“Michelle house sat for an our 62 lb 1-year-old labradoodle and brought her own 13 lb 2-year-old Duchhunt along with her. She was very respectful of our differen dog house rules (our dog is not allowed on our furniture) and accommodated our labradoodle's hyper arousal around her little dog, by the end of the week our dog was much better behaved around her dog, which was an added bonus towards his socialization. She told us our dog was ready for greater independence in our home with less dog gates etc, which was input we appreciated. She was respectful of our home and left it as she found it. She was very communicative, we heard from her daily with pictures and she responded promptly to any inquiries from us. I would highly recommend her without reservation.”

“Sabrina was amazing with our high energy GSP. She sent lots of pictures and made us feel super comfortable leaving our sweet girl for the first time. She followed our requested routine and cared for our pup just as we would have. We will definitely be using her again!”

“Really good response on very short notice made my trip away for a day worry-free. Pics were sent and the dogs were very relaxed and happy when I arrived later. I would definitely use Amy J again. Thanks also to TJ. Brian B”

About: My name is Noah. I'm a work from home animal lover so your dog will never be lonely. I am passionate about animal care and I have a very open schedule which means that your dog will always be at the top of my priority list. My phone is by my side 24/7 so feel free to call, check up, or chat with me at any time. All animals are allowed to roam free and chill on the furniture so please make sure to groom your fur baby before bringing them to my home. I look forward to meeting and caring for your dog in the future. Why I love dog sitting From the day I was born, I have had dogs in my life. I grew up in a house with a puppy named "MacMac". Until I was about 16yrs old, he never left my side. Maybe my name has something to do with it, but I have always been an avid animal lover. I cherish every moment that I am able to spend with them because of their undeniable innocence and pure intentions. Please be advised: If your animal has fleas, they will not be allowed to enter and will be immediately returned to you so please make sure your dog / cat is groomed before your booking. -Thank you Open schedule. I don't take dogs if I have plans so nothing will change with my routine. Plenty of space and time for the job. I walk dogs whenever at least 6 times a day or whenever they ask me to. Comfortable with meds / heated food. Open top separation fencing available.
“Christina truly went above all my expectations in not only caring for my pet, but for my home, as well. Christina was responsive and attentive from the moment I reached out to her to the moment I arrived home. It was such a relief to see my fur child happy, safe, and loved while I was away, and stress-free when I came home. Liam and I will definitely be reaching out to Christina in the future. Thank you, Christina!!”

“This was our first time using Rover and Cindy went above and beyond our expectations! Our four puppies were very well taken care of, and Cindy did an amazing job! We were away for 4 days and she came to our house to watch the dogs. They got all of the love and attention that they get when we are with them! Looking forward to Cindy coming to take care of them again :)”

About: I've always been a dog lover. We have had experience watching our family and friends dogs for periods of time, prior to joining Rover. We grew up with dogs and have had pets all of our lives. I currently own a miniature dachshund named Mushu. I take watching your dog seriously. It’s important that they are cared for, loved, safe, and most importantly that they have fun. Because they are on vacation too! They'll have free rein of my apartment with plenty of room to play and places to curl up and nap. I don't have any kids and only board one dog at a time, so your pup's "vacation" can be as stress-free as possible! I live near lots of walking paths and enjoy going on long walks myself, so if your dog can walk (or even run) for 2-4 miles at a time, then we can certainly do that! If not, we can stay closer to home for some short walks or hanging out in several large grassy areas close by. I love taking lots of pictures of my furry sleepovers, and will be happy to send you updates and pics as often as you like while you are away! We look forward to having the opportunity to watch your furry family member.
About: I've had the joy of having dogs and cats in my life for as long as I can remember, and over the years, I've also gained experience taking care of birds, bunnies, and chickens. As a retired couple, we're home all the time and have a spacious, half-acre fenced yard where your pets will feel safe and comfortable. With our flexible schedule, we're able to offer both boarding and daycare services, and we promise to treat your pets like they're part of our family. Whether it's cuddling with our dogs and cats or caring for other animals, we're always ready to provide the love and attention your pets deserve. Pet care is an important part of my daily routine and something I genuinely enjoy. I organize my schedule around the pets I care for to ensure they receive plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and rest. Since I only accept a maximum of 3 pets at a time for boarding or daycare, I’m able to give each one the personalized care they deserve. This also helps me create a calm and safe environment, especially for smaller dogs, as it prevents them from feeling overwhelmed or at risk around larger or more energetic pets. Safety, trust, and a welcoming environment are at the core of how we care for pets in our home. Our spacious, half-acre fenced yard ensures your pets have a secure and safe space to play, explore, and relax. We take great pride in creating a calm, loving atmosphere where pets feel at ease. As a retired couple, we're home all the time, which means your pet will never be left alone for long periods. With our experience caring for a variety of animals, we focus on building trust and making sure each pet is comfortable, happy, and well-looked after. You can rest assured knowing that we treat your pets like they are our own, offering a safe, caring environment while they’re in our care.

“We came in to town for the football game and Shaya ended up watching our Luna at the hotel. It was such a pleasure to meet Shaya and Faith. Throughout the day Shaya sent several updates, pics and videos! I loved it all. We could tell Luna was being loved and taken care of just as if they care for their own fur babies. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Huntington
Samantha went above and beyond when watching our Border Collie for a week. She treated her like her own and spoiled her. We were given frequent updates and pics that really put us at ease. We also have outdoor cats and some chickens that are mostly self sufficient but she took the time to check on them as well even though that wasn’t part of the booking. We would 100% book her again and recommend her to anyone.

Benson, absolutely loved Valerie, and so did I. She stayed in my house and took care of my doggie the whole time, followed my instructions to the T and took care of my fish and chickens. She is wonderful! I came home to a clean house. I will definitely be using her again. Thank you, Valerie for doing such an awesome job!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Huntington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Huntington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Huntington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
