“Great experience with Ethel. We came in from out of town to watch a Red Stars game and she took care of our bernedoodle, Frankie. Ethel’s place is a very short way from SeatGeek Stadium and Frankie came back to us happy.”

“Mercedes is literally the best. She sent me pictures of my Ryder throughout the day and he looked so happy. I knew that he was in good hands. I will definitely return!!”

“Highly recommended! Desiree did a fantastic job watching our two dogs. Even though it was a gloomy, rainy day, she kept our pups happy and comfortable. Her place was very clean and well kept. She also sent pictures and a report. We will definitely book with Desiree again!”

“AWESOME SITTER - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Will be very happy to use Lynda again! I contacted Lynda the day before I was going for a spontaneous day trip to Michigan and she agreed to a last-minute booking for my dog Bob. Lynda was so gracious and invited Bob & me over to meet her, her husband, and their daughter's dog, Teddy. I was so thrilled Bob had a playmate for the day and the two pups got along very well! Lynda & Mark are fantastic people and even said to drop Bob off that night so I could start out early the next morning! Wow, did I appreciate that as it certainly made it easy for me! Lynda checked in with me the next day and all was well with Bob! I truly appreciated the update on my boy, Bob! My day trip ended up going a little later than planned and when I contacted Lynda to let her know I'd be late, she was wonderful! I felt genuinely fortunate to have Lynda and her husband watching Bob! Bob seemed very happy & content staying with them and I was extremely comfortable with this hospitable couple. I would highly recommend Lynda & Mark in a heartbeat and won't hesitate to have them watch Bob again!”

About: Animals are freakin awesome and I love them! I've had snails, a bird, frogs, co-owned cats (one at a time), as well as cat sit. I grew up with a dog, and spent 15+years with my beloved baby Shiba Inu Kenji. He had one eye, lots of arthritis, kidney issues, and half his teeth in the end but was full of life! Very familiar with meds and schedules and special needs, natural food etc. Not ready for another and didn't know much about this service. I wish l'd have known, so let me help YOU! (Note- i cannot take dogs over 60lbs, check box options are limited. Thanks for understanding) I work from home so can be available for full days, or as needed. Weekends I may have some things to do but will prioritize where needed. I do not have a crate, but you can provide. Otherwise I have bowls and beds and cones of shame as well as soft flower cone where needed. I also have gates and a pen, and multiple doors. I treat my animals (mine or family friends) like a kid. Safety always, lots of love, and a fun time!
“Barb is very nice person!! She watched my dog last minute and was awesome! He seemed to have a good time at her house playing with her pups. She sent over pics and videos thru the day. When he left she even gave him a gift with a toy inside which was extremely thoughtful of her. We will definitely be using her again.”

“Amazing care for my Butters. I was completely comfortable leaving him in Danny’s care. Daily pictures and a lot of space for Butters to run around. Will be coming back to Danny for future service! 5/5 Recommended!”

About: I’ve had a dog in our lives for the past 12 years who passed away a couple months ago. We rescued 3 kittens in 2021. Jack is our oldest cat and he is quite a character. Luz is our middle cat and she is the sweetest little thing to look at/she loves to talk. Baby is our not so little baby and is such a friendly loving cat. I’m currently working 80% remote from home during the week and available on the weekends. Having my cats at home have kept me company and make the day go by faster. My cats have free range of our home and no restrictions. They have their favorite spots to nap during the day which is our bathroom, under my teenagers beds and on my bed while I work. We have snack and play time but mostly love to lounge during the day. We’re looking to add some additional character in our environment. Our home will be your pets second home.
“Sarai and her family took such great care of my dog Chanel. She sent me pictures and videos, Chanel looked like she was having the time of her life. She gave her a bath, she smells so fresh and clean. I will definitely book Sarai for my future needs.”

“I am grateful to have found Iman. I feel good knowing my Gigi is in good hands. I was worried about finding quality care that could accommodate my late work schedule. I’ve never left my furbaby with anyone outside of my immediate family, it was scary. I had looked at Rover previously but never used their services, now I am so glad I did. Rover helped me find the best care for Gigi and Iman has been great accommodating my late work schedule. Iman set my heart and mind at ease and I am so thankful for the love & care she provides my fur-baby Gigi and I are both grateful for Iman ❤️”

I work with a flexible schedule and am especially free those cold months you don’t want to go outside. I am also for longer periods of of care for vacations and whatnot. I myself have a very friendly labradoodle and there’s plenty of space for them to run or walk on leash. I live near miles and miles of walking trails.

“Athena took wonderful care of our 9-year old yellow lab. She was available less than 24 hours for 1 day of dog sitting. Our dog was happy and relaxed when we picked her up. I highly recommend Athena to watch your pet!”

“Julian made sure my dog was comfortable! He sent pictures and updates throughout the day! He made sure to stick to my dog’s schedule! She had multiple walks. Overall, my dog had a good time with Julian and his dog and we will be seeing them again!”

“Jim was great, the dogs ran right in his house and started inspecting. Kinda like when you think your kid is going to want to stay with you on the first day of preschool and they run in without looking back. Jim will definitely be first choice going forward.”

Youngbeen did a wonderful job with our dog Poyo! They had instant connection when they first met, which surprised us because our dog normally takes forever before he becomes comfortable with another human. I also love how Youngbeen kept us posted and sending lots of pictures of what Poyo was currently doing. That gave us peace of mind knowing that our Poyo is in good hands. When we picked him up, seemed like he doesn’t want to go home yet Lol! Poyo was very relaxed and calm and happy when we got him. I will definitely book Youngbeen again. Oh! Also, noticed in the pictures that he has a clean place too, which is a big plus for us and Poyo.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
