“We had a wonderful experience with Patrick house/dog-sitting for us! He came over for a meet-and-greet before our trip, which we really appreciated and helped us feel confident leaving our dogs in his care. Throughout our vacation, he kept us updated with photos and messages, so we always knew our pups were doing well. He was very responsive, took great care of both our dogs and our home, and left everything clean and just as we left it. We came home to happy dogs and had complete peace of mind while we were away. We’d absolutely book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and trustworthy sitter!”

“Katherine is the best! She takes such good care of our dogs. She even fed my daughter's fish, got the mail and took the trash out for us. She sends many photos and updates which is so appreciated. I highly recommend Katherine as a pet sitter and am so thankful we found her! Thank you!”

“Sara was fantastic! She kept in touch with me throughout my trip and sent pictures. She did everything I asked her to do. She is very friendly, a very sweet, respectful young lady. I highly recommend her to everyone!”

About: I have experience with 2 Boston terriers of my own, as well as dog sitting for puppies and senior dogs! I am comfortable with giving medication and am able to walk the dogs every day! I have been taking care of my dogs since I was 13! I am currently in limbo, waiting for a new job and wanted to hop on here to help with furry friends! I do plan to continue working on Rover part time! I have been pet sitting by word of mouth for friends and family for about 7 years! I think it’s important that every pet family knows that they can have a caring and trustworthy individual taking care of their pets! <3 I have two dogs at home who I love very much! Ella is almost 11 and rose is my baby from COVID who is 6. So I have also dog sat for plenty of friends and family who have dogs of all ages and sizes! So, have plenty of experience with dogs!
“Thank you for caring for Baby. It gave me such a peace of mind while I was away. Thank you so much for the toy for baby, that was such a kind gesture! Would hire again”

About: Dogs are my favorite animal! Why? Because they are loyal, caring, fun and you already know this because you own one! :) I have a shepherd mix who I love dearly. I used to volunteer at West suburban humane society, and have dealt with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I feel comfortable around dogs and have lots of experience. I treat them like a member of the family. I love all animals, so if you have cats rabbits etc I will not be bothered. I have been around dogs since childhood and working with dogs is a dream of mine. If your dog needs medicine I have experience with that as well. I am extra gentle with senior dogs and can keep up with puppies I have a flexible schedule so I can work with your schedule. We can discuss your pets needs so I can accommodate your schedule easily. I follow owner instructions precisely and ask questions if anything seems unclear. Pet safety is always my number one priority. If I think a pet may not be safe for anyone I always reach out to the owner.
“Karen was wonderful with my dog while I was out of town for the weekend. My scheduled sitter had something come up last minute and I was lucky enough to find Karen available! I came home to a very happy and well-taken care of pup!”

About: 𐂯 Meet & Greets ฅ ฅ Detailed updates with photos/videos ᵔᴥᵔ Puppies, senior pets, anxious dogs & medications I've had pets my entire life and currently have two huskies who are a big part of my life. I've also cared for pets for family, friends, and neighbors, and I've volunteered at animal shelters, where I spent time with dogs of different ages, temperaments, and backgrounds. I know how stressful it can be to find someone you feel comfortable leaving your pet with. I’ll make each experience as easy and reassuring as possible. My goal is to eventually work with animals full-time, and Rover gives me the opportunity to do more of what I love while helping people in my community. I enjoy figuring out what makes each pet feel comfortable and loved! Adjusting to them instead of expecting them to adjust to me. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playing outside, sticking to their usual routine, or simply having someone nearby, I'm happy to adapt to what makes them most comfortable and gives you peace of mind. You'll receive regular updates and photos throughout each visit so you always know how your pet is doing. I'd love the opportunity to meet you and your pet! ․°𓃠•°․𓃦․• My Availability ﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌ ⟡ Weekday evenings (after school) ⟡ Weekends ⟡ Holidays ⟡ School breaks ⟡ Summer vacation 𓆉°❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・ I'm flexible, responsive, and believe in open communication, so you'll always have peace of mind while your pet is in my care! Your pet's safety is always my top priority. On walks, I stay alert to our surroundings, use secure leash handling, and tailor each walk to your pet's pace and comfort level. In your home, I'll respect your space, follow your care instructions and routines, and make sure your pet feels safe and comfortable.
“Lisa was super great with our pups, Penny and Sedona. They both warmed up to her immediately and Lisa made sure they were comfortable and loved while we were away. We got frequent updates and pictures which really eased our minds. Lisa also gave us peace of mind, being at the house and keeping us updated on things. She also took care of our chickens and went out of her way to get some extra treats when we ran out. We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter/housesitter to take care of our babies and our home. We will definitely be booking with Lisa again!”

“Tara is fabulous with my cat. I appreciated how much time and energy she spent playing with Jim Catsby. She sent me awesome photos and a video of their time together. Tara really cares about Jim, and leaving him happy. I’m grateful for her passion for pets and their care. She is motivated to give our pets the best experience possible.”

“Natalee did a great job and the dogs were happy and relaxed when we returned. I mean, as "relaxed" as these two get, anyway. They seemed to enjoy their time with her very much! We felt they were perfectly safe in her care.”

“Alyssa was absolutely a God send. She was incredible with our two kitties that we never left before. She was very thorough and detail oriented. Also she sent regular pictures and videos and messages. Anytime I reached out to her she was very quick to respond. She was the only person that our kitties actually went up to the first time they met her. They are always reserved and shy and actually run and hide from any visitors...even my parents that have been here several times took them several visits to get used to. Animals can sense a good hearted, caring person when they meet one. We will absolutely be using Alyssa on a regular basis. I know it can't be easy to trust someone you don't know staying at your house for several days but as soon as I met Alyssa, I was instantly comfortable and trusting of her. One word to describe her: PERFECT. :-)”

About: I have grown up with dogs and cats and have experience caring for both. I have my own pet dog who is a 10 year old mixed breed. I have administered medications and am comfortable caring for pets with special needs. I am a college student and am free for the summer. Have plenty of time to spend with your pets. I like going on walks with my dog clients and am happy to offer pets and treats to your fur baby while you are away. I can provide companionship, walks, feeding and toileting for your pets. Comfortable with both dogs and cats and can assist with any special needs they may have.

“As a first-time River user, we were a bit nervous but Peggy was terrific! She was knowledgeable, patient and understanding with our little nervous guy and they ended up being friends by the end of the weekend. Will definitely use Rover again!”

“Alyssa was amazing! She took such good care of our Benny! She sent pictures and kept us posted. We will certainly have her come back anytime we will be gone. It was nice to be able to leave and not worry about our pet. Thank you Alyssa!”

“Janet did an amazing job taking care of my dog, Max! She made sure he got plenty of long walks, kept me updated with great communication, and gave me peace of mind while I was away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about him and treated him like her own. I highly recommend Janet to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter, and I will definitely be booking her again the next time I need someone to take care of Max!”

“Rowan was excellent with my husky! He came over to meet her and familiarize himself with her routine, and he was very great with communicating his schedule and giving me updates on my dog. Would highly recommend Rowan!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Palos Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Palos Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Palos Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
