About: Iâve loved animals since I was young, always being known to be the person who asks âCan I pet your dog?â. Having grown up living with and partially helping to train my grandparentâs standard poodle puppy at age 9, I knew then that I wanted animals in my life forever. Through the years Iâve done fundraisers for local shelters, looked after and groomed family dogs, given pet care advice, and for the last four years have worked professionally as a kennel attendant. My job has always been a joy to me, and despite its stresses I always tell people that caring for animals is the best job I could ever ask for. Iâve been able to meet and work with pets of all different breeds, sizes, temperaments, and abilities; from blind/deaf dogs, senior dogs, aggressive dogs, puppies/kittens, diabetic dogs and cats, and so many more. Each of them provides an invaluable experiences that teaches me patience, compassion, and communication. Iâm now the proud owner of a 11 month old cat, Balrog, and of a 13 year old chihuahua, Mia. Though I am a full time student and a part time kennel attendant, I am able to be more flexible with my schedule over summer break. My current availability is as follows, Monday: Unavailable Tuesday: All day Wednesday: All day Thursday: All day Friday: All day Saturday: All day Sunday: Unavailable While I do not have any space in my home to keep animals at the moment, in a clients home I am happy to play with pets, let them out or go on walks, crate if desired, clean up any possible mess, and overall act as a safe and friendly part of a petâs environment in any way possible.
âFeeling certain that I have found a perfect solution to my dog care needs. Iâve been working with Rebecca for a little more than a month. She has done a number of walks with Odin and built such a trusting rapport with him. This past weekend, she watched him while at my house while I traveled. There was constant communication throughout and it appeared that Odin was very much taken care of and spoiled all weekend. I also felt that Rebecca respected my home - which meant a lot to me. Everything was as clean (or cleaner) than I left it. That meant a lot to me. I can only give my highest recommendation for Rebecca. If youâre considering it, contact her. Itâs the right decision and she is the right person. Thank you again, Rebecca!â

âAiden was amazing at taking care of our babies while we were away for a wedding. She was great at giving us updates and left our apartment in immaculate condition. We could tell our pets were well loved and give the best treatment. Would recommend Aiden 10/10 times.â

About: I have always had a pet dog and ever since I was a teenager, Iâd dog-sit for family and neighbors. Since college, Iâve been pet-sitting ajd dog walking on a more professional level. Iâve babysat for a few hours, simply for a walk, but have also watched multiple high energy dogs for up to two weeks. Iâve cared for dogs under a year old and up to 13 years old. Iâve always loved dogs and find them very easy to get along with and care for no matter their size, age, or personality. I have also cared for kittens a few weeks old, senior cats, administering medication orally, grooming them if they have long hair etc. Cats have a very different energy than dogs but I enjoy taking care of them just as much as dogs. I am currently in between jobs so I have a lot of free time to care for other dogs, whether it is a short walk or a multi-hour play date, etc. I always follow whatever guidance I am provided by pet parents. This means if you are only comfortable with your dog on a leash or lead while in your yard, I strictly follow that. If there are specific commands to use, certain behavior to watch out for or discourage, particular toys or activities they enjoy, I always follow what information I am given and am always open and communicate well about any issues or concerns that might arise on my end.
âJaclyn was great! She got along with our dogs like she knew them from day one of them joining our family. She went above and beyond to take care of them thank you so much to Rover and especially Jaclyn.â

âKayla stayed at our house for a week with our 2 dogs and she did an excellent job. We highly recommend her for any of your needs with babysitting your animals when youâre thinking of getting away. We will definitely be using Kayla in the future.â

âShea is very reliable and responsive. Iâm an anxious dog mom with a dog that has serious health issues that require daily meds and I was able to go away for 5 nights with minimal cell service and had piece of mind that my dog and cat were both well cared for!â
About: Iâve taken care of various animals since I was young. Friends and family depended on me to feed, walk, and take care of their pets. I know the importance of pet care and how to have close and fun relationships with all animals, especially cats and dogs! Iâm an animal lover at heart and grew up surrounded by dogs, cats, and various farm animals. I am extremely patient with animals and making sure they are taken care of, nurtured, and treated well are my top priorities as well as having fun with them! Pet care fits into my daily routine very easily! I currently take care of two cats at home and have grown up around animals so I am comfortable around them ! I am fairly available and my schedule is the following: Monday: 9 am - 10/11 pm Tuesday : 9 am - 10/11 pm Wednesday: 9 am - 10/11 pm Thursday: 9 am - 10/11 pm Friday : 9 am - 10/11 pm Saturday: 9 am - 10/11 pm Sunday : 9 am - 10/11 pm I live in a very safe area where there are many parks and fields of land surrounding it making it a prime location to have animals. I have no problem walking great distances and being patient with animals especially dogs when it comes to bathroom time. I always have a great time with very lovable, friendly, and energetic dogs and cats and enjoy spending time with them and making sure they are happy and having fun! I can always give them treats, play with them and encourage them to play with their toys, and stay with them for as long as needed! Moreover bonding with them is a process that is individual to every animal, it is not something I can rush and I will take the time to get to know every pet. If anything were to happen during my time with them I will always be available to connect with!

About: Iâve had my own dog, Lily, for 12 yearsâsheâs been with me since she was just 2 months old. Caring for her throughout every stage of life has given me hands on experience with everything from puppy training to adult dog care. I genuinely love dogs and feel comfortable with their different needs and personalities. In addition to caring for my own dog, Iâve also dog sat for several families in my neighborhood. Iâm now looking to continue dog sitting over the summer before starting my career as a Physician Assistant in the fall. Iâm excited to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care for every dog I look after. This summer I am only working in the morning on Saturdays and afternoon on Sundays, making my schedule free and flexible for your petâs needs! I am expected to start my full time job in September, but I am happy to continue dog sitting for you when time allows : ) I follow each ownerâs instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walking routines, crate use, and any special needs or medications. I understand that every dog is different and has individualized needs, and I am happy to help them in whatever way I can. When caring for pets in a clientâs home, I respect their space and routines. I also provide regular updates and photos, so owners feel confident their pet is safe and happy while theyâre away.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Melrose
Rachael is wonderful! Bud loved his time with her and was happy when we came home. She sat for us over the 4th of July holiday weekend, so she had to contend with any fireworks or loud partying, and there were no issues. I love that she sent us pictures each day of Bud (she's also great at taking those pictures - so cute!). That really put my heart at ease. I will 100% use her again if she is available next time I need someone!

FAQs for House Sitting - Melrose
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,303 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Melrose. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitterâs presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Melrose walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your homeâs security or appliances.
Itâs helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Melrose maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate theyâll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your petâs profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Melrose choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Roverâs commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justiceâs National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Melrose. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
