“I am so happy that I had Liana care for my dog Sparky. Sparky is a geriatric special needs dog that needs medication for heart disease 6 times a day. He also has degenerative disc disease so needs help going up steps and lifting him. Liana was tender and lovingly caring for Sparky, knew where he was all the time he was in her care. I highly recommend her without any reservations. I was totally at ease knowing Liana was cring for Sparky.”

About: I’ve grown up my entire life with Dogs ranging in size from Chihuahua to black lab, including puppies to senior dogs. If I could have a dog of my own, I would, but given my strict pet policy, I will gladly take the alternative, which is watching someone else’s. I work fully remote, so pet sitting fits my schedule pretty easily. I do ask for advance notice, but I am an extremely active individual and love all animals. I treat pets that I sit as if they were my own. I love giving affection to animals and going on walks and spending as much time as I can showing them as much love as they show us

“Oksana did an amazing job looking after my Mochi while I was gone for a week! She stayed over night and made sure she got plenty of play time and love. From the pictures, I think my kitten might have even liked spending time with her more than she likes it with me! Would definitely recommend Oksana for anyone who wants to ensure their cat is happy and cared for while they are away. Thanks Oksana!”

“Jeremy is truly the best, he has watched our boys multiple times now and they can be a handful! Our pups are always in good spirits after hanging with him for a few days and our home is always very clean when we get back! He’s the best sitter we’ve had in the LA area 😊”

“I knew my doggies were in good hands with Esther. I was able to relax and enjoy my trip. She did a great job house sitting and followed all my instructions. My dogs seemed well cared for and happy when I got home. I especially appreciate the pictures Esther sent every day.”

About: I’ve always had animals around growing up, and I’ve always seemed to have a natural connection with them. Animals tend to feel comfortable around me, and I really enjoy getting to know their different personalities. For the past four years, I’ve been dog sitting for friends and have really enjoyed being someone they can trust with their pets while they’re away. I’m happy to go on walks, play, give lots of attention and cuddles, or just hang out and keep your pet company. I know every pet is different, so I do my best to follow their normal routine and make sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re gone. I currently work part-time and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to work around your pet’s normal routine. I know consistency can be important for pets, so I do my best to keep their walks, meals, playtime, and other daily activities as close to their usual schedule as possible. And, of course, I’ll make sure there’s plenty of time for attention, cuddles, and extra love along the way! I primarily care for pets in their own home, where they can remain comfortable in a familiar environment and stay close to their normal routine. I make it a priority to follow the care instructions provided by each pet parent, including meals, walks, playtime, and any other daily routines. I also make sure pets get plenty of attention, companionship, and cuddles (if they’re a cuddler, of course!). While you’re away, I’ll treat your home with care and respect and do my best to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and comfortable until you return.
“Taylor took great care of my two chihuahuas and home while my husband and me were gone for the holidays. We so appreciated her availability on Christmas! The dogs seemed happy when we returned and the house was in good order.”

“Elena did an awesome job with our dog, and she was incredibly communicative and helpful throughout the stay. She sent great pictures, let us know when anything needed our attention, and was always willing to help if we needed it. Would absolutely book her again!”

“We were hesitant to leave our senior dog with someone new, but after meeting Lilian, we were immediately at ease. She didn’t bat an eye at my extremely lengthy instructions and sent lots of photos and videos. Our sweet girl takes some extra care and patience and we are so grateful that we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. Our furnace went out the day before we returned and she handled it all without a glitch (despite a freezing cold house). We feel lucky to have found Lillian!”

“Lilly was fantastic with our three dogs. Two of them are 15 y/o and needed a lot of personal attention - and she was terrific. The dogs all loved her, she stayed in touch with us and sent pictures. You know when you meet Lilly that you have a super dependable and kind person that will care for your pets like they were hers. The ratings only go up to '5' but she earned a '10'!!”
About: It's been a lifetime with cats and dogs. I've had two cats by myself, Puck a long time ago, and more recently Stella, As a family we had a Brittany Spaniel called Mustard. When I lived with a housemate we had lovely mixed-breed dog Mimi. I've cared for my daughter's cat Bruce, now for her dog JJ, my son's dog Noodle, friends' and familys' cats and dogs, and even for chickens a few times. I love those friendly girls. I'm comfortable administering medications and have done it a lot. I'm a registered nurse so that helps. I'm only available for pet and house sits. I work from home and can walk a dog or play with a cat before and after work, and can take short breaks throughout the day as needed to care for your pets. I try as much as possible to care for your pets the way they are used to being cared for by you, in your home, as my schedule allows.

“Nicolette took good care of my two big dogs while we were away for a week. My dogs need many walks, and are not always easy to manage, but she had no issues with them. We came home to two happy dogs and a very tidy house! She even found a way to get them to eat their pills! Thank you, Nicolette!”

“Whitney is a dog whisperer! Our dog is anxious around anybody but her immediate family & Whitney had her curled up next to her after one day. Absolute miracle. Whitney was very communicative the entire time and very respectful with our house. Thank you so much Whitney!”

“Kourosh is ery responsive and easy to work with. It was great having someone who is willing to stay overnight with my disabled, senior dog at a reasonable rate. It gets very expensive given I cannot board her so I really appreciate the peace of mind of having somebody in my home I can trust and who has patience with older dogs.”

“Went above and beyond to make sure that I felt comfortable, followed all directions and was very attentive and very flexible. Will definitely use her anytime. I’m in vegas thank you so much Cyndi .”

“Ozzie took an INSTANT liking to Emma and I’m not surprised. She is gentle, caring and an absolute natural with dogs. Emma looked after our home as if it were her own, provided great communication in advance and during the sit and sent us some great photos whilst we were away. I’d have absolutely no hesitation in leaving Ozzie with Emma again.”

“We had a great experience with Katy! She was wonderful with our pup and kept him in his usual routine. Not only did she take great care of our house, but her communication was prompt and clear, which really put my mind at ease. I would definitely use Katy again and highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fernwood
Fallon was absolutely amazing. One week before our one and a half week long trip our dog Hank had to have major emergency surgery. I was so torn about leaving, but my son was getting married and I could not miss it. I called Fallon and asked her how she felt about watching him after surgery and she said it was no problem. Not only did Fallon take great care of him, but she also took him to the vet to have his sutures removed. She was amazing all around and I hope she stays local for a long time so that we can always call on her. Hank made a new best friend and I know he misses her. not only did I trust her with my boy Hank, but I also was relieved that she stayed in our home. Thank you Fallon, I don’t know how I can repay you for watching him so that we could all go to the wedding.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fernwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fernwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fernwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fernwood. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
