Patrick is an excellent communicator, which given primary very busy schedule. I always appreciate as I know my dog is getting great care! I have noticed such a big difference in Ella‘s demeanor, she is so much calmer when I get home, and I can’t help but love the candid photos and quit that Patrick sent as update! We are so thankful to have found you, Patrick!

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 11 years, starting when I adopted my first pup. Since then, I’ve welcomed multiple rescue dogs into my home, each with their own unique personality and needs. Today, I share life with 3 wonderful dogs — two of them seniors — along with 3 cats and a pair of friendly rats, so I’m experienced in multi-pet households. I have hands-on experience with dogs of all ages, breeds, and temperaments — from energetic puppies who need training reinforcement to senior dogs who move at a gentler pace. I’m comfortable with large and small breeds, administering medications, and following specific feeding and care routines. Whether your dog needs daily walks, drop-in visits, or in-home pet sitting, I’ll make sure they feel safe, loved, and cared for. My goal is to give you peace of mind while providing your dog with the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve. If you’re looking for a reliable, trustworthy dog sitter and walker, I’d love to meet your pup and become their new favorite friend. I work from home full-time, which means I have a very flexible schedule and can easily accommodate your pet’s routine. Whether your dog needs a midday walk, your cat prefers morning playtime, or your senior pet requires multiple short visits throughout the day, I can be there when they need me. Because I’m home most of the day, I’m able to provide plenty of attention, regular check-ins, and care tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Weekdays, weekends, and even last-minute requests are often possible — just reach out and I’ll do my best to make it work. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. When caring for pets in their own home, I follow your instructions closely to maintain their normal routine and minimize stress. I’ll make sure doors, gates, and enclosures are secure at all times, keep a close eye during walks or play, and ensure fresh water and a safe environment before I leave. I respect your home as much as I respect your pets — I’m mindful of cleanliness, careful with your belongings, and always lock up securely when I go. I’m comfortable handling keys, access codes, and any special instructions for alarms or entry. With years of hands-on experience and a deep love for animals, you can feel confident that your pets are in safe, caring, and trustworthy hands while you’re away.

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments, from energetic puppies to sweet senior dogs who need a little extra patience and support. I’m comfortable with large breeds, high-energy dogs, and those who may need a slower, calmer approach. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, loved, and right at home while you’re away. I have experience reinforcing basic training like leash manners, crate training, and simple commands such as sit, stay, and recall. For puppies, I focus on consistency and positive reinforcement to help maintain the routines you’ve worked hard to establish. For senior dogs, I provide gentle care, slower-paced walks, and close attention to comfort and mobility needs. What Sets Me Apart What makes me different is the level of attention and communication I provide. I treat every pet like family, not just a booking. You can expect regular updates, photos, and honest communication so you always know how your pet is doing. I’m dependable, patient, and detail-oriented. I carefully follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and any special routines your pet relies on. Whether your dog needs extra exercise, extra structure, or extra cuddles, I adjust my care to fit their personality and needs. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. 🐾 I work from home and I am available any day of the week. I can do walks or drop in visits anytime of the day. I am flexible. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Whether caring for pets in my home or yours, I focus on creating a calm, structured, and secure environment where they can relax and feel at ease. In My Home: I provide a clean, pet-safe space free of hazards, with plenty of room to rest and play. Pets are always supervised, and introductions (if applicable) are done slowly and carefully. I follow your dog’s normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, crate use, walk times, and bedtime habits to reduce stress and keep things consistent. Fresh water is always available, and I monitor behavior closely to ensure they’re comfortable and adjusting well. In Your Home (Drop-Ins/House Sitting): I respect your space and maintain your pet’s routine exactly as instructed. I ensure doors, gates, and crates are securely closed, leashes are properly fitted before walks, and pets are never left unattended in unsafe situations. After each visit, I double-check that everything is locked and secure. You’ll receive regular updates and photos for peace of mind. I’m attentive, detail-oriented, and proactive. If something seems off, changes in appetite, behavior, or energy; I communicate immediately. My goal is for you to feel completely confident that your pet is safe, cared for, and genuinely loved while you’re away.

