“Luca absolutely loves Desmond and Robyn! We’ve used them a handful of times and Luca comes back so exhausted from all of the playing. The updates are amazing and communication incredible. We’ll continue bringing Luca back thank you!!”

“Yan took excellent care of our girl. She has separation anxiety because we have left her very few times. Yan recognized her stress when she wouldn’t eat so she kept trying and ultimately gave her fresh cooked food. Above and beyond expectations.”

“Gabriel and Savannah were so great with both of my dogs! They were quick to respond and sent updates and pictures every single day! They looked like they were having the time of their life in every photo 🥹 My two dogs aren’t the easiest to handle and they handled them flawlessly! I will 100% be booking them again and feel very comfortable with my dogs in their hands!”

“Alice and her family took such good care of my boys! She sent pictures everyday and they seemed really happy and taken care of. Will definitely hire her again if the need arises. Thanks Alice!”
“Alyssa is communicative and accommodating. And, importantly, my dog is always calm and happy when I pick her up, which I take to be a great sign of being well cared for. Would rebook!”

“Iuliia watched my two mini dachshunds and they had a great time. She took great care of them, sent lots of pictures and I will definitely leave them with her the next time I’m out of town.”

“So happy to have found Angie! She’s very responsive and kind! She made sure to send updates and is always communicating quick and clearly. We felt very comfortable leaving Lola and she seemed to have a blast with their family and dog.”

“Bear loves staying with Ashley!! She is so sweet and was flexible with my work situation pick up time. Really appreciate her as our sitter. She’ll always be our first sitter to ask before others!”

“Maura and Shawn took amazing care of our girl! They have an awesome yard and made sure she had plenty of activity. They also sent lots of updates / super cute photos. We were so comfortable knowing she was in great hands - it looked like she had a very fun filled weekend with them. We will definitely book again.”

“Morgan and her family were great with our pups! We were worried as a previous dog sitter canceled swim last minute due to a family emergency and we were going out of the country. I’m glad we found Morgan. She was very great at communicating daily updates and went above and beyond. Our dogs also got along with hers and made for great playtime. I highly recommend Morgan for caring for your dog!”

“Marie went the extra mile to both understand Koko’s senior needs as well as alleviating my nerves by sending lots of updates. Koko was all tail wags while there and upon returning home. Thank you Marie and Chris!”

“Alison was very welcoming of my dog. Even after my dog was a bit of a bully to her sweet dog during the middle of my trip, Alison still had mine playing and having a wonderful time. She sent pictures and a video of the dogs playing while I was away. Great communication.”

“Angela was fantastic! This is the first time I have used Rover when I had an unexpected trip out of town and Buddy, our 9 month old Cavapoo, was treated like a little prince in her home. She had a crate at her home and a yard where he could play. Angela genuinely loves pets and I will use her again when we go out of town!”

“It was so reassuring to know that our dog was with patches and her little pack while we were on our trip! We got lots of reassuring updates, and we could tell that she stayed calm and had great access to a lovely grassy yard. We are all very appreciative and look forward to our next visit!”

“Jillian and Clayton were amazing for our dog’s first stay with them! They sent great photo updates, and our dog made new friends at their place. We felt totally at ease and will definitely book again!”

About: I've personally had several dogs as a teenager and as an adult. Friends asked me to sit their dogs because of my natural rapport skills. I'm retired and mostly at home. This gives me time to spend and care for my furry friends, including frequent potty breaks and daily walks. I have a newly fenced yard and a single story home. My neighborhood has lots of sidewalks and a nearby park. I greet dogs with love.
“Gail was excellent with our dog. She sent us a daily update with pictures. She has a big fenced backyard for the dogs to run and play in. Our dog was very content there! I would definitely recommend her!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Hays
10 stars if I could!! All my concerns about boarding were gone within 5 minutes of meeting Monique. She was so so good with our anxious little Yorkie Martini. She showed us her problem solving skills and communicated the entire time. We could not of asked for a better experience from drop-off to pickup.

I highly recommend Andrea! She took such great care of Canek. He is a Xoloitzcuintle who is usually very cautious and takes a long time to warm up to new people, but with Andrea, it was completely different right from the start. During our first meet-and-greet, Canek felt comfortable immediately—he allowed her to pet him and even let her hold his cheeks, which is a huge breakthrough for him. When we left him in her care a week later, everything went amazingly well. He walked great on his leash and even fell asleep right next to her. We whole-heartedly recommend Andrea for her exceptional care, patience, and the incredible empathy she shows toward both fur babies and their owners. Without a doubt, she is our go-to person of total trust for all our future trips. Thank you so much for everything, Andrea!

Alice was incredible from start to finish!! Extremely communicative & responsive, and it was so evident that she and her family love hosting dogs at their place 🥹. I felt confident that Chai would do well there and get so much love during her stay. Loved all the updates and photos! Would definitely book with Alice again & highly recommend her to others.

I’m so glad I trusted Amber with my senior frenchie! She was easy to communicate with throughout the whole process and took great care in making sure she understood Yolandi’s needs and preferred schedule. We typically leave Landi with family but I’m so happy to we now have Amber to rely on as well.

Isabelle stepped in last minute to help us after our original rover had a family emergency in the middle of the stay. She was prompt in responding and willing to go out of her way to pick up my dog. She took amazing care of my dog, sending frequent pictures and updates. I highly recommend Isabelle for your pets stay!

A+++ Rover peeps. Neha & Michael were such gracious hosts to our sweet baby girl Twyla. We felt at ease leaving Twyla with them as they were attentive, communicative, and gave us plenty of updates throughout the weekend stay. Highly recommend them especially to anyone who’s anxious leaving their pup behind (like myself).

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hays home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hays.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Hays sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TX ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
