Taylor took great care of my two chihuahuas and home while my husband and me were gone for the holidays. We so appreciated her availability on Christmas! The dogs seemed happy when we returned and the house was in good order.

Kristen was fantastic from start to finish. She was super communicative during the upfront discussions. Came by for a meet and greet and got along great with our pet. We had some travel logistics go wrong and she was super flexible with us during it. I could not have asked for more. We returned and our pet was great, and the house looked like no one was there.

Cashmere was a great fit for my big dog and our family. She came by ahead of time to meet our pup and get comfortable with his routine and her surroundings which was great. I received pictures and updates throughout our trip and she did a good job of pivoting in the crazy heat to play more n the backyard vs take him on longer walks which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend her without hesitation.

Ozzie took an INSTANT liking to Emma and I’m not surprised. She is gentle, caring and an absolute natural with dogs. Emma looked after our home as if it were her own, provided great communication in advance and during the sit and sent us some great photos whilst we were away. I’d have absolutely no hesitation in leaving Ozzie with Emma again.

Oksana did an amazing job looking after my Mochi while I was gone for a week! She stayed over night and made sure she got plenty of play time and love. From the pictures, I think my kitten might have even liked spending time with her more than she likes it with me! Would definitely recommend Oksana for anyone who wants to ensure their cat is happy and cared for while they are away. Thanks Oksana!

If I could leave 10 stars I would. She house sat and cared for my 7 month old puppy and 14 year old senior dog so well. She went above and beyond especially because so many different things happened during the stay that were out of the ordinary (a prowler trespassing, a tree branch falling and damaging our fence, our puppy going into her first heat) and she handled it all with ease and grace. Will hire her again and highly recommend!

About: Years with my own dog taught me that dogs have a few universal talents: finding the muddiest puddle, convincing you they haven’t eaten in days five minutes after dinner, and making every walk an adventure. Volunteering at a shelter reminded me that behind all those funny moments is something even more important—every dog wants to feel safe, understood, and loved. I’ve become pretty fluent in “dog language.” 🐶 That’s why I take the time to get to know each dog’s personality and earn their trust. I think it’s the best part of spending time with them. My skills: * Understanding dog behavior and body language * Building trust with dogs of different personalities * Patient and gentle handling * Caring for dogs of different ages and temperaments * Following detailed care instructions * Providing companionship, play, and attention My schedule allows me to dedicate plenty of time to walks, playtime, and giving each dog the individual attention they need. I understand that dogs feel happiest and most comfortable when they can keep their familiar routine. I do my best to create a calm, safe, and consistent environment that feels as close to home as possible while their family is away. I work full-time, seven days a week, so I’m available to provide reliable and consistent care for your pets whenever you need it. Before caring for your pet, I like to learn the little details that make them unique — their favorite activities, walking habits, how they communicate, and what helps them feel comfortable. During each walk, visit, or house sitting stay, I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing how your furry friend is doing. My goal is simple: for your dog to feel like they’re spending time with someone they trust!

