“Shay is the absolute best! She stayed at our house for a week taking care of our four pets. She clearly loves animals, and it shows in how comfortable they were with her from the start. Shay sent photos and updates every day, was extremely responsive, took great care of our home, and even left Christmas presents for our two dogs. We weren’t stressed at all while we were away knowing she was staying at our place. We will definitely reach out again to invite her back!!”

“We used Bonnie for the first time this week for an in home stay! We have 5 dogs and farm animals. It was so refreshing to leave town and not have to worry about their care. Bonnie was sure to to send updates and pictures throughout the day. On our return, the dogs were happy and the house was in order just how we left it and then some. I would recommend her to anyone looking for pet care, and look forward to using her in the future. Thank you, Bonnie!!!”

“She did an amazing job watching our dogs and cat! She was very kind, caring, and thorough, and our animals took to her right away. She met with us beforehand to go over everything, which made me feel very comfortable leaving them in her care. I really appreciated how detailed she was with her updates, especially letting me know when the animals had been fed and keeping me informed of anything that came up. There really weren’t any issues, but on the occasions when something did come up, I appreciated that she communicated it with me rather than leaving me wondering. She was absolutely lovely to work with, and I could tell she genuinely cared about our pets. I would definitely hire her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and dependable to care for their animals!”

“Addie was very easy to communicate with and answered immediately. She is obviously a dog lover and our dogs had a great time as seen in pictures and videos send by Addie. We will definitely be a repeat customer!”

About: Dogs have been part of our lives for as long as we can remember. Gage was raised around dogs from a young age, his dad bred bullies, so he grew up learning canine behavior, body language, and daily care firsthand. After getting married, we added four dogs of our own, which deepened our passion for training, boarding, and understanding how dogs learn best. We have experience with dogs of all sizes and ages, including a Bull Mastiff, Pit/Lab mix, Rottweiler/Boxer mix, Great Dane, and a Boxer. Large breeds, high-energy dogs, puppies learning structure, and gentle seniors all receive care tailored to their specific needs. We understand that young dogs need consistency and patience, while senior dogs often need a slower pace and extra attentiveness. What truly sets us apart is that we intentionally keep things small and personal. We board a maximum of two dogs at a time (one family at a time), ensuring individualized attention, proper supervision, and a calm environment - never overcrowded, rushed, or chaotic. Cleanliness and safety are top priorities in our home. After each stay, we fully sanitize spaces, wash bedding, disinfect crates and play areas, and properly dispose of waste to maintain a clean, healthy environment for every dog. We also believe communication matters. Regular updates, photos, and check-ins are sent so you can relax knowing your dog is safe, cared for, and genuinely loved while you’re away. We own a small business offering guided boat tours, fishing trips, and jet ski rentals, which gives us a highly flexible schedule. Because we control our calendar, we only accept pet care bookings when we are fully available to dedicate our time and attention to your dog. Since we both work from home, your pup will not be left alone for extended periods. Pet care naturally fits into our daily routine, with built-in time for morning and evening walks, play sessions, feeding schedules, and plenty of supervision throughout the day. Our days are structured around consistency and companionship. Whether your dog thrives on activity and engagement or prefers a quieter, relaxed environment, we’re able to provide steady attention, a calm atmosphere, and dependable care from start to finish. Our home is a quiet, structured, and comfortable environment designed to feel like home, never like a kennel. As mentioned above, we intentionally care for only 1–2 dogs at a time (1 pet family at a time), which allows us to provide focused supervision, individualized attention, and a low-stress setting. Dogs enjoy supervised playtime, regular outdoor breaks, consistent feeding schedules, and plenty of downtime to rest and decompress. We pay close attention to each dog’s personality and energy level, adjusting care to ensure they feel secure and comfortable throughout their stay. Crates are never required unless your dog prefers the familiarity of one. We also have a dedicated spare bedroom where one of us can sleep with your dog, so they don’t have to sleep alone or feel isolated. Maintaining routine, safety, cleanliness, and emotional comfort are always our top priorities. Whether in our home or during drop-in visits at yours, we follow your established routines closely - including feeding schedules, medications, exercise needs, and any specific instructions - so your dog experiences as little disruption as possible. Every dog in our care is treated with the same patience, structure, and affection we give our own.
“Wow! Katherine was Amazing! Great personality and she kept me informed and went the extra mile! She was on time, super nice, and Luna seemed so happy when we got home! She will definitely be my go to person! So don’t book her, because she’s all mine! lol! Just kidding!”

“Terry was great! We were visiting Florida from out of town and needed a sitter for 8+ hours with fairly short notice. Our sweet pup isn't always a fan of strangers - especially when we're leaving him with them. Terry was able to win him over - and even sent me a video of her giving him a belly rub! Not only was she willing to stay with him the entire time, but she brought him two toys - one being a stuffed alligator which has become his favorite since we've returned home! Terry clearly loves animals and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for someone to spoil their pet while they're away - she's Dudley approved!”

“Leaving your furry family members for an extended period of time is never easy. Hailey helped to make the situation as good as it could have been. She was conscientious of our needs and very respectful of our home. We loved receiving updates and pictures during her stay and she was always quick to respond whenever we would reach out. We found Hailey to be diligent, trustworthy and prompt. We have already scheduled her next stay.”

“Excellent pet sitter for my cats. She Kept me informed daily how they were doing even sent photos. Took great care of my home while staying there. She even washed and changed the bedding before my return.”

“Misty is by far the best petsitter, pet lover, house sitter, and person in the world! I mean it! My dog absolutely adores her, and Misty hangs out and loves your pet as if it was her child! She is amazing and I wouldn’t have anyone else!”

About: I currently take care of two dogs and one cat in my house. I've taken care of my house pets since I was a kid (three dogs, three cats) Out of school for the summer and don't have class unit August. Even if I can't stay over we can still discuss arrangements for me to come over when I'm out of class. Feed them in the morning and late afternoon (or if client had a requested feeding time), take them for a nice walk, and play with the animals to keep them active
About: I have always had animals my whole life. Myself and parents have rescued dogs as well. I am an animal lover no matter the size or breed. I have 2 dogs that myself and my 3 year old son adore. They are up to date on shots.
“Shaya was absolutely wonderful! She took such great care of our pups and our home. She followed all of our home and dog instructions perfectly, had the house super clean when we returned, towels cleaned and folded, sheets washed, bed made, floors cleaned, dishwasher ran. Most importantly the dogs were perfectly fine, fed, watered, and happy! We are so happy to have found a trustworthy dog and home sitter we can use moving forward because that can be difficult and inhibit people from taking trips. Highly recommend Shaya. We will absolutely use her again in the future if she will allow us! Thank you, Shaya! Drax and Lilu look forward to seeing you again for our next trip!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ocklawaha walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ocklawaha maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ocklawaha choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
