“Ruth was a perfect pet sitter for our very anxious dog, Rowdy. I was hesitant to book a vacation because I wasn’t sure how he’d do with someone new, but after our meet and greet, my fears went away. Ruth was exactly the calm, quiet person he needed to feel comfortable while we were away. She also handled our 2-year old Frenchie just fine. I’d book her again without hesitation. Would recommend!”

“My husband and I were first-time Rover users and were very nervous about using this app. She was incredibly patient, understanding, and caring with both our pets and with me throughout the entire stay. She handled my questions and check-ins with professionalism and kindness, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while we were away. She stayed at our home and took great care of everything, including both our dog and cat. What stood out most was how comfortable our dog became with her. Luna is usually very cautious around new people and can be nervous around strangers, so seeing her warm up so quickly was huge for us. It was clear that Luna trusted her and felt safe in her care. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pets and a house that had been looked after. We are so grateful for all of her help and the peace of mind she provided during our trip. I would absolutely recommend her and would happily book with her again.”

About: Back in 2023 I got my first job at 16 years old at Pet Suites as a “pet pro” which is a doggy daycare (and cats too) where you can drop your dogs off for the day while you’re at work or board them there while you’re on vacation. I also have done dog sitting outside of that job too, where I would go and take care of families dogs while they were on vacation and stay with the pets at their houses. I also was an active member of the FFA all throughout my high school years where I would raise pigs and show them at different shows. I just completed school and I’m about to go into subbing part-time at a middle school so my schedule is pretty open at the moment! I usually have a good consultation with the pet owners before dog sitting for them where I find out what they’re feeding schedule looks like and other information that would be necessary for me to know and on top of that I usually have them leave me with a list either virtually over the phone or physically on a piece of paper with all the information that I would need.
“Kenya was great. Quick replies when we texted her. She took wonderful care of our pets. Plus the house was clean and looked just as it did when we left for vacation. We will definitely rebook with Kenya in the future!”

“Kellie was able to be a dog whisperer with my little pups! She wore them out and loved on them in the best ways possible during her stay at my home. She communicated well and was reliable and respectful throughout her stay. I adored working with her and will certainly enlist her services again!”

About: What sets me apart from other dog sitters is my unique combination of experience and responsibility. I have previously dog sat for my friends and family, and I’ve had dogs for as long as I can remember. This taught me how to care for a dog’s daily needs, maintain a consistent routine, and provide companionship. In addition, my experience as a babysitter has given me valuable skills that translate directly into dog sitting. Babysitting requires patience, attentiveness, and the ability to keep an environment safe and comfortable qualities that are just as important when caring for dogs. My background shows I am dependable, caring, and able to handle the responsibility of looking after pets with the same dedication I give to children. I am currently working part time at Urban air in Rockwall, so I am available any day as long as you book at least a week in advance! I have three amazing dogs of my own. Caring for them every day has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to make pups feel happy and safe. I understand how much your dog means to you, and I’ll treat them with the same love and attention I give my own. You can trust that your furry friend will be in caring, capable hands with me!
About: I can't remember a time when I did not have a dog in my life. They just bring joy to my life. This is my first time doing the Rover service but I have over 40 years of experience in owning and caring for dogs. I work full-time and travel a lot. So I look forward to weekends to spend time with my wife and dogs. I would love to add your loved one to my weekend routine. I have three dachshunds at home right now. We enjoy spending time together and loving on each other. I have a fenced in yard with plenty of room to run and play. While at your house I will spend time playing with your pet and meeting their daily needs.
“Kyle was a fantastic dog-sitter! He was on-time, attentive, and quick to respond when booking a meet'n'greet, and the official date of his stay. He took great care of our dogs, and was very good about sending pictures and updates during his stay. We will definitely plan to book him again in the future!!!”
“Louann did a great time taking care of our old girl. She arrived on time. She asked important questions. She sent photos and an update daily. We arrived home to a clean house and a happy pup!”

