“Our first time at a doggy VRBO. Kerry & Kim were very friendly and loving to our elderly pup. We will definitely us their services again, should the opportunity arise. Big backyard and friendly home environment. No kennels. Kent Wilkinson”

“Caroline was absolutely amazing with our sweet Jackson! We needed a sitter the same day, and she came through for us without hesitation. She kept us updated, communicated every step of the way, and treated Jackson like he was her own. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such loving hands. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would recommend Caroline to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their fur baby. Thank you again ..we’ll definitely be booking with you in the future!”

“Halley was great! She was super nice and friendly, and she kept me updated on how my babies were doing while I was away. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing they were in good hands and having fun. 10/10, I would definitely book with her again!”

“Kenneth watched our pup, Onyx, in his home for 1 week. Kenneth was absolutely wonderful to work with! He took wonderful care of Onyx— so much so that we weren’t sure if Onyx would want to come home! Kenneth communicated with us frequently, sent photos and put our minds at ease while traveling! We can’t wait to work with Kenneth in the future!”

About: I’ve had six years of kennel experience at places like doggy day cares and currently am employed at a vet clinic! At my jobs, I have been responsible for special cases such as dogs with health conditions and giving medications. I also have experience with home visits/overnight stays with clients as well! I currently am employed full time at a vet clinic working as a lead kennel assistant, this means I am responsible for the cats and dogs that are staying the night at our facility! The beginning of my day would be dedicated to your pet then I’m off to work at 7:00 am. I would return for mid-day care at 10:00-11:00 am. Once I’m off work I’d be back for the end of day around 5:30-6:00 pm! With my experience at not only at doggy day cares but vet clinics I know just how important it is to be attentive towards our pets! Especially pets with medical issues or issues that are common in certain breeds! With my training I can provide a safe and trusting environment that will let owners feel at ease when they are not home!
“My dog, Ryder, enjoyed his stay with Charlie and his dogs. Charlie was very accommodating. We set up a meet and greet for our dogs and they ended up playing for 2 hours! I was updated daily, however much I requested. I only had to provide food and anything else I specifically wanted to bring. Charlie had an extra kennel and plenty of toys. He did walks with Ryder and made sure he got all that lab energy out. We’re back home now and Ryder’s going to sleep for a few days. He’s worn out from his great weekend!! I’m looking forward to using Charlie and his family again.”

“Penny spent a week with Lindsey and her pack and she seemed to be very happy and content with her stay. Lindsey provided updates every morning and evening, letting me know that Penny had eaten her food and what she had done for the day. She also included pictures in which I could tell Penny was having fun. During her visit it was July 4 and Penny is extremely scared of fireworks. Lindsey made a safe space for Penny and checked on her consistently. I feel that Penny was in good hands with Lindsey and her family. I would not hesitate to leave Penny with Lindsay again!”

“She was such an amazing host to our dog Sutton! She updated us multiple times a day with pictures! He seemed to really enjoy his stay! I would highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Very pleased with our days of boarding our dog with Samantha. Very friendly family, great experience, lots of good communication and pictures. Would highly recommend, and would also reuse this family in the future.”

“It was truly a blessing that Molly was able to stay with them. I received reports on Molly as well as pictures throughout the day. They treated her as one of their own’”

“Susan was a wonderful sitter and I would recommend her to anyone looking for someone who is kind and accommodating to take care of their dog. She sent regular updates that included pictures and made us feel at ease that our dog was being well taken care of. Our dog seemed relaxed and comfortable and had plenty of attention and time outside. Thank you Susan!”

“Aleisha was awesome with GG. GG was GG so that meant lots of love and play time with the other Family Critters. When I picked her up after a week GG was happy, healthy, and CLEAN! What 4 legged girl doesn't like a hot bath after a week of playing and good loving? Thank You Aleisha and Family. JP”

“Graham is wonderful and Phoenix seems to have enjoyed himself immensely...in spite of the unexpected snow. Ha ha!! I really appreciate the pics Graham sent, his communication and flexibility. I will definitely book again!”

“Erica kept our dogs for a full week and we are thrilled and impressed with her care and communication. When she says she’ll treat your dog just like they’re hers, it’s not a cliche. She means it! We have no complaints. Erica exceeded all of our expectations. Ted and Aria love you and so do we. You’re family now.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in AL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
