“Autumn did fantastic staying in my home with my dog and cat! She was on time, checked in with me, sent lots of pics, and was very responsive the entire time. I felt comfortable with her taking care of my house and pets. My cat got her medication as needed and my dog got plenty of walks and attention. I booked her again shortly after the first stay. Highly recommend Autumn to take care of your babies!”

“Michael was so amazing with our dog & cat. He sent us lots of pictures of our fur babies while we were away, took our dog on walks, for car rides & administered her daily medication. Michael was so flexible & understanding of my obsessive dog mom requests. We are so grateful to have had his help & will absolutely be having him sit for us again!”

“Natalie was AWESOME with Grey! She came to meet him a few times, before she stayed with him, to insure he was comfortable with her. She was very good with Grey. She played with him more than we do, I am sure. She sent us pictures and videos multiple times a day. She contacted me if something arose that I had not mentioned or explained about his idiosyncrasies. He loves her, and so do we. We were concerned that he would want to go with her, when she left / went home from the stay!! That is how much she did for him.”

“Heather took great care of my 2 fur babies. I was able to enjoy my first family vacation in years because she made me so comfortable with the care she gave them. She sent pictures everyday and kept me updated in all of their activities. She will be my Rover go to for future trips.”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember! I’ve also had the privilege of working at a doggy daycare/boarding business for several summers, where I absolutely loved caring for clients’ pets. I’ve worked with dogs of all ages—from playful puppies to sweet senior pups. If you have concerns about a senior dog, don’t worry—I’m very comfortable following specific schedules, administering routines, and making sure they feel safe and cared for. I treat every pet like they’re my own, with patience, love, and attention to their unique needs. Whether your dog needs lots of playtime or a calm, gentle companion, I’m happy to provide a safe and comfortable experience while you’re away. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel at ease knowing your pet is in good hands. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friend!!! I have a very flexible schedule and am available most days of the week. I’m typically available Monday through Friday at any time, and I can accommodate a variety of routines and needs. While I prefer weekdays, I may be able to help on weekends with advance notice I always prioritize your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine. In your home, I make sure to follow all instructions closely whether that’s feeding schedules, medication, walk routines, or any specific care your pet needs. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality so they feel safe and relaxed while you’re away. I keep a clean and secure environment, making sure doors, gates, and leashes are always properly handled. During walks, I stay alert and avoid unsafe situations to keep your pet protected.
“Val was absolutely amazing with my two dogs. She sent pictures throughout the day and took exceptional care of them. We will definitely be asking her back.”

“Sandra is INCREDIBLE. I am so incredibly happy we found her for our first trip away from our pets in 3 years. She came over prior and arrived early before we left for the airport to go over everything thoroughly. We have 3 dogs (one senior, one young and high energy, and one 12 week old puppy), 6 chickens (1 that needs oral medication twice a day), and 2 other birds. She sent me updates frequently and was very communicative. We have a Ring camera outside and it was clear that our dogs loved her by their wagging tails. We got photo and video updates as well. Cannot recommend her enough!”

“She was amazing, was able to book her last minute and she was very good with communication. She sent photos and videos while she was over watching our dog and even left a note! Would highly recommend and will definitely be using her again!”

“Tyler was wonderful with our 8 yr old chocolate lab, Lucy! He stayed with her for 2 full days while we attended our son's wedding. He communicated updates and included photos so we wouldn't worry how our baby was doing. We are so grateful to have found him ❤️”

I have my own dog (Chihuahua mix!!) that LOVES other dogs and will play until they both drop. When visiting your home, I will treat it like my own and respect any house rules.
“Jacen did a fantastic job!!! We booked for 6 separate nights for stay overs at our house and everything went smoothly. Jacen is flexible and even watered our plants and took down some trash while we were gone. The cats were well taken care of and the communication was excellent. Highly recommend Jacen!”

“Caitlin was amazing! She is the best sitter I got on Rover! She stayed hours making company to my cat Leia and I have no words to thank her for being so loving with her.”

“Gabrielle took great care of our cats and was in constant communication with us about how they were doing, including cleaning up a plant that one had knocked over. She also sent lots of pictures which was appreciated.”

