“As always, Bo had a fun afternoon at John’s! To be honest, John is the only sitter I feel safe and comfortable leaving Bo . He KNOWS Bo, he KNOWS dogs , no matter what type or the personality of your dog , he knows how to handle them ! Bo is high energy, wants a lot of attention, loves to play …..and John figured him out after day one ! Not everyone can handle that combination…John 100% does . He is definitely a true dog whisperer and Bo adores him …”

About: From reptiles to horses, i've been working in animal hospitals, hotels, petsitting and rescues for more than half my life. Love every type of animal and treat them always like my own. I have been in this industry for about 18years. It’s truly a passion of mine to ensure the best care is provided and to give owners peace of mind when they have to leave their pets or be able to help those who have never had to care for a hurt/sick fur baby. I have an American bully named Apex, a cat named Whiskey, 2 conures and a ball python. I am no stranger to the care and comfort needs of all breeds and species of animals. They are all loved and cared for diligently to make sure they feel at home and comfortable in any surrounding
About: I have been watching and taking care of friends/family dogs for years and have raised my own since he was a 8 weeks old. I can clip nails, bath give ear/eye treatments if ever needed. I work remotely from home for the most part and would only accept to care if I am home that day. I have a 30 lb Klee Kai mix at home who would accompany your pet on walks/play time and naps. Walks would be about every 2-3 hours for potty breaks. For extra outdoor play time we could go out on the large patio on my floor. Pets are allowed to hang out and nap on couch
“Theresa was a great dog sitter very attentive and caring. She sent updates, which I really appreciated, and my pup was clearly happy and well taken care of.She didn’t even want to leave when I picked her up! I would definitely use her again.”

“Jennifer is amazing!! It’s my first time using Rover for my puppy and she put all my nerves at ease. She sent daily pictures and updates which I really appreciated. Noodle can’t wait to go back! Thank you again Jennifer!”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, from puppies to senior dogs. I currently own four dogs: two adult Belgian Malinois, a German Shepherd puppy, and a senior Shih Tzu mix. I have crate trained and potty trained multiple puppies and am familiar with the time, patience, and consistency required for successful training. Through caring for both high-energy working breeds and senior dogs, I have experience managing different exercise needs, routines, temperaments, and levels of care. I am committed to providing a safe, structured, and positive environment for every dog in my care. I am home most of the time and provide full-time care for the dogs in my home. Because I am available throughout the day, dogs receive regular supervision. I have a securely fenced yard where dogs can safely go outside for potty breaks and exercise. I am comfortable reinforcing crate training when needed and believe crates are a valuable tool for safety and routine. My own dogs are crate trained and are crated when they cannot be directly supervised to ensure their safety and prevent unwanted behaviors. I provide a structured, safe, and supervised environment while making sure each dog receives plenty of attention, care, and opportunities to play and relax.
“We have left Lexi with Alicia and her family several times now for both doggy day care and two week long boarding and we could not be happier! Our dog is not a fan of other dogs at all and Alicia is always very accommodating to make sure she will be the only dog in the house. They have a huge yard for her to run around in, there is always someone home to keep her company, and they always send us multiple pictures everyday so we can see how she is doing throughout the day. We very highly recommend Alicia and we'll definitely be using her again.”

“Marcia took amazing care of our Golden Retriever Kennedy! Highly recommend and would love for her to watch Kennedy again. Kennedy had so much fun playing in their lovely yard and came home happy and tired!”

“Dawn was very nice.. very professional.. I would definitely recommend her for your dog.you can tell she loves all animals.. first time I used her.. And will again use her for Stevie.”

“I am very happy to write a 5☆review for Dan and Denise. I first met them in July 2017.I had inquired about their services for my previous dog and loved what I saw. Unfortunately, my Dog suddenly passed away and I did not use them . I did however save their contact information and now 9 months later , I have a new puppy. As soon as I needed daycare I called them up. Bruno spent a full day with them in their house and parklike backyard. He had a great stay and will be coming back on a regular basis. I am very happy with the care he received !”

“Isabella was wonderful! This was our first time using Rover and she made us feel so comfortable with leaving our puppy with a new person. She sent consistent photos and updates the entire time which was really great. Our pup looked so happy and comfortable and he had a blast during his time with her. Would definitely recommend, and we will definitely be returning. We would trust her with our pup any day!”

“I can’t say enough great things about Veronique and Jonathan! They were amazing with my puppy, Oakley, providing her with exceptional doggy day care. They kept her active, engaged, and ensured she was well taken care of throughout the day. It was such a relief to know Oakley was in loving, capable hands. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for top-notch care!”

I love all animals and will feed any stray that comes to my door as well! I will care for and treat your pets as if they were my own. I work from home so I am available to take care of your babies while you are at work, out of the house or away on vacation I have a large fenced in yard, I love to go on walks and am responsible and respectful when in other peoples homes. I will care for your animals with as much love and care as you would. I will follow your pets routine and care for them as my own.
“Amber was amazing—truly a lifesaver for a last-minute daycare! She took great care of Miller and kept me updated throughout the day, which gave me so much peace of mind. I 100% recommend her, and Miller can’t wait to go back for more fun!”

“From the very first meeting with Ginia and her sweet dog Bella I knew my Mikki would be very much well at home and very well taken care of...I have booked 2 days/week daycare over 9 weeks this summer with Ginia and her dog Bella and honestly could not be happier! Mikki is very excited, wagging her tail when Ginia comes to greet us in the morning when I drop her off early before having to catch my train. Ginia is extremely personable, accommodating with my schedule and affectionate with my Mikki. I also get regular updates throughout the day. I am really so appreciative to have found Ginia and I trust her completely.”

“From the moment we dropped Nessa off until the time we picked her up, we were pleasantly surprised by how completely at home she felt with Marla. Normally, Nessa is very apprehensive when meeting new people, new animals, or even visiting a new place. But from the moment Marla opened the door, our normally shy and hesitant little girl ran right into the house to greet Marla and all of her pets. To say my husband and I were shocked would be an understatement! Watching Nessa happily run off to play filled this mom and dad with so much joy. While we were attending our niece’s wedding, we kept checking our phones, fully expecting a call or text saying Nessa was crying or looking for us. That message never came—because she was apparently having the time of her life! When we returned to pick her up, Nessa was excited to show us all of her new friends. It was obvious she had been well cared for and truly enjoyed her stay. We could tell that Marla treated Nessa as if she were one of her own, and there is no greater compliment we could give. We only wish Marla lived in Connecticut instead of New York. Finding someone who genuinely loves and cares for your pet as though they were part of their own family is incredibly rare, and we would trust her with Nessa again in a heartbeat.”

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
