About: I've owned pets since 2013 and often dogsit my friends' dogs if they're away for an event, a weekend, or even a week at a time. I lived in Barbados for 2 years, where there are dozens of stray animals roaming the streets. I took in and rehabilitated an orange cat (featured in my photos) that has been brought to the US and is happily living in NYC with her new family. I do not have any pets in my apartment at the moment- my dog, Honey, is across the country with my mom. I have so much love to give pets and enjoy spoiling pets with the attention they deserve. The qualities I have as a graduating medical student directly translate into my care for pets- being punctual, patient, and passionate. I'm a full-time medical student with a fluctuating schedule. My weekends are free for boarding, walks, etc., but weekdays depend on my schedule for the given month. Weekday work schedule typically starts at 7am, and my availability will most often start at 5pm (or earlier some days). I live with my partner in a pet-friendly condominium on the 5th floor. We do not have a private, fenced yard, but we have grass surrounding the condo and a patio with our unit. Our front door has a double key-lock, with no possibility of a pet escaping. It is a large, 2-bedroom condo with plenty of space to roam in the open-concept living room and kitchen. There's plenty of unobstructed room for pet belongings (food, toys, bedding, etc.). I do not have any other animals living in the unit, I do not have a crate, and I love animals sleeping in the room/bed with me (if owner allows).
About: Hi, My name is Michael M. I just moved backed home to Miami. Since my first memories we have always owned dogs. My mom had a habit of picking up stray dogs. Her heart always broke when she saw a furry defenseless dog begging for food or needing shelter. My mom's big heart exposed me to many types of dogs all different sizes and temperament. I have been dog sitting for a while now and it's one of my favorite things to do. I am a realtor and I am able to work from home during the day while clients are working and when I am away it's for only a few hours at a time. I have a fenced yard. Like I said my dog loves social interaction with other friendly doggies and would love to find friends he could play with. I am a real estate agent with my office at home. I will be able to watch over them while they play.
âBrianna has been absolutely wonderful. This is the first time weâve ever left our boys in the hands of someone else and are confident that theyâve been loved and cared for. Brianna is friendly, responsive, and very good at what she does. Our dog and cat loved her from the moment they met. I absolutely recommend her care and will be booking with her again in the future!â

âMarina was an amazing pet sitter and weâre so grateful to have found her. She took excellent care of our pets during the holidays, followed all instructions carefully, and gave us great peace of mind while we were away. Our dog and cats were clearly comfortable and well cared for, and she was very attentive to their needs. On top of that, she kept our home very clean and tidy, which we truly appreciated. Marina is responsible, thoughtful, and clearly loves animals. We would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.â

âThis is the second time Laura has stayed with our two pups, at our home, and we cannot thank her enough for taking such good care of them! She is so considerate and goes above and beyond. We were able to enjoy time away with our granddaughters without any worries. Thank you again Laura! Looking forward to our next vacay!â

About: Iâm new to professional dog sitting, but Iâm extremely responsible, detail-oriented, and committed to following care instructions exactly as requested. I understand how important routines, safety, and clear communication are when caring for someone elseâs pet. Iâm comfortable with feeding schedules, leashed walks, basic care, and providing calm companionship. I take this responsibility seriously and will always prioritize your dogâs comfort and well-being. As an entrepreneur with a flexible schedule, pet care fits seamlessly into my routine. Iâm home often, work from my phone, and enjoy building calm, consistent days that include walks, check-ins, and quality time with pets. I focus on caring for pets in their own home, where they feel most comfortable and secure. I follow routines closely and treat each home with care and respect.

