This was our first time booking with Brenda, and she did an excellent job of making my pup feel at home and putting my mind at ease. She really treated Gracie as if she was her own, with lots of affection, play, and exercise. She did a great job of communicating with me also, sending updates, pictures, and videos. I would definitely book with Brenda again.

John was an excellent boarder for Milo. He took such great care of him and kept me updated throughout his stay by sending pictures and text messages. He also made sure Milo received his medication on time and as scheduled. Thank you, John, for giving me peace of mind and reassurance knowing that Milo was in such good hands. I truly appreciate the love and care you gave him!

Dan and Denise are AWESOME!! I had a family emergency during the coronavirus crisis and had to find a sitter for my brother's six year old pitbull, Blue, ASAP. I went on Rover.com and sent an email to Dan at 3:00 A.M. asking if he could take care of Blue for us, not just for a few days but almost a month! To my surprise, Dan answered me immediately! We arranged for a "greet and meet" the next day and fortunately Dan and Denise were able to take Blue in that very same day. I was so afraid Blue was going to have separation anxiety and be distressed since he has always been with my brother - that fear quickly subsided with Dan and Denise reassuring me he would be well looked after and they had taken care of many, many dogs, including pitties. Well, Blue was one SPOILED pup during his stay! Dan and Denise have a beautiful home, a large fenced in yard for their doggie guests to play in and the T.L.C. is first class! Each day, I would receive a text update and either a video or picture from Denise and Dan showing Blue running in the yard, snoozing in bed, hanging out in the living room or laying next to Denise in her office. I was able to go see Blue several times during his extended stay and he was always content and happy! I cannot thank Dan and Denise enough for their kindness to Blue and our family during this difficult time and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them !!

Rachel and Henrik (and their two wonderful kids!) watched our two Goldendoodles for the weekend, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. From the start, it was clear this was a perfect fit—we did a meet-and-greet beforehand, and instantly felt comfortable. Their home is beautiful, clean, and has a great backyard where our dogs had plenty of space to run and play. More importantly, our dogs were treated like part of the family—they got tons of attention, snuggles, and care all weekend. We also really appreciated the frequent updates and photos, which gave us total peace of mind. When we dropped them off, our dogs were so excited they ran right in without hesitation—that says everything. You can truly tell how much Rachel and Henrik love dogs and care for them as their own. One of the nicest families we’ve met, and we felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were so well cared for. We will absolutely be using them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional dog care.

About: I’ve cared for family dogs my whole life and I’m usually the person family and friends call when they need a reliable pet sitter. I have experience with dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need extra patience and gentle care. I’m comfortable with dogs of all personalities and also have experience administering medication to my own dog, Milo, so I understand the importance of consistency, routines, and paying close attention to a pet’s needs. With Milo, I handle everything from bathing and daily care to teaching basic tricks and maintaining a structured routine. I truly enjoy building trust with animals and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I’ll treat your dog with the same care and attention I give my own. What makes me stand out from other sitters is the amount of time and attention I can dedicate to your pet. Starting in June, I’ll be home full-time during the weekdays and available for drop-ins and house sitting, allowing me to provide flexible scheduling, frequent potty breaks, companionship, and attentive care throughout the day. For walks, I focus on making them both fun and mentally stimulating — not just a quick walk around the block. Depending on your dog’s personality and energy level, walks can include sniff breaks, exploring new routes, light training reinforcement, and engaging activities to keep them mentally enriched as well as physically active. My drop-in visits can include: * Potty breaks * Feeding and fresh water * Playtime and exercise * Snuggles and companionship * Basic routine care and attention For house sitting, I provide overnight stays along with attentive daytime care every 0–2 hours depending on your dog’s needs. This includes potty time, walks, feeding, playtime, cuddles, medication if needed, and making sure your pet feels comfortable and cared for in their own home environment. Pet care is already a huge part of my daily routine, so caring for animals comes very naturally to me. My own dog, Milo, has a structured schedule that includes walks, playtime, feeding, grooming, training reinforcement, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m very used to planning my routine around a dog’s needs and making sure they feel comfortable, stimulated, and cared for consistently. Starting in June, I’ll be home full-time during the weekdays, which allows me to give pets much more attention and companionship than sitters who may be balancing another full-time job. Because of this, I’m able to provide frequent potty breaks, consistent supervision, and flexible scheduling for drop-ins, walks, and house sitting. I especially love building routines that help dogs feel safe and relaxed while their owners are away. I don’t believe pet care should feel rushed or transactional. I genuinely enjoy spending quality time with animals and paying attention to their individual personalities and comfort levels. Some dogs want long walks and active play, while others prefer slower walks, cuddles, or calm companionship. I adjust my care to fit each pet specifically. Mental stimulation is also something I prioritize because I know it’s just as important as physical exercise. During walks and visits, I like incorporating sniff time, interactive play, and enrichment activities to help keep dogs mentally engaged and happy. For puppies, I’m patient with routines, potty training consistency, and energy management, and for senior dogs, I understand the importance of slower pacing, medication schedules, comfort, and gentle care. One thing that makes me stand out is the level of attention and presence I provide. I’m not someone who simply stops in for the minimum amount of time and leaves. I truly enjoy bonding with pets and making sure they feel loved and comfortable while their owners are away. I also know how important communication is for pet parents, so I make an effort to send updates, photos, and details about how their pet is doing so they can feel reassured and connected. Whether it’s a walk, a drop-in, or overnight care, I aim to make pets feel like they’re spending time with someone they know and trust rather than just being “checked on.” I currently do not host pets in my own home, but I’m happy to care for them in the comfort of your home where they feel safest and most comfortable. My goal is to keep your pet’s routine as normal and stress-free as possible while giving them plenty of attention, companionship, and care. For drop-ins, I provide potty breaks, feeding, fresh water, walks if needed, playtime, mental stimulation, and lots of cuddles and attention. For house sitting, I stay overnight with your pet and provide attentive daytime care including potty breaks every 0–2 hours depending on their needs, walks, feeding, medication administration if needed, playtime, and companionship. I have experience with puppies, senior dogs, and administering medication to my own dog, Milo, so I’m comfortable adjusting care to fit each pet’s personality and needs. Starting in June, I’ll be home full-time on weekdays, allowing me to provide flexible scheduling, frequent check-ins, and more quality time with your pet than many sitters are able to offer.

My puppies were so happy to stay with Elaina, and her family. I have a senior dog and a great dane puppy. They were right at home from the initial meet n greet. As soon a I let them off the leash to see if they'd be comfortable, they were doing zoomies in their super big fenced in yard. Elaina's family were all friendly, and communicative throughout the entire stay. I hope Elaina will always available every time I need a sitter because her and her family are my go to's. Highly recommend

Diana was amazing with my pup, Louis! He had an absolute blast — especially getting to run around outside and play with the other dogs and kids, which is such a treat for him since he doesn’t get that kind of freedom in Manhattan. I could tell he was well cared for and totally in his element. Communication was great, with tons of photos daily, and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such a loving, fun environment. I’d strongly recommend Diana to anyone looking for a thoughtful and responsible sitter — we’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Katlyn was great with my Joe. She sent me pictures and took great care of him. He is usually very anxious with new places but he did very well there. He seemed very relaxed when I picked him up. Also, my flight landed earlier and I needed to get him about 45 minutes earlier than expected. Katlyn was very accommodating. I will definitely use her again.

FAQs for Boarding - Oakdale

Frequently asked questions about Rover

There are 2,413 sitters on Rover for Pet Boarding in Oakdale. About 88% of Oakdale sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.

Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
