“Our first time leaving a pet with a sitter outside of our immediate family and Elizabeth did such an amazing job. She came and met Mia in advance to ensure Mia was comfortable and sent great photos and updates throughout our trip. Mia seemed so much happier and more comfortable at home and Elizabeth gave us peace of mind that she was well taken care of!”

“First timers here using rover and we are so happy we found Katherine! She is great with our 10 yo pitbull mix, sent regular updates and photos. It’s so great to have peace of mind your pet is being cared for and spoiled while being away!”

“I had such a great experience! Communication was excellent, and I felt completely at ease knowing my pups were in good hands. I received updates and photos, which meant so much. Highly recommend and would absolutely book again!”

“Lisa was great to work with and was great at communicating while we were on vacation. It was nice to see pictures of our cat and dog being well taken care of while we were gone. Would recommend her for sure.”

“Beth was a fantastic sitter for our slightly wild but very loving pit-mix, Roxie. And our unusually friendly cat, Vegetable. She was extremely communicative and thoughtful sending us lots of nice pictures while we were out of town. Thank you Beth for taking such good care of Roxie and Vegetable (and our house!). I think Roxie is already looking forward to spending more time with you soon!”

“Cari was a fabulous pet sitter. She communicated well and we were very happy with the care she provided our goldendoodle. Definitely will book with her again and recommend others to.”

“We had a very positive experience with Carolina. We were out of town for almost two-weeks. She sent us a video/pictures daily. And we were in communication if needed. Our dog had some challenges coming in and Carolina seemed very experienced and knowledgeable about dogs. She listened, met with us and felt confident that she could watch Tofte. We felt so relieved and comfortable traveling knowing Tofte was in good hands. All went smoothly, Tofte did awesome and credited that to Carolina. We highly recommend Carolina. We will be contacting her in the future.”

“Aida did great with our girl Faye and the updates and pics she sent were so helpful in keeping me calm. This was the first time we ever used Rover and our first time leaving Faye alone since her pup brother crossed the rainbow bridge so I was pretty nervous. If you're thinking about reaching out to Aida, I would say definitely give it a shot! She has a lot of positive and friendly energy that your kiddo will love! Thanks Aida!”

“Noelle did a great job watching my pups for two weeks. I felt like they were in good hands. She did a good job communicating and was very flexible when I initially booked the wrong dates.”

“Tiffany took great care of our pups. She took them on long walks each day, played fetch with them in the backyard, and gave them lots of snuggles. She was also an excellent house guest - she left the house cleaner than when we left and even washed/remade the bed. She was very communicative with us in asking questions and providing updates on the dogs. Very respectful and professional. 10/10 recommend”

“This was our first time having Tanya stay at our home to watch our dogs, and she was absolutely wonderful! She sent us great updates each day and took the best care of our pups and home. She truly cares about the well being of animals which gave us peace of mind that our dogs were in great hands while we were gone. We highly recommend her, and anyone would be lucky to have her sit for them. Thank you so much Tanya. Our dogs loved spending the long weekend with you!”

About: I’ve always been an animal lover and have always had a soft spot for all furry friends. I know every pet has their own personality, routine, and favorite way to spend the day, so I always take the time to get to know what makes them happiest and the most comfortable while away from their best friend! Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cozy naps, or just having someone nearby, I’m happy to match their energy and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. I’ll treat your furry family member like they’re my own and make sure they get plenty of love, attention, and care. I’m reliable, easy to communicate with, and I love taking pictures of these adorable, quirky, animals! My favorite thing growing up was to see picture updates of my dog while on vacation, so I will always do the same for my clients! Pet care fits naturally into my routine! I am working full time, but have a flexible schedule that allows me to plan my day around the pets I’m caring for, whether that means morning walks, midday potty breaks, playtime, feedings, or evening cuddles. I enjoy getting outside, staying active, and spending time with animals, so caring for pets is something I genuinely look forward to. My goal is to keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. No matter where I’m caring for your pet, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I always take the time to learn their routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any special preferences or instructions. In a client’s home, I treat both their pet and their home with the same respect and care I would my own. I’ll keep your pet company, make sure they get plenty of exercise, attention, and affection, and leave your home just as I found it. If I’m caring for a pet in my own home, I’ll provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where they can relax, play, and feel right at home. I’ll also send regular photo updates so you can see how much fun your furry friend is having while you’re away!

“Olivia took wonderful care of our dog, an energetic two-year old pup. She did a wonderful job of staying in touch with me with questions. I would definitely ask her to care for our dog in the future!”

“Dogs were happy and content upon my return! Job well done! Very personable young lady who knows the job well. I have confidence that she can handle whatever difficult situation might come up with the pets!”

“Gretchen was great! Clear and easy communication. We returned to happy pets (2 cats, 1 dog), a clean house and even the sidewalks were shoveled. Thank you, Gretchen!”

“Emily is a loving and responsible caregiver for our aging pup. She provides us with regular reassuring updates and lots of photos. I have 100% confidence Aspen is well cared for when we are away which is why we have booked with her multiple times.”

“Isabella is an amazing pet sitter. She stayed at out house and provided loving care to our aged dog and fiesty cat. She provided pictures and updates so we always knew are pets were doing well. Our house and pets were in great shape when we arrived back home. She is great!”

About: I grew up w/ cats my entire life. 16 years ago I rescued my first dog and had 3 until recently. Both of my rescues were very abused and terrified of everything, I take pride in the fact that I have helped them become amazing, friendly, healthy dogs. My fur babies include 1 senior Shetland sheepdog and a Toy Australian Shepard I trained from a puppy. I also have a Leopard Gecko. I love meeting all new animals and learning everything I possibly can to make their lives awesome. I am currently a stay at home mom so I have plenty of time during the day to play w/ your pets. I am available most week days and occasionally weekends and holidays. I can easily crate your pet as needed. I did/do all my own training an can help w/ basic training needs. If yard is not completely fenced, I always have dogs leashed for safety.

“We have hired Karen to stay with our dogs twice and had a great experience both times. Our dogs were well cared for, and the house was picked up upon our return. Karen has arranged for a friend to come over to let out our dogs mid-day if needed. She is very responsible and I would definitely hire her again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lexington
Taylor left the house better than she found it. My husband and I were getting back from a long roadtrip and came back to washed sheets, towels, and a vacuumed house which is so above and beyond! She was attentive to our dog, Reagan, and walked her when weather allowed. I got updates with pictures and Reagan seemed to really love her. Thank you Taylor!!

We are so grateful to Isaiah for stepping in on such short notice to take care of our puppy, Clu! 🐾 Finding someone we could trust last minute felt stressful, but Isaiah’s calm and caring approach immediately put us at ease. Clu was well cared for, happy, and clearly loved while we were away. We appreciate the updates, the attention to detail, and the genuine kindness Isaiah showed. He even fixed our puppy fence for us and did such a great job! Highly recommend Isaiah to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter! We’ll definitely book again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lexington on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lexington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lexington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lexington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lexington. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
