About: Since youth, taking care of animals has always been a significant part of my life. From experiences of hamsters to dogs and to my grandparents, nurturing and deeply loving the smile it brings to my face has always caused me to continue for the many years that I have experienced. Back home, I have a 7 year old beagle who I truly miss spending time with and taking care of while away at college which is why I believe I can use my assets in taking care for the animals near my in my apartment in Santa Cruz. I am currently a college student at Santa Cruz with a means to transportation and can definitely fit pet care into my weekly routine due to my highly developed skill of managing my time efficiently and simply being a responsible adult. I have a lot of experience with a runaway pet who loves to try and escape so I am careful when entering and leaving my apartment.

“I am over the moon about Daisy's full-day stay with Shannon and her family! I knew that Daisy had a great day because she fell fast asleep on the way home, and while she was happy to see me at pick-up, I could also tell she really liked her hosts. She went back and forth greeting me and going back to Shannon or her husband to get her head scratched; there was big tail wagging going on there! Shannon is certainly knowledgeable and experienced in caring for dogs, responsible, kept my pup safe, and supported Daisy's quirks and needs. She and her family followed my requests and instructions perfectly. Shannon sent pictures, which my husband and I so appreciated, and was responsive and clear in all her communications. She was flexible when I requested a time change for drop off and was fine when I wanted to come a bit earlier than scheduled for pick up. Daisy will be very excited, and I will be very happy & confident leaving her again with Shannon ~ I highly recommend her to care for your pet! You get her and her wonderful family!”

About: Caring for animals has always been part of my life. I grew up surrounded by pets of all kinds, including dogs, cats, birds with feathers, fish with fins, and even those with scales. That early exposure gave me a deep comfort and appreciation for animals of every personality and species. I am recently retired, which gives me the flexibility to be fully present and available for pet care when needed. My schedule allows me to accommodate walks, drop-ins, overnights, and extended stays without the constraints of a traditional workday. This flexibility means your pets receive consistent attention, timely care, and a calm, unhurried presence while you are away. When caring for pets in my home, they become part of an active, dog-friendly neighborhood with plenty to explore. I live just 1.5 blocks from the beach and close to great walking spots like Arana Gulch, the park at the end of Schwan Lake, and a nearby dog park only minutes away. Dogs in my care enjoy fresh air, fun walks, and plenty of playtime balanced with calm downtime at home. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on maintaining their normal routines so they feel safe and comfortable in familiar surroundings. For cats, I generally prefer in-home care, as I find they are happiest and most relaxed in their own space, and it helps avoid unnecessary stress for them and unexpected scratching for my furniture. No matter the setting, I care for every pet with genuine love, attention, and respect for their individual needs.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life! Love spending time with my K-9 friends on all walks of life. Experience with puppies and senior dogs. I work from home and have extra time for long nature walks and snuggles. Will take care of your dog as if it’s my own! *Can also provide supervised “Adventure Dog Services” such as trail running or off leash beach activities if your pet is trained for these activities (responsive recall and gets along with others). Since I work from home my schedule is very flexible for dog sitting Monday through Friday. I am usually around most weekends as well but may be in and out more. I have a fenced in yard and will keep your pet indoors with me if preferred. I live near the harbor/beach so quiet walks by the water are also a plus!
