About: I have always had dogs in my life. My parents chose our first dog, a blue healer, after their honeymoon. I was three. Skeeter and I would tromp through the woods often. We moved to the Middle East when I was 9, and we had to give her to another family, but when we returned, we were contacted by the family: they were moving and wondered if we would like her back. It was a very happy reunion. She passed away when I was 18. In my third year of college, I decided to get a dog of my own. It was a dumb idea because I didn't have the forethought to think about how being a dogowner would limit my housing options over the next 10 years. Baloo was a German shepherd mix. He was a rescue from a Native American reservation in AZ, what we call a "res dog". He and I had several adventures over the decade I could call him mine. He passed away a little over two years ago, and I still miss him now. These days, I am mom to Benedict and Tigerlily. Benny is a sweet old rescue from California. He is likely part pitbull, and part sharpei. He's a sweetheart, super chill with my kids, and loves to walk the trails behind my house. Tigerlily Is a baby baby. The two of them are inseparable. I work from home and have my kids 3-5 nights / week. We love all the dogs and love to take them on walks through the woods and to the park. I provide a chill space where dogs feel like they can relax and trust that someone will come along soon to scritch their ears. I have a great neighborhood for walking and a large unfenced backyard.

About: I have experience caring for cats and dogs of all ages, sizes, and energy levels. Whether your pet needs energetic playtime, a 10 mile run, relaxing companionship, or attentive care and routine, I’m happy to provide a safe and comfortable experience while you’re away. I'm currently working part-time, so I have plenty of time to visit and play with your pets! I'm available at most times, 7 days a week. I care for pets by following their usual routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication, and any special instructions. In my home, I provide a safe, supervised environment that is clean and has plenty of open space. In a client’s home, I make sure pets feel comfortable in their familiar surroundings while keeping their space clean and secure. I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can see that your pet is happy and well cared for!

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, goats, chickens, pigs, peacocks. You name it. I’ve been a huge fan of animals since I can remember. I’m super active outside and love taking pups out on hikes or walks. My last dog had to take meds so I’m also extra sensitive to pups that may need more present care. I’ve dog sat and house sat for many years before and just recently decided to give rover a try. I’m also a photographer so pics of your sweet pea will be guaranteed! I’m a photographer so my schedule varies. Sometimes I’m on a shoot or at home editing. I work part time at a restaurant wed-Friday so am unavailable those evenings. I am generous with my love with pets if they want that. If they are shy I will absolutely listen to what they need and let them warm up to me at their own pace. About: I grew up with large dogs and cats and have a beloved rescue cat now. As a young person, I housesat, babysat, and took care of animals throughout my neighborhood and my parents’ friend group. I am used to taking care of my family’s dogs when they are out of town. All I need is an introduction and instructions. I am a kind, mature, and responsible person -- a homeowner myself -- and would be happy to take extra care with simple tasks (like collecting mail and watering plants) while I’m checking on your animals. Let me know how I can help and provide peace of mind while you are away! I am currently working part-time from home and finishing a graduate program at UVA so I have a flexible schedule. I prefer early morning and evening checkins/walks (in case I do need to go into work). I can be available to stay overnight if needed. In my client's home, I really want to provide as much continuity as possible. That means emotionally supporting and reassuring your animals and maintaining their schedules and habits with food and medication. It also means fun, a chance for your companions to experience a new friendly face in a safe environment. In my home: My cat is a rescue that came out of a very difficult situation. She is wonderful and we're so proud of how far she has come from the terrified animal we first adopted. I do not feel that she would welcome other animals into our home at this time, however.

I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and needs so they feel comfortable and safe while you’re away. I’m experienced with puppies who need consistency, potty breaks, playtime, and basic routine reinforcement, as well as senior pets who may need a gentler pace, extra patience, medication support, or additional comfort. I also provide regular updates and photos so pet parents always know their furry family members are happy and well cared for. I’m able to help out on Monday-Friday or Saturdays and Sundays. For more than 20 years, I’ve cared for my own dogs as well as pets belonging to friends, family, and clients. I’ve worked with puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs, and I’m comfortable following detailed feeding routines, giving oral medications, and caring for anxious or reactive dogs. Since I have a reactive dog of my own, I understand the importance of reading body language, respecting boundaries, and helping dogs feel safe instead of overwhelmed. Most mornings start with several miles on the trail or around the neighborhood with my own dogs, so active dogs who enjoy getting outside fit naturally into my routine. At the same time, I’m just as happy taking things slow with a senior dog who would rather wander, sniff, and enjoy a quiet walk. Most mornings you’ll find me outside before the heat sets in. I walk my own dogs every day, spend a lot of time hiking local trails, and genuinely enjoy being outdoors. Adding another walk or checking in on someone else’s pet doesn’t feel like work to me. It’s just part of a life I already love. I’m pretty low-key by nature, so I don’t rush through visits or watch the clock. If your dog wants to sniff every blade of grass, we’ll sniff. If your cat would rather sit quietly while I read a book than play, that’s okay too. I believe every animal has its own personality, and I try to meet them where they are instead of expecting them to fit into my routine. My goal is simple: when you come home, your pet has been well cared for, and you don’t have to wonder if they were just another stop on someone’s schedule. Whether I’m caring for your pet in my home or yours, I try to keep life as normal as possible. I stick closely to the routine you’ve already established because consistency helps pets feel secure. Meals happen when they’re used to eating, walks happen on their schedule, and medications are given exactly as instructed. I don’t believe every dog needs the same approach. Some want to play nonstop, some just want to sniff every inch of the yard, and some are happiest curled up beside you. I pay attention to what each pet is telling me and let them settle in at their own pace. I also know how reassuring updates can be when you’re away. I’ll send photos and let you know how your pet is doing, so you can enjoy your trip without wondering if everything is okay.
