“We greatly appreciate Ashley taking such wonderful care of our dogs! She kept us updated with lots of pictures and communicated well throughout the entire stay. Our house was left in great condition, and we could tell our dogs were in excellent hands. We would definitely use Ashley again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible and caring pet sitter. The dogs look forward to having her care for them again soon!”

“We booked Rose when looking for a house sitter for one night at the last minute. Our dogs seemed to take to Rose very quickly and when we returned home it seemed like we hadn't left, which is exactly what we wanted! Rose was kind and professional and sent us multiple photos of our dogs during the trip. There were also no issues at all with our house as everything seemed just as it was when we left. Highly recommend!”

“Karima took excellent care of our dog Goose and our apartment while we were away for over a week. She was caring, responsive, and helpful throughout her stay. She sent us daily updates and was very professional. She left our apartment clean and Goose absolutely loved her! I would definitely book with Karima again and suggest her for any of your dog sitting needs.”

“Anh took terrific care of our pups. She was responsive, sending daily updates and getting in touch with any questions she had about dog care. I absolutely recommend her for puppy care and will request her for future needs.”

About: I grew up with many pets. For example, I’ve had 6 birds, 3 hamsters, 1 dwarf gerbil, 1 leopard gecko, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and possibly more. I currently have 2 dogs. Both are rescues. Jasper is 2 years old and I’ve had him since he was about a month old if even that, and Raleigh who is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 2. Aside from the doggy babies, I also currently have a brown anole that I took in from Florida. His name is Tommy and I’ve had him for 4 months now. He was a baby when I found him. I also have 2 fish, Gumball and Penny. I personally believe all animals are babies. I’ve also pet sit for family members before. I’m currently working part time and I’m not yet in school. I do have a lot of free time, and because I don’t live alone I have people home to help take care of my furry and scaled friends, where as some people may need some extra help that I’d be able to provide! I was raised right. I’m respectful, do not cross boundaries, and know better than to disrespect clients (human and animal, of course!) I’m a big empath, I love animals beyond comprehension. I’m a vegetarian that’s working my way to veganism if that can show you how empathetic I am. I also cry while watching Ratatouille. I love walking, I love talking to animals, I treat animals as if they are literal babies because they are just too cute!
“We could not have left our dog, Waldo, in better hands than Stacey's! Stacey feels like family and Waldo felt that, too. We're grateful for her photo and video updates and attentive care. We strongly recommend Stacey!!”

“We are so lucky to have found Snowden on Rover! She house sat for 5 nights over Christmas for our senior rescue dog, Maggie, and everything was perfect. Snowden is quick to respond to all communication and Maggie immediately took to her so we knew she was in good hands. Snowden made sure Maggie took her morning meds, took her for walks, and sent us daily pictures. When we got back, Snowden had done laundry, made the bed, washed all the dog dishes and left the house in great shape. We definitely plan to book her again!”

“Courtney was great! We felt very comfortable being away knowing that our pets were getting so much love and attention. We had clear and frequent communications and a plenty of pictures confirming all the good things happening. We'd (and our critters) would be very happy to see Courtney again.”

“Tia was great! Highly recommend. She was super thoughtful with my (anxious) dog and it was wonderful to be able to relax while traveling and know my pup was in safe hands. Will definitely book her again!”

“Melissa was incredible. It was our first time having a housesitter and Melissa exceeded our expectations. We got multiple updates and photos each day without having to ask. Our house was immaculate and our puppy was happy. So grateful for Melissa!”

“Emerald helped us out in a big way when another pet sitter we had needed to drop because of a family emergency two days before our trip. We were able to get ahold of Emerald and get everything squared away to pet site for us the day before we left. She took amazing care of our pets and house.”
“This was our second time being lucky enough to have Lindsey stay in our home and take care of our dog Kona and it was wonderful. She provided plenty of updates, expertly dealt with Kona’s little quirks, and left our house in great shape. Thank you for everything!!!”

“Latisha is simply fantastic - kind, extremely competent, and seems to really like my dog. She also sends frequent and great photo updates! On this last sitting, there was an emergency with an appliance and I was delayed in getting back to town, and Latisha handled both cooly and professionally. Strong recommend!!”

About: I’ve always been around animals—I currently have a dog and three cats, so I’m used to daily care, feeding, and handling different personalities. I’ve also helped take care of my mom’s and brother’s pets over the years, so I’m comfortable stepping into someone else’s routine and making sure their animals are taken care of the right way. I’m patient, reliable, and I actually pay attention to details like feeding schedules, behavior, and making sure pets feel comfortable while you’re away. My schedule is pretty consistent, so I can plan around your pet’s needs. I’m available most days and can do mornings, afternoons, and evenings depending on what’s needed. I already take care of my own pets daily, so feeding, walks, and check-ins are part of my routine. I’m flexible and good with sticking to whatever schedule your pet is used to. I treat other people’s pets the same way I treat my own. I pay attention to routines, feeding instructions, and behavior so your pet stays comfortable and stress-free. I have experience with multiple animals at once, including my own dog and cats, so I’m used to different personalities and energy levels. I keep a clean, safe environment and can follow any specific instructions you have, including crating if needed.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Owings walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Owings maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Owings choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Owings. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
