Kelsey was great with our Goldendoodle! This was our first time using Rover and she came to meet Brodie the week before we went away. While we were away, she kept us updated with photos and took great care of him for two nights. We would book with her again and highly recommend to anyone looking.

Heidi was wonderful with my senior dog! Lulu has a lot of quirks and needs a little extra care, but she handled everything perfectly. I came home to a happy, relaxed dog, and I could tell she was well cared for. Heidi is reliable and trustworthy. Highly recommend!

About: After 15 years with my dog, I’ve transitioned to being the go-to dog walker and sitter for my family and friends, and am excited to ! I have experience caring for dogs in every phase of life, from the energetic puppy days, to the senior days that required more attention. I understand firsthand what it takes to look after an aging dog, from mobility issues, to medication schedules, to just understanding an individual dog’s quirks. But, I’m just as comfortable with the energy and playfulness of puppies and young dogs, and I adjust my approach to fit whatever stage of life a dog is in. Working from home with limited meetings allows me to dedicate the time and care to dogs that they deserve, and I don’t mind the company myself! Whether your dog needs a walk, backyard exercise, feeding, a drop-in check, or someone to cuddle with on the couch while you’re away, I can accommodate your pet's needs! I treat every dog I meet with the love, kindness, and affection that I gave my dog, and I can’t wait to share that with more local dogs! I work from home with a flexible schedule, which allows me to be with pets all day and go for regular bathroom breaks/walks during the day as well. I am also available on weekends! When I’m in a client’s home, I follow their instructions, my goal is to keep their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, same feeding times, walk schedule, and any medications, so there’s minimal disruption while they’re away. I also make sure to give plenty of one-on-one attention and playtime, keep the home secure and tidy, and stay alert to any changes in behavior, eating, or energy level. I’m also careful with yard safety, checking that fences and gates are secure before letting a dog out and keeping an eye on them the whole time, rather than assuming a fenced yard means no supervision is needed. I also always keep the owner updated with photos or messages during the stay

Outstanding care for two special‑needs cats, last‑minute booking, and stellar communication! Skye did a truly fantastic job watching my two cats, both of whom need extra care. One is blind, and the other is diabetic and receives twice‑daily subcutaneous injections, and Skye administered medications exactly on schedule. From the start, Skye was incredibly kind, flexible, and professional—especially given how last‑minute the booking was due to an emergency. I received regular updates, which were so reassuring. I appreciated knowing that medications were given on time, feeding routines were followed, and my cats were comfortable and safe. The initial meet-and-greet was warm and professional, which immediately put me at ease. Skye’s attention to our cats’ special needs was exactly what we were hoping for in a sitter. Thank you so much, Skye — your flexibility, compassion, and reliability are deeply appreciated. I would absolutely book again and highly recommend your care to anyone who has pets with medical or unique needs

Nikki was amazing! She took such good care of our pets. We have two Irish setters and two elderly cats. She loved them like they were hers and kept me informed the entire time with photos. I felt very comfortable and she also took such good care of our home, including helping watering our outdoor plants and taking out/in garbage. I highly recommend her!

He sent me updates and pictures throughout the night. I was able to have fun and not worry about my furry kids. I highly recommend him. My littles LOVED him. He was professional and courteous but still rolled around and snuggled and I can’t wait to use him again. He’s a 10/10! Thank you Luca!!

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats my whole life. I’ve done all the chores that come with them. I’ve had a big dog and a little dog almost my entire life. My big dog is now older, so I have to help him with his arthritis. I’ve had to pick up poop, feed them, walk them, and massage him. I don’t have a job currently, so I’m free for anyone’s convenience! Besides when I have to go to the gym, or when im on vacation. I have a fenced yard and a specific place for them to use the bathroom outside, and also have a pee pee pad inside that I switch out twice a day.

I strictly follow your house rules, ensure all doors and windows lock securely, and keep your key with you at all times. I do a perimeter check of fence gates before letting pets outside and keep counters clear of food or hazards. About: Hi there! My name is Kristin and I have a lifelong passion for all animals. Growing up on a horse farm, I was surrounded by various animals and always had cats and dogs as pets. Outside of having pets growing up, I have helped out friends and family members with dog, cat, and house sitting for them over the past 10+ years. I have experience with a variety of breeds, ranging from big breeds such as Pitbulls and Boxers to smaller breeds like Yorkies and Jack Russells. I care for all animals with all my heart and your pets will be in loving hands with me! I work full time in Monmouth county, so weekends would be ideal for me. However, if your pet doesn't need to go out as frequently, I can definitely help out during the week. I am typically out of the house between 10am-6pm, so I can play with/walk/feed them before or after those times. Weekends are totally open for me so I can do whatever your pet needs. In my client's home, I will follow their typical routine and do whatever they do to care for their pets. I always respect their home and make sure I leave it as clean as possible.

About: I have worked at a doggy daycare since September now. I have had pets my entire life. I currently have a mixed dog and I’ve had a chocolate lab and a Lhasa Apso in the past. I am a huge animal lover! I work part-time at a doggy daycare, boarding, and grooming facility, and I recently graduated Monmouth University and am currently at Monmouth to study to be a speech-language pathologist. I wanted to spend even more time with dogs, to help the feeling of missing my own! I am always free and will make time to give your pets all the hugs and love they deserve! I would treat your dog the same I would treat my own. I would love and care for your dog because I would want someone to do the same for mine.

Skye was an amazing sitter for our cat, Mama. We received numerous photos and videos on a daily basis, and we were updated regularly on how things were going. Mama seemed to really enjoy her time with Skye, and she even started laying on her bed that we bought for her (which she had never done before - she’s more of a box girl). We’d highly recommend sky to anyone who wants a kind, caring, responsible sitter for their pet!

Hunter took wonderful care of my sweet animals while we were away. My senior dog wasn’t feeling well and was unable to move from her bed, which could have been incredibly stressful. Hunter handled the situation with so much care, patience, and compassion. She was able to easily administer her medications, made sure she was comfortable at all times, and gave her the attentive, thoughtful care she needed during a vulnerable moment. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing she was in such capable and loving hands. She also made sure our cat was well cared for and loved while we were away. I’m incredibly grateful for Hunter and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible, kind, and trustworthy pet caregiver.

FAQs for House Sitting - Oceanport

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Oceanport on Rover is $76.67 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 16,886 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oceanport. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oceanport walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oceanport maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oceanport choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oceanport. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
