“Cassie is amazing, this was my first time using this service in general, and I was a little nervous for my boys, but Cassie did a great job, she connected with both of them since the meeting day, and she kept updating us in every visit. Totally recommended her.”

“Stacy was fantastic! She had great communication during and in-between visits. We felt very comfortable leaving our fur babies in her hands while out of town. We will definitely reach out for future pet sitting needs. Thank you Stacy!”

“Jessica and Joshua are wonderful pet sitters! If I could give them 10 stars I would!! This is our first time using Rover and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They sent lots of updates and pictures, so I knew my fur babies were safe and sound. I highly recommend them as pet sitters.”

“Hailey was very patient and understanding with my dogs. They are a tough bunch so when I had to go out of town and leave them for a few days, I was worried about not being able to find the right fit. Hailey really took a weight off my shoulders.”

“Alyssa is the best! She took care of our 70 pound male GSP who has a lot of energy for 8 full days. We had great communication with Alyssa and she sent pictures during the time we were away. This was our first time using a sitter for that long of a time so we were somewhat worried but Alyssa made us feel very comfortable. We definitely recommend Alyssa and will use her services in the future. Thanks Alyssa!!!”

About: I currently live with 4 cats and 1 dog who all get along great. I have sat for several of my friends dogs and cats, for as long as two weeks. I’ve sat for elderly dogs, puppies, a blind dog, and a dog going through her heat cycle that require diaper changes and cleaning. Since moving to Texas (from Chicago) I have done research to better understand when a dog is overheating and when it is safe to go for walks. My dog is big so this is very important for her. I mostly work mid-day shifts other than Wednesdays when I work open my place of work at 4:45am. Other than that day I can walk in the morning or at night. I provide many hiding and resting places for the cats and we have several beds for our big dogs to rest on inside and outside. We keep all cleaning products up high where animals can’t reach them. And because of our high fenced backyard, we give the aniamls a lot of freedom to come in and out (just to the backyard though)
“Madison did an amazing job with my hot Shadow. He can be difficult and anxious with new people but he took to Madison very well. I will be watching sing her again for my pup .”

“Vincent took amazing care of Bentley! I needed someone to stop by to let my puppy out and he had so much fun with Vincent! If you need someone to watch your dog Vincent is the perfect guy!”

“Tiffany was amazing and made us feel extremely comfortable from our first meeting to trust her with our puppy. She also went above and beyond putting on puppy tv daily and turning on and off the lights. She was also a peach taking care of our house”

“Chelsie was amazing! She was able to care for our cats without any issues and even reached out to see if there was more she could do for our girls since the tasks were fairly quick. We will be booking her again!”

About: I’ve always owned and cared for animals, including dogs, cats, and smaller pets. I currently work as a dog bather and am training to become a professional dog groomer, giving me hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. In addition to my grooming experience, I have worked with dog walking and understand the importance of providing safe, reliable, and compassionate care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I will treat every pet as if they were my own and do my absolute best to ensure they feel loved, secure, and well cared for while they’re with me. I currently work as a dog bather and typically finish my shift at 4:00 PM. Because of this, I’m available for afternoon, evening, and nighttime drop-in visits on weekdays. I’ll always communicate my arrival time and make sure your dog receives plenty of attention, exercise, potty breaks, and care during each visitOn my days off and weekends, I have more flexible availability and can accommodate morning, afternoon, and evening visits whenever possible. I believe pets are happiest and most comfortable in their own home, where they can stay in a familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. I’ll follow your instructions carefully, keep your home clean and respected, and provide regular updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. Whether it’s feeding, walks, playtime, administering basic care, or simply keeping your pet company, I’ll treat them with the same love, patience, and attention I would give my own pets.Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priority.
“Ximena was absolutely amazing with my dogs! I was on vacation and felt totally at peace knowing they were in such great hands. She went above and beyond by sending me pictures every single day, which truly made my trip stress-free. It was so clear that my dogs were happy, loved, and very well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to ask her to take care of my dogs again and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional pet sitter!”

About: I have had cats since childhood and dogs in my adult years. My cats name and dog have lived peacefully together for the last ten years. Unfortunately, my senior dog passed away earlier this year. There are no dogs in my home at this time. I am home for most of the day. I am there to cuddle and walk or let out for potty breaks. I can also do drop ins for cats. I have a fenced in yard for safety and protection of your pets. I do have a cat that is mostly in the main bedroom each day.
About: I’ve always had cats and dogs (and 9 other species) in my home, and I truly love all the fur babies in the whole wide world! Your pets are family, and I treat them that way. I’m attentive, organized, and detail-oriented (from my teaching background). I will provide expert, dependable care so your pets feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home. I’m comfortable following detailed care instructions, giving meds, and helping pets who have special needs. I’m also big on communication (and sending pictures) so you have peace of mind while you’re away. My home is fun, loving, and full of attention. I’ll make sure your pets get plenty of affection, playtime, and care. I can’t wait to meet your fur babies! My wife is a teacher so she is always home during the evenings and weekends. I work from home and enjoy having the extra company around the house. I have a fenced back yard and a big playful bernadoodle that loves to have friends over. (My dog can be relocated if your animals do not get along with others.) We live around a lake with plenty of great walking trails and big fenced in properties, lots of places to get good fresh air around us. Typically I take my dog somewhere to play of walk in the mornings, relax and get some work done until the afternoon, then try to get another walk in. We have lots of toys to play with and do lick mats and scent training games if weather is yucky.
About: I have had dogs nearly my entire life. And a variety of other pets sporadically, like fish, hamsters guinnea pigs and others. I have also been blessed to have been a rescue foster and the reward of helping heal thier emotional and physical health and finding their Furever homes. I understand pets are family. I work a hybrid schedule so most availability is evenings and weekends. If you are super close by, I may be able to dropins during the week days. I am comfortable with all sizes ( we have 3 dogs 50-120 lbs) and do respect your training protocols. I always check the fences and gates before letting them out in the yard.
“isabel was so kind and patient with my dogs, especially my reactive chihuahua. she’s also very trustworthy and flexible to work with. i will continue to book her as long as she’s available! thank you.”

“Brianna could not have been better with sitting for Alley. I was completely convinced that she would hide from Brianna as she does with everybody, but Brianna was able to get her to come out and play and it really gave me tons of peace of mind while I was away. I highly recommend her!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
