About: I’ve cared for dogs of all kinds for about 30 yrs, helping neighbors, friends, and family with walking, feeding, bathing, and daily routines. I’m calm, patient, and playful, and I’m comfortable supporting puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, and high‑energy breeds. I focus on keeping pets relaxed, happy, and safe while following each dog’s unique routine. I focus on creating a safe, calm environment where pets feel secure and understood. I follow each dog’s routine closely, use gentle handling, and keep spaces clean and hazard‑free. Whether in my home or a client’s, I prioritize trust, comfort, and consistent care so every pet feels relaxed and protected. In your home, I keep your pet’s routine steady, calm, and familiar. I follow your instructions closely, maintain a clean and safe environment, and use gentle, consistent handling. I make sure doors, gates, and feeding areas stay secure, and I give your pet relaxed, playful attention so they feel comfortable and protected while you’re away.

“After our previous house/pet sitter moved away, we were nervous to have a new person caring for our 3 dogs and 1 cat. One of our dogs can be quite vocal and barks a lot at strangers, but Maria did a great job reassuring us that she was excited to care for our pets and win our bark-y dog over. Maria stayed overnight in our home with the animals and was great about communicating with us about how our dogs and cat were doing. She was also able to get our bark-y dog to be comfortable and calm quickly after we left which was a huge relief to us! We received several pictures throughout our trip, our animals were safe and taken care of, and the house was just as we left it. Maria is very friendly, kind, and responsible. I would recommend Maria to anyone looking for a house/pet sitter.”

About: I’ve taken care of puppies, kittens dogs and cats of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors friends and family have relied on me to check in, feed and play with their pets. I am currently working part time, so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups and or cats. I am available to care for your pet or pets on weekends, weekdays and holidays. I cannot currently board animals at my home due to various reasons. I will be sure to offer that if I can in the future. Thank you.
“Rebecca is wonderful. She is extremely conscientious and personable. The dogs both liked her immediately. My Aussie is a picky boy so this is saying something! I felt comfortable with Rebecca staying at my house and confident my dogs were safe. My dogs are around 60 and 50lbs. I will be calling on her again!”

About: I’ve been caring for pets for over 15 years and have experience with both dogs and cats. I understand that every pet is different, and I’m patient, attentive, and happy to follow their individual routines. Whether they need walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or simply some company, I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own. I am a fourth grade teacher so my schedule for work is 7:00am-3:00pm. I am available after work for daily walks. If you need a house sitter I would be away for those hours. I love to play with pets and take them on walks around the neighborhood. I also love to snuggle if they’re up for it! I love seeing animals different personalities.
About: I've had dogs my entire life and at this moment I have 2 friendly dogs; a 13 year old terrier mix and a 2 year old mini pitcher. I have a quiet clean (not scrubbed just cozy) home. Dogs are able to sit on couch, sleep with me in my king bed, have snack breaks and go in the backyard for potty breaks and to play fetch. My fenced backyard has a large grass area and a covered patio, we spend lots of time hanging out there on nicer days. I own my home in a nicer neighborhood since 2012. I'm super casual and easy going with a drug, smoke and alcohol free home. Your dogs will be spoiled! Dogs have lots of indoor and outdoor play time. If dogs have thier own dog food, I'll put the other dogs outside to make sure they get thier meal times otherwise I have plenty of blue buffalo dog food I mix with Purina. A morning potty out back while I prepare and separate dog bowls then they can all come in unless a dog is on a special diet then ill feed them separately. My backyard is fenced with locked gates. They get treats throughout the day and a dinner before bed. Then if they want to sleep on the bed with me they can otherwise there's thick blankets on the floor near me.
“From the moment Bethany came over for the meet and greet, I knew that she would be a great person to look after our dogs. She has a very genuine and caring heart! She is super friendly and did a great job taking care of our dogs and looking over the house when were out of town. Everything was nice and clean when we came home, and the dogs were given lots of love while we were gone. We would definitely use her again in the future. Very down to earth and trustworthy.”

“Regina was great and easy to work with. We contacted her a little last minute and she was very responsive. She also kept is updated on how our dogs were doing through the weekend.”

“Makayla so obviously loves animals! Our 11 month old Lab “puppy” is crazy about her and could care less when my husband and I leave. I don’t need to worry at all while we’re away, plus we get photos and updates too. She’s intelligent, caring and personable. We will most definitely call on her again. Jan &Tex Billings”

About: I grew up on a small farm, and from as young as I could remember, I was always the “Animal Wrangler”, and main caretaker for my friends’ and family's pets, anytime I would visit. I started pet sitting more professionally in 2012, beginning Team Max as an All-In-One, Pet/House/Child Sitter, with Cleaning, Transportation, and General Task Assistance available, as additional services. I’ve worked with a wide variety of animals, from big to small, old, or wild, and most with special needs. (Only Spiders are off limits). I’m currently getting my degree in Animal Training, followed by a Vet Tech degree; so, soon I’ll have a brochure of training opportunities I can provide and more. I'm available 24/7 for short term and long term stays; including emergency visits, performing additional tasks, and providing grooming or training services during anytime of the year! I like to build a foundation of trust by meeting with my clients beforehand. Not only for us and the pets to feel safe and comfortable, but, I enjoy getting a walk-through of the house, learning how it functions, and talking through any concerns, prior to the first stay or visit.
“We had a wonderful experience with Maryann! She took such great care of Lucca and treated him like one of her own. She was attentive, caring, and made sure he was comfortable, happy, and well looked after the entire time. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such loving hands. We truly appreciate her kindness, reliability, and the genuine love she has for animals. We highly recommend Maryann to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate to care for their pets. Thank you, Maryann, for taking such amazing care of Lucca!”

Maria was wonderful! She took such great care of our two dogs and cat while we were out of town. She was very attentive and responsive to our messages and calls, which gave us so much peace of mind. She also handled giving one of our pets medication with no problem at all. When we got home, all three pets were happy, calm, and relaxed, which says everything. We felt completely comfortable knowing they were in good hands and would absolutely hire Maria again. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Salida walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Salida maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Salida choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Salida. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
