“This was the first time I have ever used this app/service and Taylor was absolutely amazing and quick to respond (which was amazing as my request was same day). She was so patient and gentle with my dog as he can be very wary/scared of strangers, but she did a great job of giving him time to warm up to her! I could tell he was absolutely ready for a nap after the walk.”

About: I like dogs more than I like people! So, your pup will certainly be treated like one of my very own! They'll get lots of love while you're away! My work schedule is pretty flexible, but my schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm, and I am off weekends. So, I will have plenty of time to spend with your fur bestie! I’m your pet’s favorite pet sitter! Whether they like to play outside or prefer to just relax on the couch and watch tv… I’m more than happy, as long as they are happy!
“Alexandra is the best.My dog paced the floor excited when she knew she was on the way. Very friendly and reliable and tolerated my pulling dog. She helped me tremendously on short notice. My GSP Sadie enjoyed her walking adventures. I trust Alexandra with any pet needs and will be using her in the future!”

“Wesley was fantastic with our pups! Working 12hr shifts it can be challenging to find someone to check on and walk my two mini poodles, so I am very thankful Wesley was able to make time for them! Wesley also took the time amidst a busy schedule to meet the fur family which really helped😊🫶🙌”

“Jenna, she went above and beyond her duties as a dog walker. She was very kind to Trevor, who is kennel anxiety dog. That has been in Hanover County animal shelter for way too long so this beautiful vibrant, sweet sweet dog they decided to euthanize so I have been walking him so that he won’t have kennel. Anxiety and Jen was a wonderful part of this. thank you so much and a shout out to Jenna”

About: I have over a year of hands-on experience working with dogs as a pet care boarding associate and a dog groomer. I truly enjoy what I do and take pride in making pets feel safe and comfortable. Friends trust me to care for their pets, which speaks to my reliability and genuine love for animals. Aside from professional experience- i’ve grown up with cats and whole lot of animals (chickens, sheep) and loved them all deeply:) I’m currently working part time and I am also a student. However, I still have extra time on my hands to care for your pups and kittys especially since summer is coming up! I can stop by your house and care for your pets and if I have time I can sit for a little and keep them company for awhile. I can give your fur baby attention, love, and care (feeding, walks, going potty, etc). Since i’ve had some professional experience I can try to earn a dogs trust if they’re a little bit anxious along with remaining calm and giving them some time to open up!
“Absolutely amazing! Her communication was excellent from start to finish, and she kept me updated with plenty of pictures and videos, which I really appreciated. She truly went above and beyond by making an extra trip to ensure my dog was well taken care of, and that meant so much to me. During the heat wave, she was also very mindful of protecting his paws and making sure he stayed safe and comfortable. It was clear she cared for him like he was her own, and my dog absolutely loved her. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such great hands, and I would trust her with him again without hesitation. I highly recommend her!”

About: My name is Brittney, and I have 8 years of experience as a veterinary assistant in routine and emergency care. I left the veterinary field to pursue other interests, but I missed working with animals so much I began doing pet care on the side. I enjoy taking care of all kinds of pets, and each pet I care for has a special paw print on my heart. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you think I’d be a good fit for you and your furry friend! I work part-time currently so that I can continue to spend time working with animals! I recently moved to VA and have only recently started pet sitting again so I have time on my schedule! I am experienced in giving all different types of diets and medications as well as walking/sitting all different sizes and breeds of dogs/cats. I also know cats and dogs can take some time to warm up to new people in their environment so I take care to go at your pets pace 😊
About: I have five years of professional dog care in many different spheres. I have previously managed two different kennels, groomed many dogs around Richmond, and am K9-CPR certified. I have experience training puppies, adults, and seniors basic obedience, leash manners, and beginner agility. I am well versed in administering medications. Prior to working with dogs as a career, I have experience caring for many dogs over my life, from family pets to petsitting in the neighborhood. I am happy to provide enrichment activities for your animal as well, such as bubble play, doga (dog yoga), or drives to hiking locations. I have also recently taken a course on dog massage! I am committed to being completely available for any of your pet needs! My main focus is comfortable care for your critter, no matter how early or late that may be. I feel that years of experience in caring for animals who are being boarded, hanging out at daycare, or getting a stylish spa day have taught me so much in how to interact and build trust with many animals no matter the situation. I believe a combination of patience, kindness, intuition, and some snackos can really foster a safe, positive environment for everybody.
“Shelby walked my dog daily for over a week while I was unable. She was always on time, responsible, friendly to my dog, and communicative. I recommend her as a dog walker.”

