“So grateful to have found Erin! She was so wonderful with my two dogs over the holidays! She sent me several updates throughout the day & left my home spotless. She has such a warm spirit & loved on my boys so well while I was traveling. I can’t recommend her enough!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have experience caring for pets for family, friends, and neighbors. As a college student and athlete, I’m dependable, responsible, and active, so your pets will get plenty of attention, exercise, and care. Whether it’s feeding, walks, playtime, or keeping them company, I’ll treat your pets like they’re my own and make sure they feel safe and loved while you’re away. I’m a full-time college student with a mix of online and in-person classes, which gives me flexibility throughout the week. I also play collegiate soccer, but I plan my schedule carefully and update my availability regularly. I’m available for pet sitting, drop-in visits, and walks during my free time, as well as many evenings and weekends. I’ll always communicate clearly to make sure your pet gets the care and attention they deserve. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities. I will follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medication instructions, and any special requests to help them feel comfortable. I’ll provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and updates with photos so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always keep their well-being first.

“We were so happy to have Erika come stay with our dog! She was professional, easy to work with, and clearly loves taking care of dogs. She sent frequent photos and updates, and was quick to respond to our texts. And her flexible schedule meant our dog didn’t need to be left for any long stretches. We look forward to having Erika come back again!”

“Jennifer was fantastic! Bill had a blast with her and she kept the house in great shape. Would highly recommend having Jennifer watch your pets / house!”

“Angela was amazing! She took great care of our dog, three cats and chickens. We are always nervous to leave our little family behind when we travel, but Angela was very responsive and we knew they were safe and in good hands. We'll be going to Angela for help whenever we can. We cannot recommend her enough!”

“Jenna was great. Super communicative, very attentive during the meet and greet, and sent regular updates for both my pets. I would definitely have her house sit again!”

“Maryn is amazing! She took great care of my boy while I was away for the week. I appreciated her updates and communication while I was away and will definitely reach out again for her services in the future.”

“Wow- Regan did a fantastic job taking care of our two dogs and our house while we were away. He was a fantastic communicator with daily check ins and photos of the dogs. Even helped with a few house tasks. We’d definitely work with him again.”

“Emma stayed with my cat Patrick for a week while I was in another state for work. Patrick needs some special attention and takes daily medication. She did a great job making sure he was taking care of and comfortable! Additionally, she communicated with me well and made sure to send me some pictures every day!”

About: I’ve been taking care of animals since I was a young child. I have experience with puppies, large and small dogs, and cats too. I house sit for all of my friends when they leave town. Whether it’s stopping by to check on kitties or staying in home to watch the pups, I’ve done it all! I just love animals and enjoy taking care of them. I am a full time student in Lawrence, KS and also work as a part-time float medical assistant around the Kansas City Metro Area. I work on Mondays and Fridays from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (This is the maximum amount time I would be away from your pet). My classes are on Tuesdays 9:30 AM - 3:15 PM and Thursdays 12:00 PM - 4:30 PM out in Lawrence, KS. I’m essentially off on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays. I will make myself available as possible for your beloved pet within these limitations. I cannot offer care in my house, all care provided would either be outside (for walks/play) or inside your home. I can offer to either come by at your requested times or I can stay in-home during your leave.
“This was my first rover experience and Monica was so communicative with photos of Charlie during the weekend which was awesome! Had such a great experience and I know Charlie did too!”

“Kelsey was wonderful. She followed our instructions to the letter - our dog is on medications, on a strict schedule, so this is very important. She was extremely conscientious in sending pics, watering our plants, and otherwise caring for both our pet and our house. Kelsey is also very pleasant and easygoing...Best of all, our dog loves her! We highly recommend her, and intend to engage her services again.”

“Shantanice was amazing! She took excellent care of our home and kept us updated with plenty of photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. Our dogs clearly loved her and were so happy and well cared for when we returned. We would absolutely hire her again without hesitation!”

“Thomas was amazing with our animals. So loving and kind, they were happy and healthy when we returned. He also took immaculate care of our apartment, it was clean and tidy when we returned!”

“Jennifer came to dogsit for us for the day. She went above and beyond all our expectations. So communicative, went through all our instructions, and really took the best care of our dogs. They were absolutely spoiled. She even managed to get our very anxious, afraid of the world dog to go out on walks, something we often struggle with. Jennifer was phenomenal! I would highly recommend her and look forward to using her again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kansas City
Lauren was a fantastic sitter! Communication was great whether it was asking questions or letting me know how my critters were doing. I could tell Rags (Brussels) and Clyde (Jardine) were well taken care of the week I was gone. Would highly recommend Lauren for pet care and will be using her again in the future.

Regan was awesome. We were so relieved to have him on the job, and able to relax about both our pets and our home and posessions. He is perfect, and we will try to use him again, if he’s still doing this (he has a pretty glowing future ahead of him in the medical field), by the time we need a sitter again.
I was so lucky to find Brenna!! She completed an in home sit for my two dogs and left them happy and the house spotless. She was a great communicator throughout, sending photos and regular updates. Nothing was better than coming home to fresh sheets, and she even left me a delicious homemade casserole for my first day back, which was such a lifesaver so I didn’t have to prioritize grocery shopping and food prep. Thank you so much, Brenna!!

100000% would rebook! Sally was amazing, incredible, perfect!! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter. She stays with my dogs for 4 nights and my dogs were soo happy! She sent lots of photos and both my dogs were smiling and relaxing in each photo! Sally also left my house spotless and went above and beyond with cleaning!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Kansas City on Rover is $40.93 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,571 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kansas City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kansas City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kansas City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kansas City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Kansas City. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
