“I would like to take a minute and say thank you to Mellisa and her family. My dog stayed twice with them and both times I was getting back happy and satisfied pet. Melissa and her family provided everything my dog needed: love, care and attention. They took my dog on regular walks, played fetch, and provided a lots of hugs. Every day during my dog's stay, Melissa sent me pictures and short updates on how my dog was doing. My vacation could not be more enjoyable without knowing that my dog in good hands and happy. I am highly recommending Melissa. If you care and love your dog, she is the right dog sitter for you.”

About: I have a 5-year-old border collie. He’s very friendly and loves to play with other dogs. I live in a town house so I don’t have a yard per say. I typically take my dog to parks/fields in Ashland to hike or run around. I typically walk my border collie about 4 miles a day as well. I work remote so I am usually home. Available 7 days a week. I usually go to the gym for a few hours each day but try to be home for my dog to keep him active as a herding dog (border collie) I will do 2 long walks per day typically (2 miles each). I will also take my dog and yours hiking or to a field/park but not a dog park. I can go to a fenced in field if needed for your dog. Mine doesn’t need a fence.
“We felt completely at ease leaving our dog with you again. From all the updates, it was clear he really enjoyed his stay. Thank you so much, and we’d love to book with you again!”

“Heather was so great - accommodating, friendly, and communicative! Honey had a blast in her huge fenced in yard and we loved getting updates and pictures while we were away. Would definitely recommend Heather!”

“Domino had an active vacation with Tomoe and her family while we were away. She welcomed him into her home as if he were her own dog. She made sure he was active and happy throughout his stay and kept me updated regularly. We will definitely reach out again when the need arises!”

“I could NOT have asked for a better dog sitter. From the moment I met Jeannette and Rebecca, it was obvious how carding, responsible, and genuinely loving they are with pets. My Jasmine--who has recently relocated with me from Virginia and is suffering from separation anxiety--felt comfortable immediately, and I had complete peace of mind while I was away. I received regular updates, photos, and thoughtful communication throughout the stay, which meant so much. It's clear they treat every pet like family, paying attention to routines, comfort, and the little details. I came home to a happy, relaxed dog--the best sign of all. I'm incredibly grateful and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, compassionate, and dependable. No question this is just the beginning of a beautiful relationship. (Thank you, Rover.)”

“Lingwen was AMAZING! She made Nico feel super comfortable at her home and welcomed. Lingwen sent updates and pictures of Nico thought out the stay which we loved. Thank you much again for caring for Nico! If you’re looking for a sitter, do not hesitate to book her. She’s the best :)”

“Svetlana welcomed S. Punki into her family so that we felt like he was on a vacation too! We got daily feedback, with photos, videos, and messages. Svetlana asked questions when she wasn't sure, and was kind and caring. We could not ask for more. I definitely recommend Svetlana and hope to leave S. Punki in her care when we travel again.”

“Cathy and her family were great! They were very friendly, welcoming to our dog, communicative and thoughtful. Thank you for taking care of him!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hopkinton
Jackie and her family take such great care of Luca and always make us feel at ease leaving him. We were delayed returning from our travel on this particular booking, which caused us unnecessary distress. Jackie accommodated our need to unexpectedly continue caring for Luca. She relieved our concern graciously during a stressful time. It’s always a pleasure partnering with Jackie and her family.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
