“Sammy was incredible with our two dogs, Penny and Hazel! She followed every detail we left (and there were a lot!), including feeding schedules, leash instructions, and even some quirky habits. Sammy kept us updated and truly treated our pups like her own. We’d absolutely recommend Sammy to anyone looking for a trustworthy, responsible, and caring pet sitter. She went above and beyond, and we’ll definitely be asking her again next time we go away!”

About: I’ve owned an assortment of animals from dogs & cats, to hamsters and birds. Currently I have a dog and two cats that mean the world to me. I enjoy caring for animals, either walking dogs, or scooping litter boxes. I retired early in 2020 due to the pandemic, and couldn’t think of anything I’d enjoy more than being with animals. I decided to give pet sitting a try, and I’m loving it. Let me spoil and care for your pet just like you do! I’m available on weekends and all holidays too. Currently I do not travel outside of Enfield. My pets are my routine! First thing in the morning they get their breakfast and treats before I scoop their litter boxes. Then it’s time to walk my pup, and start my day. Evenings are usually a repeat, just with more snuggles. All my pets are free to roam my 4 bedroom home. I have a completely fenced in yard on a quiet dead end street with only 6 houses. I am almost always home and love the company of animals. I will follow client rules in their homes.
“Lauren is amazing! She's meticulous and joyful with my dog Madeleine. Such a relief when I am away at work to known Lauren is coming to walk my girl and that Madeleine will have such a great day with her.”

“This was our second time using Riley She’s great with communication and I love getting pics of our fur babies. It’s a great peace of mind knowing we can go away and they are taken care of”

“Rachael was great with Cali. She communicated incredibly well with me prior to, during, and after her visit with my puppy. I would absolutely use her services again and highly recommend her”

About: I have been taking care of dogs almost my whole life, and finally decided to branch out and get more clients on my roster. I am a nineteen year old college student studying to become a music teacher, and I have two small dogs of my own. I have experience with large dogs, medium dogs, tiny dogs- you name it! I’ve worked with puppies to seniors. I can’t wait to help take care of your furry friends! I’m currently attending community college in Enfield during the week (except Friday’s) and spend the weekends with my parents and my sister in their summer home. When I’m not in class, I am taking care of my dogs by doing things like feeding them, brushing their teeth, brushing my long haired dog, and any other needs they might require. I have experience in dog training which includes basic commands, resource guarding, and crating. My female cocker spaniel was fully trained by me, and my male dog knows a few tricks.
“We couldn’t be happier with Alexandra! We needed a last-minute dog sitter for the 4th of July weekend, and she was absolutely amazing with our 10-year-old German Shepherd, Gus. She came by twice a day for drop-in visits and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Gus can sometimes take a little time to warm up to new people, but he quickly became comfortable with Alexandra, which says a lot about her calm, caring approach. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly treated Gus like he was her own. We loved receiving updates and knowing he was getting plenty of attention and care. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, kind, and dependable, we highly recommend Alexandra. We’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“Elizabeth did an outstanding job with our two dogs! She always sent pics and took great care make sure they had what they needed. Highly recommended and will work with her again.”

“Rachel did a couple last minute drop-ins for me and was even able to squeeze in a meet & greet to meet my shy pup Kiva beforehand. Despite the meet & greet, Kiva was still wary and Rachel was very patient with her as Kiva got more comfortable. Thank you Rachel, I appreciate you!”