“Chris was awesome. She took wonderful care of our animals and home while we were out of town. She kept us posted with updates and pictures and our cat and dog had a great time with her. I would 100% recommend Chris for animal and house sitting needs.”
About: Hi! I’m Tiana founder of Honey & Hounds Pet Care 🐾🍯 I’m a nurturing, dependable sitter with a background in childcare and a special place in my heart for pets who need gentle, consistent care. I specialize in helping anxious, shy, or routine-loving pets feel safe, calm, and comfortable while their humans are away. Whether I’m staying overnight or stopping in for a walk, your pet will always receive cozy, attentive, and intentional care just like they would at home. ✨ What your pet gets with Honey & Hounds: • A calm, loving presence • Consistent feeding & potty routines • Anxiety-friendly care • Photo & video updates • Clear communication • Respect for your home and your pet’s habits • Plenty of patience and sweetness 🐶🐱 About me: • Background in childcare (I’m trusted with people’s babies and pets) • Experienced with anxious, sensitive, and shy pets • Confident handling routines and instructions • Enjoy creating peaceful, stress-free environments • Fully insured through Rover • Reliable, thoughtful, and detail-oriented • Dogs AND cats welcome 💛 🏡 My care style: I’m all about comfort, structure, and connection. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality and routines so they feel as relaxed as possible while you’re away. From feeding schedules to bedtime habits, I treat your pet like my own. 📅 Holiday & ongoing care: I offer overnight stays, walks, and drop-ins including holiday and extended care (which fills quickly!). Please message early to reserve your dates. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your pet like family and keep you at ease while you’re away, I’d love to meet you and your furry baby! Let’s set up a meet & greet 🐾💛 — Tiana Honey & Hounds Pet Care I work remotely, so I have lots flexibility and lots of time to dedicate to fur friends in need of care, love hugs, and attention. Before We Start • Meet & Greet: I learn your dog’s routines, cues, triggers, and comfort items. We review leash manners, crate habits, feeding/med timing, allergies, meds, and vet info. • Customized Plan: I follow your rules—walk routes, training cues, off-limit furniture/foods, and enrichment style so care feels consistent and safe. Home & Yard Safety • Fenced-In Yard: My yard is fully fenced; I do a quick perimeter check before every play session and keep gates latched/locked. • Supervised Outside Time: No unsupervised yard time. I’m always outside with your dog, watching for digging, fence testing, or wildlife. • Secure Entry/Exit: Doors and gates are closed before leashes come off. I use a “wait” cue at thresholds to prevent door dashing. Leash & Walk Protocols • Double-Check Gear: I confirm fit on collars/harnesses and use a secure clip leash (no retractables for safety). For strong pullers, I’m comfortable with front-clip harnesses. • Controlled Routes: I choose calm routes, avoid tight dog-to-dog greetings, and keep a safe distance from potential triggers (bikes, scooters, reactive dogs). • Weather-Smart Walks: I adjust duration/pace for heat/cold, check paw pads, and provide water breaks. In high heat, we stick to shade/grass and earlier or later outings. Indoor Care & Calm • Constant Vigilance: I’m a naturally watchful caregiver (and a preschool teacher!), so I anticipate needs, redirect unsafe behaviors, and keep environments tidy and hazard-free. • Safe Setups: Trash is secured; food, plants, and chewable cords are out of reach. If you use a crate or playpen, I follow your routine to create a calm, predictable space. • Enrichment with Boundaries: Mental games, sniffaris, and puzzle feeders are supervised and chosen to match your dog’s size and chew strength. Health & Hygiene • Clean Bowls & Surfaces: Fresh water at all times; bowls and mats wiped daily. I wash hands between pets and after handling food. • Medication Handling: I give meds exactly as directed and log doses/times. I’ll reach out immediately if anything seems off. • Watchful Monitoring: I track appetite, energy, stools, and behavior changes and update you with what I observe. - just a few things I do
“Alexis house sat my 7 year old, anxious and energetic German shepherd this weekend and was super helpful in easing my mind with regular updates and pictures while I was away. She paid extra attention to detail by notifying me of a thunderstorm ahead of time to see if my dog needed any special care! Super caring and trustworthy dog sitter, will definitely request her help again in the future!!”

“This was our first experience using Rover and it was great. We have two dogs, one of which is sometimes anxious, so we didn't want to board them in a strange environment. Keri did a great job taking care of them and was even willing to feed and water our chickens and collect eggs.”

“Alexa did a great job house sitting for 2 dogs and 2 cats. Everything was well maintained, communication was constant, and there were no surprises when we arrived back home. Really great sitter, would highly recommend.”

“Amanda absolutely blew me away with how she took care of my three dogs. She communicated with lots of pictures and videos always answered texts. She gave my babies lots of love. She has become my new favorite ❤️”

“Sarah was exceptional. I honestly couldn’t be more pleased with the care she provided for our dogs. We have a Dutch Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix and a Chihuahua mix, and she did an amazing job with both of them. She was incredibly thorough, communicative, and responsive throughout the entire stay. She sent some absolutely incredible pictures that gave us peace of mind and showed just how comfortable and happy our dogs were in her care. Unfortunately, our dogs decided to be a little naughty while we were away and made quite a mess. Sarah cleaned up everything without complaint and went above and beyond what I would ever expect from a dog sitter. That level of dedication and care says a lot about the kind of person she is. I can’t say enough good things about her. She treated our dogs like they were her own, and it was obvious she genuinely cared about them. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, dependable, and caring to watch your pets, I highly recommend Sarah. We will absolutely be booking with her again”

“We cannot say enough wonderful things about Kristie! She took absolutely incredible care of our three dogs and treated them like they were her own. It gave us such peace of mind knowing they were not only safe and well cared for, but genuinely loved while we were away. Kristie also looked after our home with the same level of care and attention. Everything was spotless and exactly as we left it when we returned. On top of that, she was unbelievably flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed at the last minute. She handled everything with professionalism, kindness, and zero stress. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and truly compassionate to care for your pets and home, Kristie is the absolute best. We would recommend her without hesitation and can’t wait to book her again!”

Mike and I cannot thank Kellie enough for her exceptional care of our three pups and home while we were away. Upon the first meeting with our finicky dogs, all three loved her and she them. We and the dogs look forward to Kellie’s future returns! We cannot say enough about how comforted we are knowing our pups are well loved and cared for by Kellie.

As first timers to the concept of in house pup sitting last November, we were nervous to take this leap, but we connected with Kellie and not only were we comfortable, but our three pups all LOVE her, so much so that were so excited when she returned for a second weekend stay this past weekend. Kellie is wonderful not only with our pups, but with us. We look forward to her third visit. Thank you Kellie for loving our pups and for your great care of the house. You are a GEM!

Aneesa house sat my cat for a few nights over Christmas and did a fantastic job! She took great care of my cat and my home while I was away. My cat has FIC, and Aneesa did a great job managing her stress - she administered liquid gabapentin for the first couple days, but my cat warmed up to her quickly and she didn’t need it beyond that. Aneesa gave Zoloft lots of playtime, kept her food and water full, and cleaned her litterboxes. Aneesa kept me updated the entire time and sent tons of cute pictures of Zoloft - she was really responsive and professional throughout the entire process. We will absolutely have Aneesa back again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Lavon on Rover is $36.51 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 3,526 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Lavon. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lavon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lavon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lavon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lavon. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
