“Catherine was amazing! Her and her husband were very sweet and knowledgeable! They took the time to do a proper meet and greet which helped my dog get to know them and made my experience so comforting to know exactly where my dog would be as well as get to know who my dog would be staying with. They sent updates throughout the entire time. My dog was so happy, well cared for, and felt at home. Highly recommended booking Catherine!”

“Ashley did amazing. She had both of our dogs this time (double the trouble) but they came back very happy and well cared for. I can't recommend this sitter enough. She is amazing.”
“Our two dogs stayed with Alejandro for 5 days and they loved it! Very responsive and great with dogs, even taught our 1 year old golden a new trick! Sent videos and pictures and kept us up to date on how everything was going. Would highly recommend!”

“Very kind family who took their time to abide the schedule I had provided for my dog, as well as updated me constantly on his well being. Very kind, extroverted children who love dogs as well. Thank you greatly.”

“As always, Laurie took great care of our Bernie. He came back after a long weekend happy and exhausted from all the exercise he got with the other doggies. We received no less than 30 pictures of him in action during our time away from him and he appeared to be having a better vacation than us !! So blessed to have Laurie so close by.”

“Luna stayed with Antonia for the second time. She likes her a lot and her dog and cat. Will keep booking with Antonia when we need a caring, sweet and attentive sitter. I know Luna is in good hands when she goes to Antonia.”

“I will 100% be using Rutba again. She sent me photo updates of my dog each day and kept me updated as much as needed. I have never used Rover or an overnight sitter besides an actual boarder and I don't see myself going back. Rutba was amazing! Thank you for taking such amazing care of my baby!”

About: I've grown up with dogs all my life. My Eagle Scout project was to help create storage and kits for a dog rescue agency and since then I've helped foster 5 dogs and doggysat for numerous friends and family. I give dogs my time and attention and try to pay attention to their preferences and habits. I am a college student so I have flexibility to care for animals during summer and winter breaks. I love being able to chill on the couch next to dogs so they feel cared for and loved. I have a fenced yard and two very sweet dogs who have been mentors to our foster dogs. We have toybaskets everywhere and a regular routine for feeding and care.
“AleV was absolutely INCREDIBLE! This was our first time leaving Keegan and she made it as easy as possible. Regular pics, videos and update. She cared for him as if he was her own. We are so thankful to have found her. CANNOT recommend higher!”

“Sara was an amazing sitter! From day one, she provided excellent communication and was very responsive to my questions. During the trip, she sent several updates and pictures, so I knew that my pup was well cared for. In some of those pictures, my pup did things that she'd do at our house, so i knew that Sara treated her as a family member.”

About: In this past year I’ve been caring for a friends 3 legged dog. She needs extra loving, patience and care that I’m fully able to provide to her and others. My weekends are always open. I’m able to accept last minute requests as well. I’ll work around your schedule. Please reach out to me with any questions! I don’t have any pets, so I’m able to give yours my full attention. I do have a teenager that might come along for a walk, just a heads up.
“Giana took such good care of my dog - he's currently passed out and snoring, which I feel he will be doing all week! He loved her dogs and played so well with them. She also sent a ton of pictures and even did a cute photo shoot!! I am so happy we found her!”

“Coco had a great first stay with Cindy and her sweet family and dog Pepper. Cindy kept us up-to-date with how the stay was going by sending many photos during Coco’s stay. She was also very accommodating in terms of last-minute changes to the drop off and pick up times.”

“Christine watched our 1.5 year old Cockapoo for 5 days. She sent pics and updated us throughout that stay. She is caring and a true dog lover! We have had some not so good experiences in the past and we're so glad to have found Christine. Thank you again!”

“My puppies came home from their overnight stay happy & healthy! Emily is a professional vet tech and obviously a dog lover… so I would definitely recommend Emily as a good overnight caregiver.”

About: I have been a dog walker for my neighbor for 5 years. I have experienced in pet sitting small and big dogs, as well as puppies and senior dogs. In my free time I walk senior dogs from a shelter. Over these years and with all my experiences, I have learned dog expressions and warning signs which help me to prevent dogs from any triggering behavior. I’m am a college student and work a weekend job. During the week after classes I have free time to dog walk. I keep my calendar updated regularly for any days where I might not be available throughout the week. I live in an apartment, which is why I choose only small to medium sized dogs to board. I have a large yard that is fenced except for the driveway entrance, for your pets safety I only take dogs into the yard with a leash and as always constant supervision.
“Christina was amazing with dudley. She sent photos every day as well as text updates to let me know what they doing at the park and on walks and how my snugglepuff was adjusting and settling in. She gave me early notice that the food was running low so I was able to send her more well before it ran out and became an emergency. He also enjoyed playing with onyx, the neighbor dog, and I was thrilled he had the canine company. She was very loving and kind towards duds, and I am sending him back next week for 3 more days to board while I wrap up a work event.”
“It was so nice to knowing my dog was in good hands, surrounded by lots of love, while I was out of the country vacationing. I was worried my Scooby would miss me, meanwhile he had a BLAST playing and eating good, doesn’t look like he gave me a second thought!!! He played with friends 🥹 and I love that I found the best sitter on here. My dog Scooby and I will absolutely be returning clients!!!”

“Our dog Maggie had such a great time with Ann and her family. Between catching wiffle balls or playing in a kiddie pool, Maggie was well looked after and enjoyed lots of play time. Ann is a very loving and caring person and we knew immediately Maggie was in great hands. The backyard is safe and fenced in with plenty of space to run around. Ann gave daily updates with photos and videos! Highly recommend!!”

Daniel did a great job of taking care of our dog Rocky while we were away. I was a little anxious about leaving him but felt much better after our Meet and Greet. He was gentle and patient with my shy guy and it put us at ease. He sent videos of Rocky daily and accommodated our apprehension about having Rocky around other dogs. I definitely recommend Daniel for your pet sitting needs.

Cynthia and Sonnie took amazing care of our puppy! We were worried about dropping off our little guy, but we knew were in good hands from the meet-and-greet. They were so approachable, kind and knowledgeable. Wonderful communication and photos throughout stay. Thank you so much!

Korin was so kind and accommodating for Penelope. She even sent me updates and pictures 🥹 as a first time cat mom i really appreciated how communicative she was. Also very flexible with her schedule which I really appreciated. I would recommend her to watch over anyone's animal!

I had never boarded my cat before so I was very nervous. Natalia was so sweet and communicative she really made me feel so much more at ease about leaving Leslie overnight. Natalia sent photos of Leslie and took wonderful care of her. She even had all of Leslie’s things packed and really when I came to pick Leslie up. I highly recommend Natalia!

This was our first time using Rover. I was very reluctant to use a person I did not know, or friends didn't know. However, I am so glad I took the chance with a 5 day/overnight in Sarah's home. It's a relief she only takes one animal at a time since our dog doesn't like other dogs. At the meet and greet, Sarah asked many questions to get a feel for Milo (eating & bathroom habits, walking, sleeping habits etc...) To start, her home is absolutely immaculate. I received a daily update with pictures on how our dog was adjusting & doing overall. Milo was displaying some quirky behaviors which Sarah reported right away & thought was cute/funny. She was very accepting, flexible in many ways, and an absolute delight to talk with. It is apparent she is a dog lover! Upon pick up, Milo was happy and all his belongings were packed & ready to go. We plan on using Sarah again for our next trip, if she's available.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
