About: Hi there! I'm new to Rover, but have been housesitting regularly since December 2024. I've had the opportunity to pet sit in Australia and throughout New Zealand with dogs and cats of various breeds and ages. I have also looked after fish and chickens. My experience ranges from caring for young puppies and kittens to older animals with health issues, including pets with arthritis, heart issues, IBD, and asmtha. I'm very diligent about managing any medication or supplements required. In the past, I've had two dogs as my own pets. One was a miniature schnauzer and the other was a mixed breed rescue. Throughout the years, I've pet sat for friends and family as well. I always love getting to know new animals and enjoy taking care of a home and any plants you may have. :) I work remotely and have a fairly flexible schedule, so I will have plenty of time to stay in with your pets and make sure they are cared for and happy. *Currently, I am fully booked for housesitting until the beginning of February. If you are interested in booking for your 2027 travel, feel free to send me a message to schedule a meet and greet. I do also offer dog walking or drop-in visits for other clients from about noon to 2 pm, so this would be a time that I may be away from the house. To ensure a good fit, I offer a 30 minute Meet & Greet prior to booking. All bookings include frequent updates and photos for your peace of mind. I am happy to have your fur babies as my close companions or give them more space if they prefer. My goal is make sure they are safe and comfortable while their family is away.

Over the course of our absence Athena wooed her day by day until, finally, near the very end, Luna *almost* allowed Athena to touch her. We consider that a win. Athena's communications were regular and informative. She took great care of Luna and left the apartment in stellar condition. (One observation I might make: Luna is now complaining to us that Athena let her watch a whole lot more TV featuring birds and squirrels than we're letting her have. Kids!) About: I’ve grown up with cats and dogs all my life, and currently care for my two kitties, Monty and Piper. I’ve volunteered at the Oregon Humane Society in the past as a dog walker, and love taking care of my friends pets when they go out of town. I’m very responsible and good at following directions. Happy to care for your plants as well while you’re away! Can’t wait to meet your furry friends :) I’m currently working part-time, so my days are pretty flexible when caring for your pets! “I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I rarely go on trips together. We have three dogs, they are all different ages with different care levels, and finding someone to care for them has always been challenging. Our family planned to go on an Alaskan cruise, and we decided to join them. We reached out to Karen and she was SO responsive. She got back to us quickly and agreed to do a meet and greet. Our dogs LOVED her immediately. We have a 6 year old street dog whom we rescued from Mexico. He is very sweet but is slow to warm up to people. Within a few minutes of Karen being at the house he was begging her for pets. It was decided right then that Karen would be watching our fur babies. Fast forward a few weeks and we are all lined up and ready to go on our trip. We’ve done a pack walk with Karen and have walked her through their daily needs. Karen is very thorough and wants as much information about your pets as she can get. To make sure everyone was good to go, my husband and I took our senior dog to the vet to get her arthritis shot. We wanted to make sure she would be comfortable while we were gone. At the vet appointment, we got heartbreaking news. Our veterinarian had a difficult and honest conversation with us about our dog’s health and quality of life. Our senior was 19 years old and had started experiencing some cogitative decline and mobility issues. After several long discussions and uncertainty about our pup’s health while we would be gone, we decided it was time to allow our sweet baby to cross the rainbow bridge. We were devastated and, as you could imagine, were experiencing some anxiety and uncertainty about leaving the other two dogs. When we explained to Karen what happened, she provided so much comfort and security. She let us know that there wasn’t any pressure to go on the trip and assured us that if we did, she would make sure our dogs were well loved on. We ended up going to Alaska. During our trip, Karen sent us photos and videos, and made sure to give us daily updates. If we request additional photos or videos, she always sent them no questions asked. She went out of her way to make us feel at ease, and it really helped give us the space and peace of mind to process everything that happened. Having Karen care for our fur babies not only allowed us to go on a family trip, it’s also allowed us to grieve our loss without having to carry the stress of the day-to-day and making sure the other dogs were taken care of. It goes without saying, but we will definitely book with Karen again. If you’re considering hiring Karen for your pets, I highly recommend it. You will be a so happy you did. Thank you Karen. We truly appreciate you, and the love and care you extend to Doodle and Wendi while we were gone.”

I left town after my dog, Javier had an extremely bad allergic reaction to something the day before and she was so wonderful to give him his meds and get him back to his good ol’ self while I was away. She loves up my pets as if they’re her own. I can’t say enough about how much trust I had in her caring for them while I was away!
Melinda did a fantastic job with our dog! This was our first time ever leaving him with anyone and she took very good care of him and made him feel super comfortable. She also took great care of the house and left everything. Super neat and tidy. We will definitely hire Melinda again for our next trip. An Exceptional Sitter — We Couldn’t Have Been More Fortunate! Finding the right sitter for our two dogs has always been a challenge. Both weigh over 100 pounds, are highly protective, and are neither particularly dog-friendly nor people-friendly. They are more like guard dogs than conventional pets, accustomed to their own private quarters and the freedom to roam over an acre of fenced grounds. Since they were puppies, we have relied on a trusted sitter who flies in from San Francisco whenever we travel. While this arrangement worked beautifully for years, it made even a spontaneous weekend getaway difficult. Determined to find someone local, we spent considerable time interviewing dozens of potential sitters, but none seemed quite right. Then we found Kristen, and what a wonderful discovery she has been! From their very first meeting, Kristen connected with our dogs in a way that genuinely surprised us. She has a natural ease and confidence around them, along with the patience and sensitivity to understand their individual temperaments. She listened carefully to every instruction, followed their routines meticulously, and attended to every detail without missing a beat. Most telling of all, our dogs were happy and relaxed in her care. For two animals who do not readily accept strangers, that speaks volumes. It is difficult to express just how much it means to find someone we can trust with dogs who are not easy to entrust to anyone. Kristen has given us the freedom to travel without worry, something we had almost resigned ourselves to living without. We consider ourselves extraordinarily fortunate to have found her. Kristen is conscientious, dependable, intuitive, and truly exceptional at what she does. We recommend her wholeheartedly and without the slightest reservation. Thank you, Kristen, for caring for our dogs so beautifully and for giving us such invaluable peace of mind.
Jeff was perfect in every way as a dog/housesitter. He clearly understands dogs, he picked up on my dog's special quirks and provided many regular updates. I could tell from her body language that she was pretty comfortable despite me being gone. Jeff also left my place clean and looking good when I got back. I will book Jeff again!
It’s been two times now Claire has watched my puppy. She keeps in constant communication and sends lots of pictures. She took Mickie on a little adventure and he looked so happy to be hanging with her. She’s very observant and always checked in to insure she was creating a similar environment for Mickie. Shiloh was a fantastic sitter for my very shy, sweet cat Luna. This is the first time that I have hired a sitter through Rover, and I was very impressed by Shiloh’s attention to detail and thorough communication skills. Luna has some complicated dietary and medication needs and Shiloh was on top of all of it and kept me in the loop. Not surprisingly, Luna hid most of the time Shiloh was sitting, but they made sure to keep an eye on how she was doing the whole time and made adjustments to make sure she was eating and quickly addressed an unexpected health issue. Shiloh also was kind enough to accommodate a last minute scheduling change for my booked dates. Shiloh kept my apartment in great condition and it was exactly as I left it when I got home. Highly recommend Shiloh for cat care and pet sitting.