About: I have been around dogs and cats all my life. From small breeds to large breeds of dogs and a multitude of different cats. My aunt and cousin have over 7 cats and dogs each, all of which have different attitudes and personalities that I had to learn to cater to. I am a very caring and nurturing individual and I genuinely believe animals can sense that about me. I look forward to meeting your pet and giving them the care they deserve. I recently got let go by my job and am actively looking for work, so I am flexible with hours of care for your pet. If your pet is placed with me, I have enough room in my bedroom for them to play around in. My place is small hence why I would prefer medium to small breeds just so they have adequate space. I love big dogs as well. In the clients home I will respect their boundaries and rules of the house while still providing exceptional care.
About: I grew up around many different animals, often caring for those of friends and family while they traveled. My love for animals has always been strong and I'm excited about putting this passion into a career. I can't wait to meet your furry friends! I will only be available most week days and nights. Weekends only at night. I do freelance work so certain days I will need to be out of the house longer. I will always keep you informed on my comings and goings and make sure your pets are cared for. When caring for someone elses dog, I care for it as if it is my own because I hope that someone would put that care when watching my animals. Dogs go outside frequently throughout the day and walks depending on the dogs needs. Cat litter boxes are cleaned daily. All animals are fed on time, according to what they require. I am willing to cook for animals needing food freshly prepared!
âSarah and her partner Embry really came to our rescue when our original house sitter bailed halfway through our time away. We reached out to them day-of with an urgent request for a new house sitter and they were very responsive and understanding of our situation and so patient as we worked together to coordinate a remote handoff of our spare key and house/pet care instructions. Even though they were just finishing a stay with an existing client, they came over as fast as they could and went above and beyond with their care. They checked in often (which was so appreciated since we were abroad and scrambling to make sure everything at home was ok), followed our pet care instructions to a tee, and even took the time to do some cleaning/laundry which we were not expecting but were so thankful for. Connecting with Sarah and Embry turned a stressful situation into a positive experience and we're happy to have met such reliable and caring sitters! We will definitely be reaching out to them for help again in the future.â

âWe could tell from the photos on Imma's profile that she has a special touch with dogs: every dog in the photos is smiling. Our dog Guapo is usually shy and nervous with strangers, but he went right up to Imma when she walked in and happily let her pet him. He was at ease while we were away for the first time. Imma was conscientious about sending us photos of him walking, getting a bath, and smiling from ear to ear. Usually, when we return home, he goes nuts, barking hysterically. This time, he was calm when we returned. When Imma said goodbye, he was ready to follow her out the door. He soon warmed up to us again, and we were happy knowing that he felt secure and cared for while we were away. We highly recommend Imma -- and hope that she will be available whenever we go out of town again.â
âI cannot recommend Alyiah highly enoughâshe is absolutely amazing! She has been caring for my two dogs for years, and the love she has for them is truly special. She treats my pups like her ownâhonestly, like theyâre her childrenâand it shows in every single thing she does. What really sets Alyiah apart is how incredible she is when one of my dogs isnât feeling well. She goes above and beyond, making sure theyâre comfortable, giving medications carefully and reliably, and providing so much extra attention and care. It gives me complete peace of mind knowing theyâre in her hands. Her updates and photos are thoughtful and reassuring, and you can just feel how much she genuinely cares. If youâre looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and truly exceptional, Alyiah is the BEST. Five stars isnât enough ââââââ

Fiona was amazing with our fur babies. We went on an extended trip for our wedding and honeymoon. Fiona sent us video and picture updates that made us feel as ease during our travels. My bulldog even got himself a girlfriend, played so well with Luna. Fiona went above and beyond I would definitely love for her to watch our babies again.

Amber did an amazing job taking care of our boys for our 2 weeks trip, first time we use a sitter for that long of a period but we didnât have any concerns while we were overseas, she was very responsive even with a crazy 13 hours time zone difference. Will definitely keep booking Amber for our upcoming trips if sheâs available.

Joalys was wonderful and communicated really well during the entire stay. This was my first time using the service to house sit and thankfully it worked out to be a great experience thanks to her. I highly recommend her services as she communicates really well and is great with animals.

FAQs for House Sitting - Norland
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Norland on Rover is $34.41 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,336 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Norland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Norland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Norland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Norland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norland. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
