About: I’ve cared for animals for most of my life and have always been someone friends and family trust with their pets. I’m calm, patient, and attentive, and I take the time to understand each animal’s personality and needs. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, and maintaining routines so pets feel safe and secure while you’re away. Whether a pet is energetic, anxious, or more independent, I adjust my approach to what works best for them. I understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, and I aim to provide dependable, gentle care every time. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to give pets consistent attention and care throughout the day. I’m available for drop-ins, walks, and house sitting, and I pride myself on being as reliable and communicative as possible. I’m happy to work with your pet’s routine and can adjust timing as needed to help them feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I focus on creating a calm, safe, and respectful environment for every pet. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding routines, medications if needed, and any specific preferences your pet has. I’m attentive to behavior and body language, especially with shy or anxious animals, and I always prioritize their comfort and safety. I also respect your home and space, keeping things clean and secure while you’re away. I’m happy to provide updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands!
“This was our second time having Bethany watch our two spoiled dogs. She was very responsive, always kept us in the loop. The house was clean and the dogs were well taken care of by the time we returned. We look forward to other future opportunities to have her over and would recommend her to anyone looking for a dog and house sitter. Very satisfied with her services :)”

“Cyndi was an amazing sitter for our Sprinkles. We came home to her being as happy and cared for as if we were at home with her the whole time. She kept us up to date with pictures and check-ins and we felt comfortable with our time away. I highly recommend her for bookings and look forward to booking with her in the future.”

“We really liked Katie and our dog, Skyy, seemed to like her too. During our first meeting, she was friendly, engaged and asked the right questions. Before and while house/dog sitting for us, she was communicative which gives owners confidence. And during her stay, she sent us pictures of Skyy. She is a bright young lady and we felt the house and dog were in good hands!”

“This is the second time that Daisy has looked after our elderly husky. Once again, we were extremely happy by the standard of care she provided while we were gone for the day. Daisy was friendly, respectful of our home and attentive to our requests, regarding dog care. When we returned, it was clear our dog had felt very comfortable with Daisy. We very much look forward to the next time she looks after our pup. Thank you Daisy! 😊”

About: I've always loved taking care of animals. When I was little I had big plans of having a shelter for dogs, cats and horses. I had even planned out the cost. Two neighborhood cats took shelter in our home and garage had three litters with us, that had further sparked my young passion for pet care. Later in life I had taken care of neighbors and families pets. I also worked with and assisted a woman with a dog grooming service (and the occasional cat) which taught me a lot more about animal temperament and handling. I adore animals and would be honored to give your fuzzy friends my best care! I work part time at TJ Max I get my work schedule a week ahead and normally im scheduled for 1 to 2 days for 4 hour shifts. If I were to pet sit for you I would only need be away for 5 hours at a time if I'm shecduled (considering drive time). I am starting school this fall working toward becoming a nurse, so being able to work with animals in the meantime is a blessing. Through the week I care for my cat and my aunts dog. my kitty gets soup time nightly (wet food) and my aunts dog takes two walks a day. In my experience every animal has their own routine they need to feel comfortable, and I am happy to learn and apply it to give the best care possible!

About: 15 years of experience with dog sitting/walking. Discount may be give to repeat customers. I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, and some Russian in case you have limited English and feel comfortable using one of those. I have taken care of old dogs, puppies, dogs small, large, and In between too. I’m extremely responsible with ensuring your pet receives their medication as needed, if needed. I love to walk, but tailor my services to your dogs needs. Want me to have them socialize with my dog, done. Want me to keep the dogs separate, I can do that too. Message me and let me know what you need! Something that separates me from others: I understand some dogs are just vocal and not aggressive. I have experience sitting extremely vocal dogs who most people would think are aggressive, but really they just like to bark. Please disclose if your dog is not good around children when booking! Thank you and I’m looking forward to meeting you and your dog(s). I don’t discriminate based on gender, gender expression, religion, age, sexual orientation, race, or for any other reason. I welcome and respect all people and dogs Stay at home mom with a dog of my own, this allows me to adjust my daily schedule to your pets needs. I go on daily walks when it isn’t too hot. I have a fenced yard and a dog for your dog to socialize, but also have room to keep them separate if preferred. Dogs are fed as much and as often as requested by owner along with the amount of potty breaks. If the pet is house trained they are also allowed to be in the home. I love to give dogs treats so they can expect treats when they are over if approved by you!
“Margerita was great with our two dogs. She made sure they both got the exercise they needed and were well taken care of. She stayed in communication with us and sent pictures. Our one dog can be anxious and timid. Margerita helped him feel comfortable. We will definitely rebook her.”

Thank you for reading and I hope to care for your fur baby soon! :) I just graduated (class of 2025) and am looking forward to making this my part time job during this gap year, and hopefully in the long run! I love animals/pets and helping others, and am ready to dedicate my time to this important work for you and your pets included! I am prepared to learn your pets needs no matter how simple or complex they are- my top concern is your pets happiness and health! I promise any instructions discussed and or left for your pets and home will be followed to a T! “I'm so happy that I found Amanda! She handled my three doggies with ease and on short notice. It's no small thing having a stranger sleep in your house, but I felt at ease with Amanda. She was a perfect house guest, and I came home to three calm and happy dogs.”

“Marissa was nothing short of exceptional. She watched our three cats and dog for one week. She comes with an expertise regarding animal care and will go above and beyond for your pets. Our border collie is shy and timid around everyone he meets. By the end of the week he was interacting with her via videos she would send us with his tail wagging. We are definitely using Marissa again in the future. She treated our home with respect and was extremely thorough with the direction we left.”

Margerita was great with our two dogs. She made sure they both got the exercise they needed and were well taken care of. She stayed in communication with us and sent pictures. Our one dog can be anxious and timid. Margerita helped him feel comfortable. We will definitely rebook her.

Barbara was absolutely amazing with our 3 dogs! She kept in constant communication with us while we were away and made us feel so at ease. She asks great questions to make sure your fur babies are well taken care of and comfortable. I would have her stay with them in an instant and look forward to having her back. Thank you for being so wonderful, Barbara!

Luna did an amazing job staying and sitting for our senior dog who needs medications twice a day and can be a bit nervous/high strung. Within minutes of being in our home, our dog was snuggled next to her and licking her hand. We are so grateful to have found Luna and have already reached out to rebook!

FAQs for House Sitting - Modesto
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Modesto on Rover is $37.32 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 423 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Modesto. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Modesto walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Modesto maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Modesto choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Modesto. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
