“Samantha was attentive to our cat’s needs and was incredibly reliable! We got snowed in our trip away, and Samantha was able to add extra visits to come take care of our cat while we were trapped in the snow. I highly recommend Samantha, and will likely contact her again the next time we need a pet sitter!”

“Donna took great care of my kitties! She kept me updated while I was away, especially relieving my concerns that my littlest one wouldn’t eat. She was prompt and made sure they got their treats - thanks Donna!”
“Kayla was absolutely wonderful! Her communication was fabulous. The daily pictures made myself and my family so happy. She’s reliable and so nice. She even went out of her way to take our trash cans down when she noticed it was trash day in the neighborhood. I felt completely at ease with her taking care of our babies. Thank you so much!”

“Danielle was great. I booked last minute when my regular sitter was unavailable and she was able to come over for a quick meet and greet the night before we left. She was prompt with her visits and took great care of my pets.”
“So grateful we found Stefanie! Super sweet, communicative, and thoughtful. Our very shy cats came out for her which is rare for them with people they don’t know. Will definitely book again :)”

“We're always very happy when Mary Jane takes care of Grace. We have used her several times now and Gracie has completely warmed up to her and looks forward to her visits. As always we have no worries when Mary Jane comes to visit and will continue to book her for any future trips.”

About: I've been taking care of cats and other small animals since before I could walk. In addition to cats (up to 4 at a time), I have owned hedgehogs, hamsters, gerbils, and frogs. I am comfortable with all rodents and reptiles. Although I've never personally owned a dog, I have been dog sitting for friends, family, and neighbors since High School, and love taking dogs for hikes/walks. If you're dog has a lot of energy and wants to get outdoors, we'll be a great match. Also, my dad keeps bees, so if that happens to be relevant, I do have limited experience in that arena - though I would need a bit of a refresher. I currently work full time, but I have a relatively flexible schedule and the ability to work from home 1-2 days per week. I am an early bird so have no problem waking up before dawn for walks/care as needed. I would follow your guidelines and rules. The pet is yours and therefore I would always honor and respect your house rules, the animal's needs, and anything else agreed to when discussing the pet sitting opportunity. Therefore, how I would care for a pet is 100% dependent on the individual circumstance. That being said, I'll be sad if you have a dog that doesn't like walks or a cat that doesn't like people (aka being pet by me)
About: I’ve grown up with dogs since I was about 10 years old. I currently volunteer at our local animal shelter and have a dog of my own I rescued in college. I also rescued a cat when I was a bit younger and working in the foster system with cats. I genuinely love pets so much and have experience with older pets, administering medication, puppies, and even aggressive dogs. I’m currently working full-time for the leasing office at the property I live at. I love my job because my own furry companion comes to work with me everyday. I have completely free time on weekends to care for your furry friends and am free most weekday afternoons and can make windows of time throughout the week. My dog and I live in an apartment building and he was crate trained when he was a puppy. I would walk your dog using whatever harness/leash you prefer making sure their paws are safe and are well taken care of. I can give them enrichment time from doing training, playing with toys, or running around outside if there is a place they can do so safely.
About: I’ve had animals my whole life growing up and currently have my own pets now. I’ve worked in an animal hospital as a Vet tech assistant/kennel manager for a few years. I then after that worked for my local shelter for about 10 years as a kennel worker and I was head of our dog behavioral team. I know how to read dog body language, and give meds if need be. I am a balance dog trainer that makes her own schedule, I work around my pet setting schedule! I'm currently a dog trainer and make my own schedule, I can provide pet sitting when ever needed because I can make my schedule around when I need to pet sit! I would treat my client’s pets like they were one of my own pets. I would do what ever I can to make your animals feel comfortable while you are gone.
“Aliza is a warm and friendly sitter who was able to look after our two kitties on relatively short notice. She had some great ideas for how to handle feeding time based on their personalities and food-related behavior. She was also easy to work with. Will hire again!”

About: I have experience taking care of dogs and cats for families and friends, I know how to read body language and know when I've crossed boundaries. I always have patience for animals. I'm working part time so I have a lot of time available to work with pets, check in on them, and stay with them if needed. I am totally available for overnights, I'm a night owl so I can always check in with a pet and take care of them.
About: I’ve cared for dogs at different life stages, including raising a dog from puppyhood and providing dedicated care for a senior rescue. I also have experience administering medication, including for dogs with congestive heart failure. I’m attentive to routines, behavior changes, and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and safety in pet care. I work part-time and am available for pet care on weekdays after 1 PM and on weekends. I plan my schedule to provide consistent attention, including walks, feeding, and medication routines. I’m reliable with timing and make sure each dog’s routine is followed closely. I provide a calm, structured home environment that works well for gentle, low-energy, or senior dogs. I have two young children who are taught to respect dogs’ space, so I only accept dogs that are comfortable around kids and have a calm temperament. While my yard is not fenced, all outdoor time is supervised and dogs are kept safely leashed. I do not have other pets, allowing me to give your dog focused, one-on-one attention. I follow routines closely, including medications, feeding schedules, and any special care instructions. I require a meet-and-greet to ensure a good fit for everyone’s safety and comfort.
“Amruta is amazing! From the meet and greet I knew she would be a good fit for us. Tux was drawn to her immediately and is always so excited when she walks through the door. I have a very specific feeding routine for tux and amruta is diligent about following it. I am so happy to have found Amruta because I am now at ease when I go to work, knowing she dropping in to care for Tux. I cannot recommend her enough!”

“He did pretty good!! He cleaned the cat box ,feed the cat and gave her the medicine on time He even clean the cat plates and chance the water. Even took out the trash with out me asking.”

About: I grew up with dogs and other small pets (cats, rabbits, chickens, mice, parakeets, fish, and more). That being said I am comfortable and prepared to take care of much more than dogs and cats. I’ve been responsible to provide food, water, and enrichment to my own pets as well at those of friends and family. I am a full time college student even over the summer but besides that I have a lot of free time. During those times i’d love to spend time caring for your pet or pets! I believe I can adapt well and pick up on the cues of a pet to keep them happy and healthy while according to the owners requests on care.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Pleasant Valley. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
