“Kayla went above and beyond for our boy! She is super reliable and took such amazing care of Jax! Just to add how amazing she is, our garage code wasn’t working and she stayed over an hour locked out trying to figure out a solution to make sure she got to Jax while we were out of town!! A+ from us!”

“Josh was amazing with our 1 yr old golden doodle while staying at our house for a weekend. Louie got multiple walks a day. We got updates several times a day with pictures….always a smile on Louie’s face. Thanks Josh! Looking forward to our next booking.”

“Brie was awesome! She stayed at our house for four nights and took such great care of our two dogs and two cats. The dogs got lots of walks, the cats got plenty of love, and she kept us in the loop with tons of photo updates. We came home to happy pets and a clean house—what more could you ask for?”

“Karley was amazing with our golden retriever, Dierks, and he seemed very happy and relaxed when we returned! I especially appreciated how accommodating Karley was with schedule changes that happened last minute. We would definitely recommend Karley and will be booking with her again!🤩”

“Hello sarah this is the first chance I have had to sit down and write a little note. I wanted to make sure that we were all on the same page and that everything went OK I know the kids missed us, but I know that you took very good care of them. I don’t have anything definitive but sometime around the first part of October bill is gonna have to have surgery up at Mayo so we’d probably be gone maybe 2 to 3 days if you’re interested in when I find something more definitive on date wise, I’ll be certain to let you know if you care to come back that is hope all is well and I thank you for all your hard work”

“Mia was absolutely amazing! I have two dogs and two cats. One dog has twice daily meds and the other dog is very anxious. My pets loved her and she took such great care of them. Highly recommend!”

“Leslie took great care of my two large dogs and my cat for the weekend. She was easy to get a hold of provided me updates and was consistent and timely. I truly appreciate her and recommend her for any of your pet care needs! :)”

“Mira took great care of Moose while we were away! She had great communication about arrival and departure. She kept our house clean. She sent pictures of Moose’s activities throughout the day and Moose was very happy when we arrived home.”

About: I have been around dogs my entire life, I started dog sitting around 3 years ago and I've been at a doggy daycare for going on two years now. I'm currently working part time and have my weekends mostly free except for Sundays from 11-1 when I have training with my own dog. I will have plenty of time to love on your fur babies. I will provide loving care for your fur babies while you are away from home, I will communicate with you through text and send you pictures frequently. I also have experience with dogs who don't necessarily like people.

“Makayle responded promptly to my inquiry and communicated clearly the entire time watching my pup, Mikka. I know Mikka loved having a companion while we were gone and got lots of love as shared in photos.”

“Talia was phenomenal with our 2 dogs and cat. They bonded very well while we were gone 10 days. Our cat usually hides but she was sleeping calmly out in the open when we returned. Talia played games and she introduced some new commands to our shepherd. Our little dog got his cuddles too. Her training skills and personality were a great match. Our home and pets were left in perfect hands. We definitely would recommend her to anyone needing a pet/home sitter.”

“Ashleigh treated our dog very well and we loved all the videos and pictures she sent! It helped ease our minds to know she was taking good care of our pet. She was very responsive to any messages and left our house clean and tidy.”

I am currently working full time and depending on what each pet owner wants can do weekend or week care depending on what is needed I am always cautious with peoples pets, I always keep an eye on them if I’m leaving, or if I’m taking them outside they are always on the leash.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cedar Rapids
Sana watched our 2 dogs and cat for 5 days and she was wonderful. She came over before the trip to meet our babies and take notes on things. While we were gone she was always in contact with us each day with pictures and how things were going and she asked questions when little things came up which we found to be comforting knowing she really takes a lot of care into watching our babies and our home. She offered to water our outside flowers for us and even did some light cleaning before we came home. She was a great sitter and even better house guest. We would definitely have her watch our babies anytime.

Ashleigh did an amazing job housesitting our two quirky pups! She was excellent about communicating and sending timely updates. Both of our dogs warmed up to her right away and were relaxed the whole week in her care. We also appreciated Ashleigh’s flexibility with the start and end of care as our plans changed. We will definitely book Ashleigh again for house sitting or drop in visits!

Meghan was so wonderful to our home and our boy, Walter! She was very communicative and helpful; we got a bad storm and Meghan had made plenty of arrangements to be sure she could take care of Walter and even went above and beyond to offer help if our flights were delayed. Walter was happy and relaxed when we got home, and the house was also in great shape. Can’t wait to have her watch him again on our next trip!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cedar Rapids walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cedar Rapids maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cedar Rapids choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cedar Rapids. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
