Sophie did a great job with my blind and toothless girl, Annie. She gave updates and pics throughout the day. She also spent quality time with Annie who gets separation anxiety when left alone. I’ve already booked Sophie for another sitting job!! Thank you Sophie!!

Absolutely PERFECT! We traveled to Europe for 12 days and left our 2 dogs with Brie, one of them being a recently adopted Beagle/Basset mix who has SEVERE separation anxiety disorder. Both required medication schedules. I never had to worry about the dogs ONCE, which was SUCH A NICE CHANGE from the constant worry of the new dog and current dog that had a recent health scare. She sent daily pics, was respectful of our home, and we came home to dogs that acted as though we had never left! Our boys really bonded with her and we feel so much less anxious about leaving them for extended periods of time. Can't say enough POSITIVE about Brie!

Mia did an OUTSTANDING job caring for our dog and two cats. She sent us daily updates w photos of walks, playtime, and even did a photo shoot with our dog! She did a home stay for 4 nights and our house was impeccable when we returned. To say I would hire her again is an understatement. We’re convinced our pup misses her and we wish we could hire her indefinitely. If you pass on having her watch your pets you are missing out, if I could give ten stars, I would ❤️❤️❤️

Sana is amazing!!! She watched my cats for 2.5 weeks (the longest I have ever left them). While she was there, my cats managed to knock my jewelery off the shelf and into the nearby cat litter bin. Sana went through the cat litter to get my jewelry. In addition to that, she was amazing about everything else! She sent so many pictures and my house is nice and clean and my cats seem happy. I will definitely be trying to hire her again!

About: I am a 26 year old living with autism spectrum disorder. I always loved animals since I saw them for the first time when I was a toddler. Animals and I just clicked, and I love getting to know more and more about animals. I would help out from time to time growing up, helping take care of animals. I also love music, and I play the cello. I'm a fur-mom of a domestic shorthair cat named Leo, an Australian Shepherd named Zola, and our newest addition to our family: another Australian Shepherd named Teddy Graham. From February 2021 to July of 2021, I worked at Camp Bow Wow, and since August/September of 2021, I’ve been working at Cedar Run Company for 5 yrs now. Over the years, I’ve also learned how to give other dogs baths, besides my own, and I’ve also cared for injured/senior pets (ie: administering meds, gentle leash-walking w/ a belly-band thing to go potty, etc.) I am mostly available any day. I work on Mondays (9-5), Fridays (10-6), and Saturdays (10-6). I can try to be flexible with any changes to my weekly schedules. Unfortunately, I can only have my dogs, Zola and Teddy Graham, over at my house, plus I’m afraid Zola might be jealous. Teddy’s been so far, so good with other dogs. So yea, boarding & daycare at my house isn’t really an option. I will give your pets all the loves and the tender loving care when you’re on vacay.

Mira was amazing! We very last minute needed a dog sitter and she responded very quickly which was so helpful! She came by met Ace before hand which was appreciated greatly. She was very sweet, professional and was very willing to accommodate to all of Aces needs. She stayed at the house and left it just as we had left it. No mess or trash! She followed all instructions to a tea and also sent me pictures of Ace throughout the day and that was super nice! I would highly recommend her!

About: I have been talking care of family and friends animals since the age of 10 and still to this day. From walking to feeding to bathing, and grooming I have done it all. I wouldnt be the person I am today if it wernt for being around and taking care of animals. Pets make my life so much more enjoyable seeing them happy them showing love in return. I have a Morkie who is the biggest lover on this planet. She is great with other animals and will keep them great company. I also use to train dogs when I was younger and have had the privilege to train all of my family and friends pets. So if your fur baby is in need of a little extra help I would be thrilled to work with them! I am currently a stay at home mother who has lots of time and love to give and would be honored to care for your fur baby. I have a fenced in back yard and a very loving and friendly fur baby to keep your pet company and lots of toys and love to give little one

About: I’m a veterinary technician with emergency and critical care experience, and an Equissage-certified canine massage therapist. I notice things most pet sitters don’t. I understand that boarding can disrupt a dog’s nervous system. Some dogs do better at home while you’re away, and my massage therapy background means I have techniques that genuinely help calm and settle an anxious or overstimulated dog in their own environment. During drop-in visits and walks, I’m assessing your dog the whole time. Gait, energy, behavior, subtle signs that something’s off. You’ll hear about it either way. I’m experienced with medically complex dogs, seniors, and anxious dogs, and equally comfortable with your healthy, bouncy lab who just needs a solid walk. Cats are absolutely welcome. Cat owners, I see you. Your cat has a whole life, a whole routine, and very strong opinions. I get it. Fill me in on the Royal Treatment and I’ll do my best to make sure it happens. I look forward to meeting you and your animal friend(s) soon. 🐾 I offer drop-in visits and dog walks seven days a week. Visits are typically 30 minutes. I send updates with photos at every visit so you know exactly how things are going. I’m a veterinary technician with emergency and critical care experience. I know how to recognize when something is wrong and what to do about it. All dogs are kept leashed on walks unless we are in a securely fenced area. If your dog jumps fences, we do not go off leash outside. I do not combine your dog with unfamiliar dogs without prior owner approval. I come to you. Drop-in visits and walks take place in your home and neighborhood, which means your dog stays in a familiar environment with their own smells, sounds, and routine intact. I treat every client’s home with respect and leave it exactly as I found it. For drop-in visits that occur at dark or during nighttime hours, I may occasionally have another person with me. This is for my own safety.

We couldn't be more pleased with the care Kellar provided for our two large dogs. He stayed in our home and was a most excellent guest. Kellar respected our property and left the place spotless. The important stuff: daily updates and pics of the dogs, made sure to give our senior dog his meds and assisted with stairs, walks, and lots of love & attention. How do I know? Archie & Louie were totally chill when we returned to the house. No signs of the anxiety and stress that come with taking them to a strange place and leaving them for a few days. Both dogs took to him upon our first meeting. Kellar is kind, respectful, and considerate. I will not hesitate to contact him for future dog care.

About: Growing up with the passion and duty of taking my neighbors dogs on walks, or dog-sitting for the weekend gave me the experience and knowledge to ensure your pets safety and happiness! Im currently working part-time so I have lots of time to take care of your pets. My schedule varies weekly, but I can do drop bys and walks any time if planned a day ahead of time. I come to my clients homes and provide your pets with love and care while you’re away, taking them on walks and feeding them. All while ensuring the safety and cleanliness of my clients homes.

Landon did a remarkable job. He stayed at our house taking care of our 2 golden retrievers while we enjoyed a 10 day holiday. We did a one night trial run a few weeks before our long trip to make sure everything would go well and it did. The dogs were well taken care of and the house was great when we returned. He was a great guest who washed his sheets and vacuumed the floors! We will definitely be using Landon for our future travel time.

FAQs for House Sitting - Hiawatha

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Hiawatha on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 342 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Hiawatha. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hiawatha walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hiawatha maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hiawatha choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hiawatha. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
