kitties on relatively short notice. She had some great ideas for how to handle feeding time based on their personalities and food-related behavior. She was also easy to work with. Will hire again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Pleasant Valley
This is the first time I have ever used Rover, and to be honest, I was a bit apprehensive as I didn’t know what to expect. Luckily, I found Donna and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I really appreciated how she took the time to meet and greet myself and my dog before accepting the booking. It was comforting to know she wanted to interact with my dog and make sure it was a good fit for everyone before immediately saying yes. Definitely helped to make me feel comfortable and confident leaving my fur babies in the care of someone genuine. We had to extend our booking twice and she was flexible and accommodating. Donna was attentive, punctual, and really went above and beyond to make sure my fur babies were cared for, safe, happy, and healthy. I like how she was communicative throughout the booking, spent time playing outside with my dog, and sending me the BEST action shots!! I swear my dog is gonna be disappointed that we are back home. I will definitely be booking again! Thank you, Donna!! You’re the best! 100/10 recommend

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
