Whitney is a dog whisperer! Our dog is anxious around anybody but her immediate family & Whitney had her curled up next to her after one day. Absolute miracle. Whitney was very communicative the entire time and very respectful with our house. Thank you so much Whitney!

About: I’ve had 2 large dogs, 3 cats, and 2 bunnies my whole life! I’m ready and excited for whatever gets thrown at me! I love playing and caring for your pets probably more than they do haha Because I finished my major at Pepperdine i’m looking for things to fill my time while paying my bills, walking, playing, and caring for your animals brings joy to me I have a pretty flexible schedule with school so we can work together to figure out a plan that will work for both of us!

Natalie was a lifesaver to help watch our two large, active dogs on the Fourth of July while we were at a wedding. Our older pup, Bongo, is terrified of fireworks and we recently rescued our new puppy, Gin, so we weren’t sure how she would react. Natalie was so calm and kind and I think the dogs really felt her good energy and everything worked out perfectly. 10/10 recommend Natalie for anyone that is looking for someone to love on and care for their dogs as if they were their own.

I am so happy that I had Liana care for my dog Sparky. Sparky is a geriatric special needs dog that needs medication for heart disease 6 times a day. He also has degenerative disc disease so needs help going up steps and lifting him. Liana was tender and lovingly caring for Sparky, knew where he was all the time he was in her care. I highly recommend her without any reservations. I was totally at ease knowing Liana was cring for Sparky.

Kristen was fantastic from start to finish. She was super communicative during the upfront discussions. Came by for a meet and greet and got along great with our pet. We had some travel logistics go wrong and she was super flexible with us during it. I could not have asked for more. We returned and our pet was great, and the house looked like no one was there.

About: I currently have three dogs, a golden retriver, a dachshund mix, and a golden retriver german shepard mixed puppy. I have grown up around dogs and many kinds of animals. Since I was young I have taken care of my dogs, I walk, feed, and clean them. Additionally, I know how to handle a difficult dog becuase my recently deceased lab mix had some behavioral issues which I think is important because not all dogs are easy to walk. I'm currently a college student home for the summer. I'm essentially a sitting duck right now, meaning my schedule is wide open. I can come in the morning, night, or afternoon. I make sure to walk my dogs at least once a day but I try to make it twice a day. I feed and weight my dogs food before giving it to them, and make sure to feed them at the same time everyday. I am very good with dogs and respectful of peoples homes and make sure to keep my own home clean while having three dogs.

About: I’ve spent years around dogs of all sizes and personalities—energetic puppies, mellow seniors, and everything in between. Whether that’s long walks, runs, play sessions, or just quiet company, I adjust to each dog’s unique needs and energy level. I’m comfortable with basic training reinforcement, giving medications, and keeping a consistent routine so your pet feels secure while you’re away. Because I’m active myself, I love giving dogs plenty of exercise—whether that’s neighborhood walks or longer outdoor adventures. At the same time, I know when a pet just needs patience, calm, and extra TLC. My goal is always to make your dog feel safe, happy, and cared for as if they were my own. Because I work remotely, I'm home throughout the day and available for pet care at virtually any time. Whether it's midday walks, feeding schedules, or just keeping a furry friend company, I can easily weave it into my routine without any disruption. Pets in my care are never left alone for long — I'm always just a room away! When caring for pets, safety and comfort always come first. In your home, I make sure to stick to your pet’s routine so they feel secure—whether that means feeding schedules, walks, or bedtime rituals. I’m attentive to details like locking doors, checking gates, and making sure your pet has water, food, and a cozy spot to relax. I believe trust comes from consistency, so I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. Whether it’s playtime, exercise, or quiet companionship, I create an environment where your pet feels safe, cared for, and happy while you’re away.

Cashmere was a great fit for my big dog and our family. She came by ahead of time to meet our pup and get comfortable with his routine and her surroundings which was great. I received pictures and updates throughout our trip and she did a good job of pivoting in the crazy heat to play more n the backyard vs take him on longer walks which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend her without hesitation.

We were hesitant to leave our senior dog with someone new, but after meeting Lilian, we were immediately at ease. She didn’t bat an eye at my extremely lengthy instructions and sent lots of photos and videos. Our sweet girl takes some extra care and patience and we are so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. Our furnace went out the day before we returned and she handled it all without a glitch (despite a freezing cold house). We feel lucky to have found Lillian!

Kourosh is ery responsive and easy to work with. It was great having someone who is willing to stay overnight with my disabled, senior dog at a reasonable rate. It gets very expensive given I cannot board her so I really appreciate the peace of mind of having somebody in my home I can trust and who has patience with older dogs.

Emma looked after our home as if it were her own, provided great communication in advance and during the sit and sent us some great photos whilst we were away. I’d have absolutely no hesitation in leaving Ozzie with Emma again.

Marissa was superb! She is such an animal person. Isis immediately fell in love with her immediately and they had a great time. Plenty of walks, lots of love and Marissa even took her back and forth to daycare three times over the course of a week. Marissa left the house spotless and was kind enough to strip the beds so the housekeeper could launder the sheets and towels. I will definitely hire her again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Malibu Beach

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Malibu Beach on Rover is $36.63 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 11,877 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Malibu Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Malibu Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Malibu Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Malibu Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Malibu Beach. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
