About: I've had pets my whole life. It started with the kitten I found in the empty lot next to my home when I was just a little kid. I had multiple types of cats and dogs my whole life, occasionally taking in strays. Friends and family used to call me an animal whisperer because even the most shy pets would let me meet them. I'm super gentle with animals, respect their "person"-hood, but at the same time I'm a big guy and can easily walk your big dog. I had a German Shepherd/Lab mix, as well as a Belgium Malinois (not at the same time!). I took both through pet training courses. I also had a King Charles spaniel that I adopted. I had 3 main cats throughout my life, though several found/rescued ones throughout. My last cat had asthma and I had to give it an inhaler, so I have experience administering medication (I've had to give shots at various times as well). I work from home with a fairly flexible schedule. I can slip away from a walk almost any time, though I do have occasional meetings I need to attend. I have daily meetings at 11am which usually don't last more than 15-30 mins. I'm happy to follow whatever rules you have in place for your pets. The time I spend with them can be a nice changeup in their routine, to give them something to look forward to. I understand that pets feel like kids to some of us, and will always keep their joy and safety in mind.
“Iwonka has been a great help to us while we are adjusting to a new puppy! The days we are all out of the house, we know we can count on her to come take care of our puppy. She provides great feedback, cleans up puppy messes, and has been always available when needed. Thank you so much!!!”

“Laura did a wonderful job with Skylar. She is extremely conscientious; went above and beyond cleaning up a mess and watering plants. But most importantly, I was confident Sky was in good hands and having some fun play time too! Can't wait to use her services again!”

“Rachael was very communicative & patient. She helped to alleviate any anxieties I had while traveling away from my senior cat. She sent lots of photos & kept me in the loop about my cat’s behavior, eating patterns, and overall mood. 10/10 service, glad i already have her booked for my next vacation!”

“A fantastic dog sitter…was our first time with Alyssa and she delivered everything we asked for and more! Super prompt, great “report cards” and such cute pictures. Will hire her again and again!”

About: I've loved dogs my whole life and have owned three of my own, giving me firsthand experience with their daily care, exercise, and companionship. In addition to caring for my own pets, I've looked after dogs and cats for family members, friends, and neighbors. I also have cared for two mini doodles for several weeks over the past few summers, along with the families pet lizard and guinea pig. Additionally, I regularly volunteer at a local animal shelter, where I walk and play with dogs of all sizes and help feed and socialize cats. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and am committed to making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you're away. I am currently working part time, so I will have plenty of time to check in on your pets throughout the day! I can also take your dogs out for walks, multiple times a day if needed. I will follow instructions you leave to make sure I am giving your pets everything they need. I have no problem taking dogs to dog parks or for long walks depending on their needs.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs for the last 7-8 years for my family, friends, and neighbors. They have trusted me with walking, feeding, and overall loving their furry friends! When my family first got our dog in 2020, I assisted in training him and learning how to take care of a puppy. I have also helped to take care of my roommates pet dog and cat in these last few months as well! During the summer of 2024, my dog suddenly went paralyzed and lost function of his back legs. We had to learn how to take care of him and walk him using unconventional ways, while teaching him how to learn to walk again, so I have experience with a dog who has been partially disabled (but he has regained his ability to walk and is doing great!!) I recently graduated from Miami University, Ohio with my masters degree in speech-language pathology. I just moved back to Illinois and am looking to do some dog walking and pet care/love this summer before starting a new job in the schools this upcoming August as a speech-language pathologist. I will adhere to any requests that the client has. I am willing to put them in their crates, give them treats, play with them in the yard, or go for a nice long walk with them. It really comes down to the clients preference and I will stick to their normal routine!!
“Elizabeth was great! She took care of our cat while we were gone for the weekend. She was very communicative and clearly took great care of our cat. Highly recommend!”

About: What sets me apart is that I genuinely treat every pet like a member of my own family. I understand that every animal has a unique personality, routine, and comfort level, so I take the time to get to know them and provide individualized care. I'm dependable, attentive, and committed to keeping pets happy, safe, and comfortable while their owners are away. Whether it's playtime, walks, cuddles, medication schedules, or simply providing companionship, I make sure each pet gets plenty of love and attention. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind while you're away. During summertime I have more flexibility, however, during the school year I work as a school bus driver, so it allows me to care for your pet during my Monday breaks as well I have taken care of pets for friends and family for years and have 2 of my own doggies, so I am well experienced to provide great care for your pets in the comfort of their own home.
“Amanda has been great very reliable and excellent communication she lets out my dog birdie 5 days a week and it’s such a relief knowing my dog is getting some exercise and attention while I’m at work. I’ve noticed birdie isn’t as hyper when I get home from work I will continue my service with Amanda as long as she is available thanks again Amanda”

