“One of my dogs had to go to the vet and was put on several medications the day before we left. Ron had no problem caring for him and making sure he received his medicine. He also kept me updated on how he was doing. Everything went great and the dogs came back happy and well cared for.”

“This family took great care of our dog and hamster, I highly recommend. I received pictures throughout our time away and updates on how the animals were doing. I will contact them for our next vacation away from home.”

“Got the cutest pics and videos of Ash enjoying his time with the whole crew 😊 he was super content and very well cared for. I'm going to have to find my trips are gone so he has an excuse to head over there again”

“Zuko’s favorite place to be!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We will continue to leave our fur baby with Kylee for as long as she will take him!! :) He loves playing with his new friends there and Kylee is always sending us pictures during his stay which makes me feel so much better about leaving him!”

“Lola had a wonderful time with Grainne and Patrick. She was there for an extended time and I think she may have had a better holiday than me! “Allison was really easy to work with. Her and her family took good care of my dog and responded timely with updates when I checked in. I would gladly work with her again in the future.”

About: “My husband and I are lifelong dog lovers with over 20 years of experience caring for our own dogs, including two Dobermans and two Miniature Schnauzers. We recently lost our Doberman and currently don’t have any dogs of our own. We truly miss having a dog around, and would love the opportunity to care for yours. Your dog will get plenty of individual attention, love, and care while with me. Were dependable, patient, and happy to follow your dog’s normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and at home while you’re away. I’m home during the day and evenings and have a very flexible schedule, so your dog will have plenty of company while they’re here. My husband will also be helping with their care, and he loves dogs just as much as I do. We love having dogs around and will have lots of time for walks, playtime, potty breaks, cuddles, and just hanging out together. We’ll do our best to keep your dog’s routine familiar and make them feel comfortable, loved, and right at home while they’re with us. We have a huge fenced yard, and while we don’t currently have a dog of our own, we do have six chickens that live securely in their enclosed coop and are kept separate from the dogs. Your dog will get lots of love and individual attention from both of us. We both love dogs and understand that every dog has their own personality and routine. We’re happy to follow whatever makes your dog feel most comfortable, including their normal feeding, medications, and daily routine. Safety is really important to us. Our home is clean and secure, and we make sure anything that could be dangerous or a choking hazard is kept out of reach. Since I’m home most of the time, your dog will have plenty of supervision, potty breaks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. We will always let you know if we plan to be away from home for more than two hours. We’re also happy to do a meet and greet beforehand so you and your dog can feel comfortable with us. Most of all, we want your dog to feel safe, loved, and like part of our family while they’re here. We also have an extra kennel available if needed.
“Hayley & Graham are so awesome! I know Millie is in great hands when I drop her off at their house. Millie loves playing with their pup and is always so exhausted at the end of the day. They are very accommodating to your schedule and very responsive. I would highly recommend them to watch your pet😊”

About: I’m a dog owner and lifelong animal lover with years of experience caring for dogs of all breeds and temperaments. I have a 7-year-old Shiba Inu of my own, so I understand the quirks of independent, strong-willed breeds. I work from home which means your dog gets consistent attention throughout the day rather than sitting alone for hours. I’m calm, reliable, and treat every dog like family. Your pup will be well exercised, well loved, and well cared for. I work fully remote from home, meaning your dog gets consistent company and attention throughout the entire day. No long hours alone. I’m available for boarding any day of the week and can accommodate last minute requests. Walks happen morning and evening, and as needed with plenty of downtime in between. Your dog will be staying in my clean, comfortable apartment where they’ll be treated like family. I’m an experienced dog owner with a Shiba Inu of my own, so I understand dog behavior and body language well. I keep a calm, structured environment and will always communicate with you about how your pup is doing. Your dog’s safety and comfort is my priority.
“Milo has found his GO TO sitter🔥. Chris was amazing to work with and mind if i say very flexible and communicative. Our Milo had a blast staying with Chris And of course Bear and Cosmo. I would highly recommend his service to anyone. How he took the time to really get to know Milo is one thing but building a bond with him in such a short period of time is amazing. Really appreciate you Chris and looking forward to using your services again!”

“Barry took such great care of Bug. He was very intentional with walks and treat enrichment. He has great communication. I will definitely use him in the future.”

“So thankful for Vanessa. She took wonderful care of our boy, even provided unexpected medication for our puppy. She's very knowledgeable about pets and took care of Tom's physical and emotional needs. She's a caretaker who gets it and we will be using her services again.”

“We've sent our Goldendoodle pup to Irene about 15 times now over the past 3 months. That alone should indicate how great of a job Irene does. Our Dood absolutely loves going to her place, crying to be let out of the car when we reach her neighborhood and dragging me after I take him out of the car to her front door. Irene takes our pup out on frequent walks, has a yard out back, and hosts multiple dogs at the same time so that they have company when they are back home. She's super caring as well, even buying him a new harness when he chewed through his own. I will continue to use Irene for dogsitting multiple days per week and encourage you to do so as well.”

“We’ve used Juan several times and will continue to send our Lucy there when we can’t take her with us. He’s kind, quick to respond, and gives updates and pictures.”

“Taro had a wonder time at their home. I call it his lil spa day cause he doesn't have a backyard at home. Maria is very accommodating and a delight to have stayed with.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Oak Hills
I have taken two long trips this Fall and left my 10-month old puppy with Anupama and her family. I missed him so much but Anu is such a great communicator and sends such great pictures and updates, I felt sure he was having a great time and receiving so much love and attention. She’s the best!

Mo was amazing with our golden retriever puppy! She sent so many updates that let us know our dog was in great hands. Our puppy is high energy and Mo took her on a walk every day and let her play around with her dogs. Our puppy had the best 4 nights with her and we will definitely use her again!

Heather was fantastic and made our dog feel at home during our two week trip. She was easy to connect with and arrange a pre-visit and she sent regular updates. Our dog doesn't like to be away from his family but he seemed to be more relaxed with Heather, her dog, and family. We will book with her any again whenever we need to travel without the pup.

Jane and Justin took such wonderful care of our elderly dog. I could tell she was happy and comfortable throughout the entire stay. I am so appreciative of their communication and attentiveness. I would recommend them to anyone and will certainly be booking again!

Kaylee and Nate were wonderful hosts for my pup! She seemed to settle in quickly, and Kaylee kept me updated on her activities and eating/sleeping habits. My pup was treated like a princess, and she loved cuddling with Kaylee on the couch and bed. Kaylee's dogs are both very sweet and put up with my diva without too much complaint, I gather. Kaylee was very attentive to my dog's medical needs and treated her with gentle kindness. Highly recommend these folks!!!

I am so grateful to have found Hannah, Spencer and their lovely pup Hazel to watch Hero when we are traveling. It was his second stay with this lovely family. I received regular updates and pictures from them which really helped me enjoy my vacation. Hero loves being with Hazel and always comes back happy and healthy. Thank you for loving Hero like your own and I sure hope that Hero gets to be with you again on our next vacation!
This is our 2nd time booking Jo Lynn and David to dog-sit for us. We had a fantastic experience! They took excellent care of Griffen, kept us updated with photos and messages, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely trust them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Nicole rescued our weekend when our planned dog-sitter bailed. She has a loving home and is great with both dogs and cats; really top-notch care -- and GREAT photos from the visit! Our Ruby Roo had a fantastic time, came home exhausted (always a good sign) and with a big smile on her face. Thanks again, Nicole!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Oak Hills home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Oak Hills.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Oak Hills sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OR ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