“Amy to the rescue! Our normal dog walker was suddenly hospitalized and we were able to book Amy on short notice (less than 24 hours). We are so glad we did! She came over to meet our pup and had a few questions for us. She was very responsive and sent a little recap of the walk, the walk details, and amazing pictures. Would definitely recommend!”

“Brandi is very reliable, caring towards my dog and accommodating. She also helped us to better understand the Rover app and how to utilize all its features. I would highly recommend her.”
About: Hi! I am a teacher, lifelong animal lover, and proud golden retriever mom. I also have a wonderful cat named Miles and previously cared for my beloved soul cat Rosie who passed away from heart disease. Because of Rosie, I have extensive hands-on experience giving cats multiple types of medication several times a day, including pills and liquids. I am very comfortable supporting pets who need extra medical care, gentle handling, and consistent routines. I am 29 years old and live in the Henrico area. I grew up on a farm, so caring for animals has always been a natural part of my life. I have grown up with big dogs, small dogs, and cats of all personalities. That lifelong experience has shaped me into a calm, safe, responsible, and deeply compassionate caregiver. As a current teacher and someone who loves animals with all my heart, I bring patience, positivity, and reliability into every visit. I am very flexible and easy to work with, and I will always go above and beyond to ensure you and your pet feel completely comfortable with the care I provide. Whether your pet needs playtime, snuggles, structured walks, medication support, or simply a loving presence while you are away, I am here to help. Please feel free to reach out with any questions about me or the type of care I can offer. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your furry family member soon. I am a teacher and a dog and cat mom. I offer flexibility and reliability during the summer months to walk, check in, pet and house sit. I live in house with a fenced back yard in close proximity to Bryant Park. The street I live on is particular quiet with minimal car traffic. I also have a dog who is very friendly and loves other dogs. I have a cat as well and he is a friendly kitty who gets along with everyone (including high energy pups). I can easily crate your dog if that is how you prefer them to sleep!
“Shannon was huge help walking our dog Nora after my foot surgery. She was responsible, communicative, and took some cute pictures of Nora during their walks! We will definitely book again.”

About: I love dogs and would love to have yours keep me company while I work from home! I'm a software developer, I LOVE the outdoors, hiking, running, walking, rain or snow, I will be out and about with your pet tiring them out to the best of my ability in my free time. I have experience walking/caring for both dogs and cats, and walking more than one dog at a time. I check my phone and email regularly so I can always be contacted when needed and will send you updates and photos while you’re away. I am trustworthy, dependable, and punctual so you can count on me to care for your pet as if they are my own. I can't wait to meet your pet and love on them 💜 I’m working from home so I will be able to give your dog 24/7 supervision and love (except for when I run to the grocery store). I work a 9am-5pm and usually go on two walks a day, one around lunch and one after work. If I have your dog over the weekend I’d love to take them on a hike if they’re able. I have a split level home so your dog will need to be able to climb steps or weigh less than 50 lbs in which case I will carry them. I have a smaller yard that I can take them out to on a leash or lead and live in a walkable neighborhood.
“Absolutely all the positive feedback! Tori was so professional and took such good care of my dog. I’m planning on using her again in the future and already have plans set up. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for pet care.”

Steven has helped us a few times now. He is always extremely responsive, responsible and the dogs love him! (The cats don't talk as much but I'm pretty sure they think he's fine.) We are so grateful to have Steven to help us. He took our oldest dog out for a walk by herself and then came back and got the other, more rambunctious ones!

He did a good job caring for our fur baby. His times was earlier or later than requested however it work out. Curly didn't have any accidents while we was away. Curly like him from the moment he met him. Hope to book him for our next getaway. To be able to trust someone while away is great feeling. Thank you

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