About: * I definitely can board cats at my place no problem! I love kitties and all animals! I can also do cat visits at your place.* I am an immense animal lover & have pet sitting experience for over 20 years. I have wonderful references. I am a loving person that is intuitively in tuned with animals, an Empath. I am also EXTREMELY responsible & taking care of another persons beloved pet/family member & home very seriously. My goal is for you to come home to a very happy pet!! I treat the Pet that I'm taking care of as if he or she were my own. I give them all the love that they need and want unless of course they need space. Then I respect that. 💖 I am always sad when the boarding or pet sit is finished. Because I know I'll miss them terribly! And at the same time I am happy that they will be reunited with their pet parent. PLEASE READ; Doggie daycare I can take your fur baby to the park which is a block away and I live in an apartment. Palisades Park in Santa Monica is just a block away from me. I also need at least a day or two in advanced notice to do doggy day care because I would need to meet you and your pup a day or two before to see if it's a fit. With overnight pet sitting at a client's house, I don't do any less than two nights. And I can do much longer stays at a person's house no problem! I take Low to Medium energy doggies for the price listed. I don't take high energy doggies. I do,do medications for your pets no problem but I DO NOT GIVE SHOTS. For walking dogs, I DO NOT WALK DOGGIES THAT ARE HARD PULLERS.UNLESS THEY ARE TINY DOGS 15 POUNDS OR UNDER,THEN I MIGHT CONSIDER IT AFTER A TEST WALK. 💕💕💕 If your doggy pulls a little bit that's okay. That's not an issue at all. Thank you for understanding! I am able to board smaller animals as in mice, rats, turtles Etc. I love All animals so they will all get love! I am self-employed with other work as well so it's easy for me to spend quality time with your pets! Flexible schedule on my part. #catcare #housesitting #overnightpetsitting #kittycare #housesits #catsitting #catpetcare #catnanny #housesitting #overnightpetsittings #Boarding #Doggydaycare #overnightpetcare #houseandpetsitting #kittysits #petcaregiver #dropinvisits #dogwalks #houseandpetsitting #catsits #overnightpetcare #overnighthouseandpetcare Please Keep in Mind that I answer potential customers messages between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. ( Any messages that come before or after that will be answered during this time range. Thank you so much! I work for myself from home or from a client's home if I am house sitting, so my schedule is flexible! I have of time to love and pay attention and enjoy your pets company! #dogwalks #catsits #dropinvisits #catsitting #doggiedaycare #petdaycare #petovernightcare #overnightcare For boarding I live in an apartment that has a security door. With overnights at people's homes since my schedule is flexible, pets get alot of my time which I'm more than happy to give since my favorite thing to do is to spend time with pets!💖 Pets also need time to get used to the pet sitter like myself so I am very patient and kind and loving to them and their process of getting to know me. It was so clear that Dolly was having the best time! You can truly see how much Maria loves dogs and how much care she puts into everything she does. We were hesitant to leave our senior dog with someone new, but after meeting Lilian, we were immediately at ease. She didn’t bat an eye at my extremely lengthy instructions and sent lots of photos and videos. Our sweet girl takes some extra care and patience and we are so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. Our furnace went out the day before we returned and she handled it all without a glitch (despite a freezing cold house). We feel lucky to have found Lillian!

About: I love all animals and have had dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, hamsters, birds, honey bees, a turtle and fish.... oh my! I am currently a life-coach specializing in health and wellness and because I do this remotely, I have the great opportunity to also be able to help others out by taking care of their home and animals while they are away. I raised a daughter as a single mother and when we went out of town I paid sitters to stay at our home in Aspen and Los Angeles and care for it and my animals while we were out of town, so I thoroughly understand what is expected of a home and animal sitter/walker. I love all animals of all sizes and I would love to help you out caring for your animals and/or home. You can visit my website to learn more about me and my business. My website is KimberlyLynnWilliamsdotcom Because health and wellness is my life, I do not smoke, drink, or do any kind of drugs, or even medication’s for that matter. Because I’m so healthy, I am chemically sensitive. I am only available to sit in homes that use fragrance-free detergent and fabric softener, natural cleaning, products, and do not use any kind of plug-ins, or air fresheners. I don’t have a problem with 100% pure essential oils at all. I do have a little 5 pound toy sized Maltese- Pomeranian dog named Rosie that travels with me. I used to have Rosie and two Newfoundland’s but when I lost my newfies, Rosie needed to be with me 24 seven. She’s 12 years old. She doesn’t care anything about cats and leaves them alone. If you’re interested in connecting, I would be happy to come and meet and see if it feels like a fit. I have my own business and I work from home, which frees me up to health care for your pets in your home. It’s an ideal situation. I only sit in your home as I currently do not offer sitting in my own home. I find that this is more comfortable for the animals to be in their own home anyway.

Kourosh is ery responsive and easy to work with. It was great having someone who is willing to stay overnight with my disabled, senior dog at a reasonable rate. It gets very expensive given I cannot board her so I really appreciate the peace of mind of having somebody in my home I can trust and who has patience with older dogs.

Fallon was absolutely amazing. One week before our one and a half week long trip our dog Hank had to have major emergency surgery. I was so torn about leaving, but my son was getting married and I could not miss it. I called Fallon and asked her how she felt about watching him after surgery and she said it was no problem. Not only did Fallon take great care of him, but she also took him to the vet to have his sutures removed. She was amazing all around and I hope she stays local for a long time so that we can always call on her. Hank made a new best friend and I know he misses her. not only did I trust her with my boy Hank, but I also was relieved that she stayed in our home. Thank you Fallon, I don’t know how I can repay you for watching him so that we could all go to the wedding.

FAQs for House Sitting - Fernwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fernwood on Rover is $85.47 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 12,244 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fernwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fernwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fernwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fernwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fernwood. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
