“Ann is amazing! I felt totally secure that she was watching Biscuit. She gave me updates and even printed a small good boy award to send him home with. If we need to leave him with someone again we know who to call!”

“Working with Megan was great overall. My dog had her own room and access to the backyard. Stella seem to get along well with Megan and her dogs. I was sent regular updates and lots of photos. “Shelly is/was a life saver! My plans changed several times and in the chaos of it all I forgot to confirm the booking.... but Shelly was accommodating and helped put my mind at ease. My dogs are pretty easy going, however I do have one that has seizures sometimes. I felt completely confident in Shelly's ability to handle one if it happened. Keeping Kennedy (my dog) calm helps keep her from having seizures. Shelly's home is warm, calm and comfortable. It was a perfect stay! I will definitely be using her again.”
“Can’t say enough about Aundrea. She and my dog, Mella, connected instantly. Aundrea treated Mella like her own over the few days she stayed over. Aundrea constantly sent pictures and updates on Mella which was very reassuring. She also gave Mella PLENTY of exercise which she loved. Will definitely be using Aundrea again and would recommend her to anyone!”

“Colleen is a very special person. She took great care of my two pups during an unexpected trip. Both pups loved on Colleen and I knew they were being treated like royalty as I received daily photos and knew both pups were being cared for like family. I appreciate Colleen and her family for everything they did for D and R. I highly recommend!”

“First time leaving my dog with anyone other than family so I was anxious to say the least. Thankfully, Ashley was agreeable to a meet and greet before my trip which helped put me at ease. During my trip, she text updates and pics of my girl regularly! This also put me at ease and allowed me to enjoy my time away with friends!”

“Pat was kind, caring, and took exceptional care of my senior dog. I felt completely comfortable leaving Lucy in her care. Will certainly use her again! Her assistant, Ryder, is a bonus, too, as he provides additional love!”

Shelly was really nice, friendly, and a great communicator. Mochi warmed up to her right away! She took lots of pictures of Mochi so we didn't feel like we missed him too much. We had zero problems with her. We’re looking forward to working with her again in the future!

Nelcy was fantastic! She kept our two high-energy Aussies, and everything was great. She sent pictures and updates throughout the week and went out of her way to make our dogs comfortable. We would definitely board with her again in the future and recommend her to other pet parents looking for a reliable sitter.

Natalie was fantastic! Jasper, our 12+ year old Westy , stayed with her for 12 days. She took great care of him ; attending to a problem with his joint issues and was up and down several nights being homesick!! One night she even took him out @230am when he was wining and homesick. With being several thousand miles away she eased our anxiety so we could enjoy our trip!!! Thanks to Natalie , her family and her own Kinley and Regan he truly had a “home away from home”!!! We’ll definitely choose Natalie again!!!

Elizabeth did an amazing job with our two rescues. She was incredibly patient with our new addition and was wonderful about keeping us updated, which really helped ease our rescue anxiety. We truly appreciated her care, kindness, and communication throughout our dogs stay.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
