This is so long overdue but I couldn't go without leaving a review. Audrey was a fantastic Dog Sitter and I couldn't be more grateful for how she took care of Max. Quick to respond, clear communication, pictures, video and updates. I never once had to question how Max was doing while I was away. She also came to stay at the house. She left my house in the state she found it, stripped her bed before leaving and even asked if I had any other requests before she left. I will definitely be using Audrey again and truly appreciate her, and Rover, for making my time away as comfortable as possible for Max.

About: Hi, My name is Michael M. I just moved backed home to Miami. Since my first memories we have always owned dogs. My mom had a habit of picking up stray dogs. Her heart always broke when she saw a furry defenseless dog begging for food or needing shelter. My mom's big heart exposed me to many types of dogs all different sizes and temperament. I have been dog sitting for a while now and it's one of my favorite things to do. I am a realtor and I am able to work from home during the day while clients are working and when I am away it's for only a few hours at a time. I have a fenced yard. Like I said my dog loves social interaction with other friendly doggies and would love to find friends he could play with. I am a real estate agent with my office at home. I will be able to watch over them while they play.

5 starts just isn’t enough. Scott was our first experience having our dogs house sit & first time leaving our pup, it was challenging passing him down to Scott, but he made it all possible, was flexible, helpful and surpassed all our expectations and MORE. Hands down, BEST doggie sitter out there & super loving with the pups. 10?

I HIGHLY recommend working with Lux (Emily B.). We needed a last minute cat sitter to come do a house stay. We were hesitant about leaving because our elderly cat had recently gotten injured, but Lux kept a careful eye on them the whole time and sent regular updates and sweet photos. They are kind, communicative, responsible, and genuinely love animals. They even stayed a bit longer than required to make sure our cat had company till we got home. So thoughtful, we will definitely be working with them again!

Nicole was the best with my baby Enzo! The whole time I felt completely at ease because she cared for him just as well as I would. I really appreciate how punctual she was, both for our meet and greet and on the day of the booking, which allowed me to leave home and catch my flight without any issues. She shared photos with me the entire time and was super transparent about her schedule, letting me know when she was with him or away from the house. She was very attentive to his routine and followed all the care instructions we gave her. She played with him, made sure he rested, and spoiled my little one. She went above and beyond our expectations, and Enzo loved her!

About: Animals have always been my passion, and I've dedicated both my education and career to caring for them. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences and have experience working with animals in a variety of professional settings. My background includes emergency veterinary medicine, where I learned to stay calm under pressure and recognize signs of illness or distress. I've also worked in a dairy cattle science laboratory, on a working farm, and in large animal care at Zoo Miami, giving me experience with animals of all sizes, temperaments, and needs. I currently work full-time at Royal Vet in Miami Beach, where I continue to expand my knowledge of animal health and welfare. My experience allows me to provide attentive, knowledgeable care, whether your pet needs medication, extra patience, or simply lots of love and playtime. I understand that every pet is unique, and I treat each one as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and happy while you're away, giving you peace of mind that they're in experienced and caring hands. Caring for animals is already a part of my everyday life. I work full-time at a veterinary hospital, so my days revolve around animal health and well-being. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with pets and making sure they receive the attention, exercise, and affection they need. Whether it's morning walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping them company, I enjoy building trust with every pet I care for. My schedule allows me to dedicate quality time to pet sitting before and after work, on weekends, and on my days off. I know that every pet has their own personality and routine, so I always strive to keep their schedule as consistent as possible. In my client's home, I follow all feeding, walking, medication, and care instructions carefully while making sure pets receive plenty of love, enrichment, and attention. I keep owners updated with photos and messages so they can feel confident their pet is happy and well cared for. With my background in veterinary medicine and animal sciences, I'm comfortable recognizing changes in a pet's behavior or health and can respond appropriately if any concerns arise. Above all, my goal is to create a calm, safe, and stress-free environment where pets feel comfortable while their owners are away.

We were given tons of pictures and Dayelin was impeccable with communication. This really helped put me at ease while being away from him for so long. 5 stars ⭐️

About: I've owned pets since 2013 and often dogsit my friends' dogs if they're away for an event, a weekend, or even a week at a time. I lived in Barbados for 2 years, where there are dozens of stray animals roaming the streets. I took in and rehabilitated an orange cat (featured in my photos) that has been brought to the US and is happily living in NYC with her new family. I do not have any pets in my apartment at the moment- my dog, Honey, is across the country with my mom. I have so much love to give pets and enjoy spoiling pets with the attention they deserve. The qualities I have as a graduating medical student directly translate into my care for pets- being punctual, patient, and passionate. I'm a full-time medical student with a fluctuating schedule. My weekends are free for boarding, walks, etc., but weekdays depend on my schedule for the given month. Weekday work schedule typically starts at 7am, and my availability will most often start at 5pm (or earlier some days). When I am home, I integrate my pet into everything I do. I love their company on the couch, bringing them on my daily walks, and even the puppy eyes when I’m cooking. I live with my partner in a pet-friendly condominium on the 5th floor. We have a partially-fenced yard with grass surrounding the condo and a balcony with our unit. Our front door has a double key-lock, with no possibility of a pet escaping. It is a large, 2-bedroom condo with plenty of space to roam in the open-concept living room and kitchen. There's plenty of unobstructed room for pet belongings (food, toys, bedding, etc.). I do not have any other animals living in the unit, I do not have a crate, and I love animals sleeping in the room/bed with me (if owner allows).

Janine was amazing!! She took such great care of our dog, Romeo. She kept us updated throughout her stay with texts and pictures. Our dog had gotten a little sick and Janine made sure to let us know, and went the extra mile to do the necessary tasks to make sure he got better. The cherry on top was her leaving cute little Polaroids of Romeo to come home to. Highly recommend Janine and will 100% be booking her again!!❤️

Amber did an amazing job taking care of our boys for our 2 weeks trip, first time we use a sitter for that long of a period but we didn’t have any concerns while we were overseas, she was very responsive even with a crazy 13 hours time zone difference. Will definitely keep booking Amber for our upcoming trips if she’s available.

FAQs for House Sitting - Opa-locka

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Opa-locka on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 4,126 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Opa-locka. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Opa-locka walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Opa-locka maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Opa-locka choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Opa-locka. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
