“Maria did a phenomenal job taking care of our two fur baby's. Not only did she do all the responsibilities involved with taking care of them, she also kept our home as clean as it was the day we left. Maria reassured us plenty of times throughout the day every day we were gone, sending us pictures, videos, and text messages of how our Husky and Australian Sheppard have been. Maria will be our number one choice if we were to require dog sitting services again. If you have any doubts, I hope that this review relieves the majority of them, we highly recommend her.”

“Rebecca is wonderful. She is extremely conscientious and personable. The dogs both liked her immediately. My Aussie is a picky boy so this is saying something! I felt comfortable with Rebecca staying at my house and confident my dogs were safe. My dogs are around 60 and 50lbs. I will be calling on her again!”

“Marissa was so wonderful! Punctual, honest and very caring. She went above and beyond for both our dog and cat. They were well taken care of and we hope to hire her again in the future.”

About: Hi, I’m Ethan! I’m 19 and I’m ready to make sure your pets are happy, healthy, and entertained under my care! I have had pets of my own since I was young and love animals. I am most experienced in cat and dog care (all ages), but can care for smaller animals as well! I am always ready and willing to learn your pet’s exact needs and wants in order to fulfill them. Though I have my own pets I am well experienced in taking care of other people’s as well! I have been providing pet and house care services for friends and family since my pre teen years- it’s something I’m passionate about! Thank you for reading and I hope to care for your fur baby soon! :) I just graduated (class of 2025) and am looking forward to making this my part time job during this gap year, and hopefully in the long run! I love animals/pets and helping others, and am ready to dedicate my time to this important work for you and your pets included! I am prepared to learn your pets needs no matter how simple or complex they are- my top concern is your pets happiness and health! I promise any instructions discussed and or left for your pets and home will be followed to a T! This includes pets who are particular about how things are done, such as walks, meal time, Potty breaks, and etc (such as my own pets are- lol!) I understand that being welcomed into somebody’s home and taking care of their fur babies is a privilege.
“Payton is great! We booked her for a house sitting for our dog and she took wonderful care of our place and our girl! She is very kind and responsible, and responsive! Would highly recommend Payton to anyone!”

“Makayla so obviously loves animals! Our 11 month old Lab “puppy” is crazy about her and could care less when my husband and I leave. I don’t need to worry at all while we’re away, plus we get photos and updates too. She’s intelligent, caring and personable. We will most definitely call on her again. Jan &Tex Billings”

“Bethany has taken care of my now 17 year old pup several times. She is always professional. My dog is always happy when I come home. I know that she is in good hands when Bethany stays.”

“Regina is amazing. She took amazing care of my sweet senior pup Bodie. She was patient with him as he is a little stubborn on walks with new people. She left my apartment sparkly clean and was super communicative. I’m so glad I found Regina and I hope to have her watch Bodie again soon. Highly recommended.”

About: I love animals and would love to help you watch yours if you're out or take them on walks for you! I had a German-Shorthaired Pointer/Labrador mix for 11 years, he passed away recently but brought years of joy and experience with a highly-energetic dog. I recently got my first cat, and I have lived with several other dogs and cats. I do not have any professional experience grooming or dealing with animals, but I am more than willing to help out with letting dogs out, taking them on walks, etc. I definitely have plenty of experience walking dogs because of my little guy. I look forward to hearing from you soon! I currently have quite open availability, almost any day and time should work with some notice, and I will try to make it work regardless. I have a fenced-in yard where a dog can go outside/play fetch. I have 1 cat, but he can be kept in a separate area of the house if preferred.
About: the amazing trust and respect a dog can have for a human life. i always make it a lifestyle to see dogs the way they see us. to understand them. the way they understand us. i had lived with dogs and cats all my life. nothing beats a bond and companionship a dog can bring into this life. Providing and sharing a home is one of them many little things. that we can do for them. And I would love to bring that to other dogs. maintains a balance. Just healthy habits. go a lot way. feeding and being a home giver to pets and making sure their needs are met. While giving a loving home. Finding routine and habits are essential to what works for you and the pets. seeing what the dog/cat is most comfortable in. having a read on body language and going forward with it. a lot of slow process in the beginning but eventually caring and showing empathy for whatever they need in any situation.

“I am so glad I found Aarón! He took amazing care of my pets while I was on a 3 day work trip. Having him sit while I was away totally eased my mind and took away the anxiety I had about who would care as much for my fur babies as I would while I was gone. He totally exceeded my expectations on house and pet care and my pets love him.”

About: I've had dogs my entire life and at this moment I have 2 friendly dogs; a 13 year old terrier mix and a 2 year old mini pitcher. I have a quiet clean (not scrubbed just cozy) home. Dogs are able to sit on couch, sleep with me in my king bed, have snack breaks and go in the backyard for potty breaks and to play fetch. My fenced backyard has a large grass area and a covered patio, we spend lots of time hanging out there on nicer days. I own my home in a nicer neighborhood since 2012. I'm super casual and easy going with a drug, smoke and alcohol free home. Your dogs will be spoiled! Dogs have lots of indoor and outdoor play time. If dogs have thier own dog food, I'll put the other dogs outside to make sure they get thier meal times otherwise I have plenty of blue buffalo dog food I mix with Purina. A morning potty out back while I prepare and separate dog bowls then they can all come in unless a dog is on a special diet then ill feed them separately. My backyard is fenced with locked gates. They get treats throughout the day and a dinner before bed. Then if they want to sleep on the bed with me they can otherwise there's thick blankets on the floor near me.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Salida
This was Maria’s third visit but this time she was sitting then for a whole day. She was amazing and followed all instructions and truly cared for the dogs. She made sure they were comfortable, loved and happy. She was in constant communication with me as she knew how nervous I was! Truly did an amazing job with taking care of the kids.

Loveli's name is a great description to her character, she is very Lovely!! I could not be more pleased with the care Loveli provided for my 9 year old Jack Russell, Annie. I was going to be out of the country for two weeks and was very nervous about leaving. Three weeks prior to my trip, Annie was diagnosed with lymphoma and a week later suffered a spinal cord injury. She was on three different medications and needed constant care with her mobility. Loveli and Annie instantly bonded. Within a week Annie was walking on her own. I credit Loveli's passionate care for how well Annie recovered. We're still dealing with her cancer but she is doing remarkable. Both Annie and I have bonded with a very special person.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Salida walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Salida maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Salida choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
