About: Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m a 4th grade teacher spending this summer at home full-time. I wanted to do something I really enjoy and that lead me here to Rover! About: Hi there! I’m a proud dog parent to a sweet female Cocker Spaniel who’s been part of my family since June 2025. She’s playful, affectionate, and full of personality, caring for her has taught me so much about patience, consistency, and how to make dogs feel happy and secure. I also dog-sit my in-laws’ Maltese-Shih Tzu from time to time, so I’m comfortable with different breeds, sizes, and temperaments. Whether it’s a social butterfly or a more laid-back pup, I always adjust to what makes each dog feel most at ease. I currently work from home most of the time, which means I’m around throughout the day to give your pup plenty of attention, supervision, and walks. My community has lots of grassy areas that are perfect for quick potty breaks, strolls, or playtime. It’s a calm, pet-friendly environment where dogs can feel relaxed and safe. (I live in a two-level townhouse, which allows me to separate dogs if needed, whether for feeding, rest time, or just to help a shy pup feel comfortable.)

About: Hi, I am currently a nursing student at UNR! I have had dogs my whole life so I understand the commitment and responsibility it takes to have a dog. I have a small dog currently who I rescued about 5 years ago. She was abandoned at a dog boarding place :,(. I will respect any training regimens you have in place! I love dogs and understand them so dogsitting is truly enjoyable for me. I can provide recommendations as needed! I understand it can be hard to trust people with your precious pets so let me know if there’s anything I can do to ease your mind! I am a student at Orvis nursing school, UNR which means I have classes and a 13 hr clinical shift on Fridays. I try not to schedule on Fridays unless owners are aware of my schedule. I will be fully upfront with you about my availability and how it interacts with your pet’s needs! Message me for clarification or questions! I have a fenced yard with lots of squirrels to chase and pet safe plants! I have a little dog who is friendly but not always energetic. I’ve never had any issues with pet sitting other dogs with her but if they interact, I’d like for them to meet beforehand. At your home I will of course respect any rules you have for me or your dogs. My dog does not need to come with me. I have raised dogs and understand the importance to maintain training regimens so I can do that. However, it is not my place to enforce these if you have not asked, I will respect the way you raise your fur baby!

Cathy was just great, providing 2 visits per day for my elderly Kitty. She is compassionate, attentive, sent pictures & updates & followed some specific directions re meds and routine that I had left for her. She was a relief. Having a capable, reliable sitter relieved my anxiety about leaving Kitty at all. Thank you, Cathy!

Erin was respectful in our home and followed all of our instructions. We really appreciated that she made an effort to connect with Lily and earn her trust, even though she knew Lily was very shy and skittish. Erin provided detailed daily report cards that gave us peace of mind and reassured us that Lily was in good hands. We would definitely recommend Erin to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

I had such a great experience with Ivy! She took amazing care of my cat! I got lots of updates and photos, which made me feel so at ease while I was away. You can tell she genuinely cares, my cat absolutely loved her. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and kind sitter 🐾

Ruth-Lee is hands down "awesome"! We had a short notice trip Thanksgiving weekend and Ruth-Lee was able to fit us into her already busy schedule. My daughters can be tough critics, especially when it comes to the care of Gizmo. Their expectations were exceeded and more! They received daily check-ins and pics of their fur-baby safe and sound. Ruth-Lee taking care of Giz allowed the girls to relax and enjoy our trip. A life saver! Thank you Ruth-Lee!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