About: I’ve loved animals since I was young, always being known to be the person who asks “Can I pet your dog?”. Having grown up living with and partially helping to train my grandparent’s standard poodle puppy at age 9, I knew then that I wanted animals in my life forever. Through the years I’ve done fundraisers for local shelters, looked after and groomed family dogs, given pet care advice, and for the last four years have worked professionally as a kennel attendant. My job has always been a joy to me, and despite its stresses I always tell people that caring for animals is the best job I could ever ask for. I’ve been able to meet and work with pets of all different breeds, sizes, temperaments, and abilities; from blind/deaf dogs, senior dogs, aggressive dogs, puppies/kittens, diabetic dogs and cats, and so many more. Each of them provides an invaluable experiences that teaches me patience, compassion, and communication. I’m now the proud owner of a 11 month old cat, Balrog, and of a 13 year old chihuahua, Mia. Though I am a full time student and a part time kennel attendant, I am able to be more flexible with my schedule over summer break. My current availability is as follows, Monday: Unavailable Tuesday: All day Wednesday: All day Thursday: All day Friday: All day Saturday: All day Sunday: Unavailable While I do not have any space in my home to keep animals at the moment, in a clients home I am happy to play with pets, let them out or go on walks, crate if desired, clean up any possible mess, and overall act as a safe and friendly part of a pet’s environment in any way possible.
About: I have always had a pet dog and ever since I was a teenager, I’d dog-sit for family and neighbors. Since college, I’ve been pet-sitting ajd dog walking on a more professional level. I’ve babysat for a few hours, simply for a walk, but have also watched multiple high energy dogs for up to two weeks. I’ve cared for dogs under a year old and up to 13 years old. I’ve always loved dogs and find them very easy to get along with and care for no matter their size, age, or personality. I have also cared for kittens a few weeks old, senior cats, administering medication orally, grooming them if they have long hair etc. Cats have a very different energy than dogs but I enjoy taking care of them just as much as dogs. I am currently in between jobs so I have a lot of free time to care for other dogs, whether it is a short walk or a multi-hour play date, etc. I always follow whatever guidance I am provided by pet parents. This means if you are only comfortable with your dog on a leash or lead while in your yard, I strictly follow that. If there are specific commands to use, certain behavior to watch out for or discourage, particular toys or activities they enjoy, I always follow what information I am given and am always open and communicate well about any issues or concerns that might arise on my end.

About: I’ve been caring for animals for many years through both pet ownership and pet sitting. I currently have a Springer Spaniel and a Labrador Retriever, so I’m comfortable with active, high-energy dogs and understand the importance of exercise, consistency, and routine. I’ve also cared for family members’ cats and have experience providing overnight care for dogs while owners are away. As a teacher, I’m dependable, organized, and attentive to details, and I’ll care for your pets as if they were my own. I’m a teacher and currently work summer school from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM on weekdays, which gives me plenty of availability in the afternoons, evenings, and on weekends if messaged. During the school year, I maintain a consistent schedule and am available before and after work for drop-in visits, walks, and pet care. As a pet owner myself, caring for animals is already part of my daily routine, and I enjoy making sure pets receive the attention, exercise, and companionship they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have experience caring for both dogs and cats and currently have a Springer Spaniel and a Labrador Retriever of my own. I always follow the routines and instructions provided by owners, including feeding schedules, medications, walks, and crate training if needed. Whether caring for pets in your home or mine, I provide plenty of attention, exercise, supervision, and updates so you can feel confident that your pet is happy, safe, and well cared for while you’re away.
About: I have cared for my own dog and family members dogs for several years. I also am an approved foster for Caribbean Canine Connection. I have experience with all ages from puppies to senior dogs with special medical requirements. My own dog, Luke, is very dog friendly as we always have fosters in & out of the home. I work from home M-F so there is almost always somebody home with your pet. My schedule is flexible to accommodate frequent potty breaks. On weekends, my husband and I like to take whatever dogs are in our home on a short, or long hike depending on the tolerance of the animal. Pets are family! I will accomodate any reasonable request. Unless you ask otherwise, all pets will be allowed on furniture. We have baby gates up to separate the dogs in the home if needed..if your dog is crate trained, we have a crate set up in the family room. If your dog is not used to the crate (but is housebroken) they will be allowed to free roam the kitchen/living room at night. All dogs will be fed separately!
“Jo was terrific! Very communicative and responsible. She sent us photos every day of our cat Olivia who seem to have a terrific time visiting with her. I would highly recommend Jo to anyone looking for someone who wants to be sure that their pet will be well taken care of.”

“Jessica and her husband had an incredibly fast response time. This was our first time using rover and they made it feel very straight forward. Jessica and her husband also went above and beyond the call of duty. They very good at what they do. I definitely recommend”

“We are very thankful to have found Shea to care for our pups while we are away! Having a high energy rescue pup we had been limited in our ability to do much traveling. Shea came for a meet and greet and after spending a short time with us we were all calm and comfortable. Shea has helped us several times and each time we have come back to a tidy home and happy, well-adjusted doggies! Thank you Shea.”

Mark did an excellent job caring for our two cats. I appreciated his flexibility when I modified the listing. He also checked in to make sure everything was all set before we left for vacation. He sent photos in the app and played well with our kitties. Definitely recommend. Thanks so much!

Jaclyn is such a kind amazing person and I’m so glad we found her! She really made me feel that my fur babies were in the best hands. She was very detailed on everything. My cats warmed up very quickly to her! Overall just a great experience with her and was very communicative. She even came to my house to meet and understand the routine, pick up our garage button before we left for our trip and closed up the house each day. I would 100% recommend her to anyone! Thank you Jaclyn!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Melrose. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