About: Hi! My name is Scarlet and I’ve owned and cared for dogs, cats, sheep, horses, chickens etc. and would be willing to learn to care for whatever animal you might have! I have a real passion and love for animals and have had experience volunteering and working at animal shelters where I’d clean, walk, and play with the dogs and cats. I’ve handled dogs and cats of all different sizes and personalities and would love to get to know and take care of your fur babies! I’m willing to adhere to any special requirements or schedules you might have for your pet in order to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I’m currently a pre vet student and have gained basic medical knowledge working in clinics and would be willing to give medications as needed! Please contact me if you need someone to walk, check up on, or pet sit for your furry friend! I am very flexible when it comes to caring for your pets! I can usually make myself available most times of day and night and will do whatever I can to make my schedule work for you! I make sure to follow strict rules when it comes to letting dogs out to potty, walks etc. Whether it’s a certain gate that needs to stay closed or your animal doesn’t do well with other dogs, I’ll follow any specific instructions you might have to insure your animals safety. I also know cats can be a little shy and I never take it personally! It’s my motto to let them warm up to me at their own pace, which has worked in my favor, winning over some very shy cats so far!

About: I've had my own dog for 10 years, and I grew up in a home with four cats, so animals have always been an important part of my life. I genuinely love caring for them and making sure they feel happy, comfortable, and cared for. I know every animal has their own personality, routines, and needs, and I believe in meeting them where they are. Whether they want lots of attention and playtime or need a little more space and patience, I'll respect what makes them feel most comfortable. I'm very particular about who I trust with my own dog when I'm away, so I understand how big of a deal it can be to leave your pet in someone else's care. I want you to feel confident knowing that I'll treat your animals with the same love, patience, and attention I'd want someone to give my own. Most importantly, I'll do my best to make sure they feel safe, loved, and happy while you're away. I work for myself doing graphic design and marketing for my clients, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I’m able to plan my workday around pet care and can be flexible with visits, walks, feeding times, and your pet’s usual routine. I want to make sure your animal gets the care and attention they need while you’re away! I will always follow the instructions you provide and do my best to keep your pet's normal routine consistent while you're away. I want them to feel comfortable, safe, and at ease in their own environment. I know from my own dog how important routine can be. He has particular feeding and walking times and can get thrown off when his schedule changes. I understand that your pet may have their own routines, preferences, and quirks too! I'll take the time to learn those and care for them the way they're used to, so life can feel as normal and comfortable as possible while their parent(s) are away.

I also have experience with dogs with disabilities! I am intentional in my care for animals and will make sure they are well cared for and loved during our time together I am flexible about caring for pets in my home or yours - just ask :) I generally prefer watching animals in their own home for their comfort if possible I work for a local nonprofit and am happy to chat with you about how to make my schedule compatible with your pets’. About: *PLEASE READ* For House Sitting visits my dog Bucky will need to accompany me while im living nomadically. Feel free to ask any questions or concerns you might have about this and please take a moment to view some of the photos in my profile and read some reviews to get a better idea of the type of work we do with all creatures great and small! Every job I've done so far he has been with me with no issues. Meeting Bucky will undoubtedly answer some more difficult questions you might have about the quality of my pet care. Dogs are social animals and as humans we tend to spend so much time training them to be good we can forget we are the architects of their entire reality and to take time to just let them just be dogs. They're loud messy and impulsive. When we choose patience over frustration and offer comfort to a creature that cannot speak our language I feel that is engaging in the highest form of stewardship. A true non transactional act of service. I am currently living nomadically as a way to take my dog Bucky on his retirement journey of sorts. He DOES NOT have to participate in any tasks you hire me for but you can always opt in to that for free. **Please note that I cannot exclude my dog for over night stays at your location. Only walks and check-ins ect. My nomadic lifestyle is very much to your benefit, as it gives me a flexible schedule and the time and ability to focus on what you and your pets need. If you need a pet sitter for overnight or long-term care but aren't sure about having someone live in your home, that's fine! I just find a place to park. I am genuinely signed up for this because I would love to do it. All of it. Help me with Bucky's retirement journey by letting me help you take good care of your pets!

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Norfolk. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Report cards require photos and can include a map of the walking route , total walk time, poop and pee breaks, and distance traveled, so you know exactly where your dog has been walking in Norfolk.

Got specific details you'd like the dog walker to include? Message them in the app before your dog’s walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Norfolk. On Rover:

  • 96% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