“Madeline did an amazing job taking care of my dog. She was patient and even stayed longer to make sure he was okay during a storm. She did an awesome job communicating and sent great updates! Five out of five!”
About: Hi there! I am so excited to finally be making my pet-sitting official with Rover. I am still new-ish to the area after having moved back in with my parents a little less than a year ago (originally from New Jersey, then moved to California for college and work). I have had the pleasure of taking care of my family dog (Winnie the Cavapoo) since we got her 9 years ago. Hanging out with her is one of my favorite things to do, and she truly makes each day better with every walk we go on and every cuddle we share. I've also gotten to dog-sit for some of my best friends and locals while I was in college, and it really helped me whenever I was missing my Winnie girl! My only hope is to provide you with peace of mind that your pup is in good hands with me! My schedule is pretty wide open and flexible! If there is a time/day on my schedule that looks unavailable, message me and I'll see if I can move things around to make it work (as I share a car with a family member). If you need me to come over and pet-sit at your home, I will respect all the rules you provide me with so you are comfortable with having me in your home while I watch your fur baby. Please let me know in advance to your booking if your pet is allowed on furniture, or in certain areas of your home, and what/where are absolute no-go's, so I can remember to keep them away from those areas. If you use a crate with them, please let me know how you use it with them - if they must be crated the entirety of time while indoors aside from meal and potty times, or if for certain periods of time. If you have a backyard that is fenced and secure, I am comfortable with letting them of their leash (if you permit it) so they have free reign to run around, but if it is not an enclosed space, I am not comfortable letting them off their leash, even if they are trained perfectly - just want to be safe and take all the precautions I can to make sure they are safe while with me!
About: I've done around 100 hours of volunteering for various animal shelters, including Animal House Shelter here in Huntley. I've done shifts of dog walking, dealing with a few more energetic dogs. I've also done handling and transport for events, so I feel confident with handling dogs that maybe aren't the most well-adjusted or behaved, as well as cleaning up after dogs. I've also done work with cats, at the shelter doing feedings of dry and wet food, cleaning out litter boxes, clipping nails/brushing, and socializing and having done a few cat-sitting gigs for neighbors. I'm currently looking for another part time job this summer, but until then I am available most of the time so I can be flexible with scheduling. I'm an all-around animal lover, and want to keep your pets entertained and enriched for their joy and their health. Even though I have asthma, I have really good physical stamina and can walk and play for a while. I'm very timely and will give your pet the utmost attention and care because I've seen firsthand how much proper care can improve their lives. I'm excited to meet you and help out your pet in any way I can!
About: I've often thought about how best to care for my pets when I go out of town. I would want them to be with someone who is loving and makes them feel as if they were with their owner. I would treat your pet the same way I treat mine, with love, care, and attention they need and deserve. We have a fenced yard, neighborhood sidewalks, and nearby walking. I'm super active and into health and fitness. I do crossfit during the week. "A dog is this only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself" I’m currently a stay at home mom to an 2yo, 8yo, and a 6mo puppy. I’ve grew up with dogs in my household. My schedule is pretty much open from 10am- 5pm. I have a fenced in yard and one friendly dog to keep your fur baby company. My dog is trained to be out of the cage while I’m gone. I am more then happy to crate your fur baby while I leave my house to do daily errands.

“Hannah is so good to our fur babies! She is reliable and flexible and has come in last minute for those surprise bookings that most pet parents come across. We appreciate Miss Hannah and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a loving caregiver for their pets.”

“Morgan did an awesome job taking care of my 4 cats. She dropped in every day in the scheduled timeframe and ensured the cats were fed, their boxes cleaned and spent time with them. She even cleaned when one of the kitties threw up.”

I needed an emergency sitter on very short notice, and Ji was amazing. Ji was responsive, communicative, and reassuring the entire time, which meant the world to me during a really stressful day. Knowing my pups were safe, happy, and well cared for gave me so much peace of mind. I’m incredibly grateful for their help and would absolutely book with them again.

Lyssa is amazing with my puppy and working around my ever changing schedule. She is always on time and I never have to worry about my pup. The pictures she sends of my puppy during the visits, my dog looks really happy. Glad I chose Lyssa out of all of the local people on Rover.

Megan did an outstanding job of caring for Katie our cat. From the time we first contracted her, she kept us well informed. She came to meet us and Katie in advance of the booking and send us pictures and a narrative at each visit. She even brought in our newspapers. We would highly recommend Megan if you need someone to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Huntley. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