About: I’ve always been a dog lover and both me and brother rescued Labrador early prior to the covid year. We love him so much and since I moved countries he now lives with my parents in India. I wear a paw on my necklace which is a memory that he is not far away and will always take care of my parents behind me. Zorro now sits on the dinner table and enjoys all family meals. As someone with medical training and a responsible active lifestyle, I am calm under pressure, highly dependable and attentive to routines, medications, special care needs and feeding schedule. Whether your pet is playful or prefer quiet companionship I’m happy to adapt to their personality and needs. Looking forward to meeting you and your furry family 🐾 I relocated to Pittsburgh from Boston for my medical training this year. I will be open to taking care of your pet as needed and happy to coordinate a schedule for walks/boarding at my house with you. My partner and I are trustworthy, active, and organized, and we genuinely care about making your dog feel safe and loved while you're away from home. 🐾 I live in an apartment with my spouse who has grown up all around dogs as pets since he was a kid so we both love dogs but don’t have one of our own currently. Your pet is allowed on our sofa and enjoy the area of a one bedroom. If I am at your home, I will aim to make your pet feel as comfortable and stress free as possible while the owner is way by keeping a normal routine in their own home environment. I will carefully follow your instructions and communication is very important to me, so I can provide regular updates , photos and check-in to help the owner feel reassured. As someone with a medical background I am very attentive to details and safety.

I'm currently in-between jobs, focusing on a passion project so I have plenty for time and flexibility to look after your pet's needs. I am not currently available to board in my home as my lease does not allow pets, but I'd gladly look after them in your home once we've established trust between us and your pets.
“This was our first booking with Kristin and she was fabulous! We were gone for 16 days and she took care of our two dogs like they were her own. They are still missing her! She left the house in perfect shape! She also kept our gardens watered and my houseplants thriving. We will definitely ask her to come back again and we highly recommend her to everyone!”

“This was our first time having Patrick watch our dogs and stay at our home, and we couldn’t be more impressed. From the start, Patrick proved to be reliable, responsible, and genuinely caring. He took great care of our dogs—not just covering the basics, but making sure they were comfortable, happy, and sticking to their normal routine. It gave us a lot of confidence knowing they were in such good hands. He also did an outstanding job taking care of our home. Everything was kept clean, organized, and exactly how we left it. It’s not easy trusting someone in your space for the first time, but Patrick made it completely stress-free. Communication was excellent throughout. We received regular updates and photos, which made it easy to relax while we were away. For a first experience, this couldn’t have gone any better. We highly recommend Patrick and will absolutely be using him again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Penn Hills
Diana was absolutely amazing. I was traveling out of state for a few days, so coming home to happy pets and a spotless house was such a gift. She took incredible care of my animals, kept me updated, and went far beyond what I ever expected. She even brought toys for my dachshund, Nellie, and thoughtful gifts for both me and my son. When I got home, she had done laundry, tidied up, and left everything looking wonderful. Most importantly, I had complete peace of mind knowing my pets were loved and cared for while I was away. Diana is kind, dependable, thoughtful, and truly goes above and beyond. I would book her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care.

Aubra was great with my fur babies and made the whole experience really easy and stress free. She kept me updated with messages and photos, asked thoughtful questions when needed, and was very communicative throughout the stay. My dog can take a little time to warm up, and she was really patient with her, which I appreciated. I felt totally at ease knowing they were in good hands. I’d definitely book Aubra again.

George took great care of our two dogs while we were out of town for the week of Christmas. He stayed at our house, sent frequent updates, and was super friendly, and it was clear the dogs really liked him and were well cared for the whole time. We had zero issues and would absolutely use George again.

Philip and Stephanie did a fantastic job taking care of Trixie and Thorne for me. It was so wonderful knowing my pets were in good hands while I was attending a celebration of life event for the loss of my girlfriend. Philip even took the cardboard boxes I had that needed to go to recycling for me. Great people for sure.

Brandon was excellent with our miniature dachshund, Clif. He had third degree burns recently and required a little extra care, and Brandon went above and beyond to make sure Clif bad his meds, got a walk in, and even put him in a clean suitical. I can't say enough kind things about how great he is. Thanks, Brandon!

Once again Virginia was a terrific sitter taking care of our dogs Willow and Roxy while we traveled over a long weekend. We have had her as our dog/house sitter for 7 years now. Our dogs love her and she does a super job caring for them and taking care of our house. We highly recommend her!

Gordon was outstanding! He took the time to get to know our dog very well, which gave us so much peace of mind. He went above and beyond—bringing in all our packages from the porch, putting out the trash on garbage day, and taking care of the little things without being asked. We’re so grateful for his care and attention to detail.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Penn Hills on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Penn Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Penn Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Penn Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Penn Hills. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
