“Kevin was great! I got daily photos and could tell my pets were well cared for and comfortable with him. He’s a very considerate house guest too, everything was clean and tidy when I got home!”

About: I have watched dogs, cats, fish, almost everything you can think of. I love watching pets and want to make more out of it and be of help when I can! I’m able to fit pet care into my schedule by planning ahead and being flexible with visits and stays whenever possible. I keep my commitments organized so I can give each pet my full attention without rushing. I’m reliable with timing and communication, and I make sure pet care is a priority when I’ve accepted a booking. Whether it’s drop-ins, feeding, litter box care, or playtime, I work to make my availability consistent and dependable so your pets are cared for when they need it most. Your pet’s safety and your trust are my top priorities. I take time to follow all care instructions carefully, keep a close eye on each pet, and make sure their environment stays clean, calm, and secure. I’m attentive to details like feeding routines, litter box care, behavior changes, and comfort levels so nothing gets missed. I also believe in clear communication, so you’ll receive updates and reassurance while you’re away. My goal is to give you peace of mind knowing your pets are safe, loved, and well cared for at all times.
“Autumn was great with our 3 (somewhat sensitive ;) pups). Great communication throughout her visit. Highly recommend if you are looking for someone trustworthy to look after your pets. Thanks Autumn!”

“Leah has done a great job for us. This is the second time Leah has sat for us. She is a pleasure to work with and takes good care of our dogs. She leaves our house very clean and the dogs are happy with her!”

“Sydnee Took great care of our dogs and was easy to work with. She was easy to reach by text or phone and very responsive. She is obviously an animal lover and send us pictures of the dogs while we were gone.”

About: I have plenty of pup care from family, friends and fur babies of my own. I can do anything your baby needs and more. From only a few weeks old to an old doggo. My schedules are super flexible whatever your pup or kitty needs I can make happen for them. I am a SAHM with 2 kiddos sometimes they may need to tag along. I wake up early most days and take my pup out for a potty break and following that I feed her. Depending how busy the day is I will take her to the park or if I am watching other pets I will take them on a super long walk.
“Kaya was amazing and took care of our senior dog last minute and did such a great job! We 100% would use her again! She kept us updated and sent pictures while we were away, which was so nice.”

“I engaged Katherine for a two-day, one night stay, rather last minute. She was terrific -- very communicative and punctual, attentive to my dog, took her on long walks, sent lots of pics. I would certainly hire her again.”

“Emily was the best sitter we could have asked for! We have several animals; both dogs and cats, some with medication needs. She didn’t hesitate when we explained everything, and was more than up to the task! Our 20 year old cat, Goober, had especially specific instructions (including IV fluids), and Emily did every step we asked for, and went above and beyond. She understood how difficult it was to leave Goober at this point in his life (end stage renal disease) and made making him as comfortable as possible at all points in time a huge priority. She communicated frequently, sent tons of pictures, and made our wedding time completely peaceful knowing everyone was taken care of. Our home was completely perfect getting back to and she left a very sweet “just married” card for us. She will be our go-to for all of our future house-sits.”

“Vanessa was great with Maddie. She was upfront about her schedule and let me know any changes during the stay. Maddie is very easy going and easy to adjust to other people's schedules, so I had absolutely no issues with Vanessa's hours as long as she took great care of Maddie, which she did. She sent daily comments and pics on how things were going. It was a huge bonus that she was in close proximity to our house, which is rare. I highly recommend Vanessa and will use her again if needed without any hesitation.”

“Scarlet, was very responsible, responsive, and trustworthy! She gave us updates throughout or trip; and never once were we worried about our dogs or home. We would most definitely recommend her if you are looking for a pet sitter :).”

“This was my first time using Erika and she was great! She was very communicative and asked clarifying questions, as Ginger was anxious from the wind and unknown reasons. Erika is very caring and I can tell she loves animals. Ginger was happy and healthy when I came home and my house was clean and well cared for!”

About: Hello!!! I’m Niki and I’ve been doing pet care, paid and unpaid for probably my whole life! I’ve always been an animal lover. So before I started my corporate job, I signed up for a different pet sitting app, which turned into traveling the world to care for pets. I have cared for animals in Costa Rica, England, France, Canada and all over the states. And have even been flown back to Canada and England multiple times for repeat pet sitting visits. When I started working corporate, I stopped doing it for a while. But I always miss caring for a sweet animal. Now that I have a remote corporate position, my work allows me deep pockets of time between meetings throughout the day, which gives me more time! I am signing back up to merge my two goals, caring for animals while making a little extra money for help me go to a destination wedding at the end of the year. Since it’s a destination wedding I’m also pretty determined to get in shape, so if you have an active animal that needs a good walk, I am your girl! I’m happy to provide references and additional photos as well. Please reach out if you have any questions at all! Since I work remotely I have a lot of time between meetings and I love to get outside as well. I’m fully off work by 4 pm but I will have multiple hours free during the day as well. I have my own car of course and it’s fully available to bring pets anywhere too! I treat every animal as if it were my own baby. With love and respect, I will ensure they feel safe and cared for but I have zero issues with excitement and fun. I’m pretty active and my parents own a 8 month old Doberman and previously owned Malinois… so I know crazy and how to handle it as well. Whatever direction or instruction I’m given I will follow :)
“One of the best! So kind and caring, I felt zero worries with Amanda taking care of our dogs and our home. We were sent photos and updates daily, which we loved, and could tell the pups were tired and happy when we got back from our trip! Amanda is 10/10!!”

“Allison stayed with my dogs for a few days and showed them so much love and attention. She kept me informed with updates while I was away, which meant a lot to me. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals, and my dogs seemed very comfortable with her.”

“Leah was amazing! She saved the day when our other Rover sitter cancelled less than 48 hours before our trip. She even made time to come meet us and the dogs on such short notice. This was our first time using Rover and leaving our girls with anyone other than close family but Leah did not disappoint. She communicated well and sent lots of updates and pictures/videos which put our minds at ease. She left our home clean and everything was in order when we returned. We are so thankful to have found her!”

“I’ve been working with Jessica for years and my dogs always thrive under her care! I have two rescues who are very skittish, but she is great with them. She’s even helped them progress on things they struggle with when I go out of town! She’s the best.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Norfolk walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Norfolk maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Norfolk choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
